I haven't heard anything about this before--felt it would be better if brought to a new thread rather than appended to numerous other billpay threads.

Prior to the MBNA/BofA merger, I had individual cards with both, and used my MBNA card to billpay other credit cards. I had separate logins for both BofA (SS#) and MBNA (username), and on the MBNA side could select my MBNA card or one of 2 money market accounts as the funding account.

Like everyone else, after the integration of MBNA billpay into BofA, I was still able to use my MBNA card billpay by logging into BofA with my SS#. Yesterday I happened to get a piece of mail from BofA asking me to verify my online access to their site post-merger by using my MBNA login. I just tried logging in using my username from MBNA on BofA's site (which worked) and checked out billpay, and it shows all 3 of my BofA cards, as well as former MBNA, and my 2 money market accounts as funding sources. It appears to let you send payment to other cards using your BofA card as the source.

Has anyone else tried this and had success using BofA cards as funding sources? I'm going to try a test payment using a BofA card but I see no reason why it wouldn't work. Again, you'd have to login using your MBNA login & this assumes that BofA has matched all of your accounts up.

It may be something new, but it's not working for me... as of yet.

I used my MBNA (BofA after merger) credit card to fund my BofA checking account and was charged a $10 "Bank Transaction Fee" plus interest since it was considered a cash advance.

I was able to transfer incoming funds to BofA checking and outgoing to another BofA customer account without incurring fees. Outgoing transfers from checking (to your own account at another bank) would be charged a fee.

nm sorry...should edit the above out..

I tried logging in with my old MBNA login and nothing. But it would be nice to tap our old BofA for billpay.

I can't upload images from work, but to clarify, I just went into each process to show the differences:

Logging into bankofamerica.com with my social security number (old process)
When clicking on 'Billpay and E-bills
From the screen above, going to use MBNA card to pay another card (interestingly enough, the second Mastercard-2673 was not available before...but is now. It's the MBNA worldpoints card opened for an ipod nano)

Now, logging into bankofamerica.com with my OLD MBNA.com login information
Clicking on 'Billpay and E-bills' brings up this screen
Cards available to fund credit card payments

I'll update this thread further once I have successfully made a payment using a BofA card. In any case, this leads me to believe that MBNA/BofA has not intention of discontinuing billpay...

wow that looks completely different than what i see. I cannot login to bofa.com using my SSN or my old MBNA passwords either. I am using BofA's CA site (which is different from others) what state are you using on BofA login?

^^I am in CA--I'm scanning the snail mail I got from BofA yesterday which prompted me to try this. Will upload in a second.

edit--rec'd this from BofA yesterday

I got the same thing as the OP. I hadnt tried using my old MBNA login as I already had a BofA login and my MBNA CCs migrated to that.

But when I login using my old MBNA login, all my accounts are there (including customer service emails), and in the billpay I have the option to pay bills with both MBNA and BofA credit cards. It allows the BofA cards to be selected as the payment account, but I do not have any bills to pay right now to test it.

BTW, in NY, and I did not receive any messages from BofA prompting me to do this.

I think this must mean good news as soon we will all be able to use BofA cards for billpay. Apparently BofA is rolling out the new template first for those who never logged in Online Banking before. They seem to do things in stages but I think it definitely means good news. Thanks for the heads up OP.

I did login immediately after the change, so maybe thats why I didnt get this letter/option

My old MBNA login was the same user name as the BofA (CA) login, so I think I'm hoozled.

S'okay, I don't use my BofA-proper card for much anyway.

I had a different login for MBNA, but I figured it all got migrated to my BofA login. Well, you're right, I can also log in using my MBNA credentials, and there I do see my BofA card as well as my two MBNA cards as funding sources for MBNA billpays. Anyone had success using this? I have to think they wouldn't treat it as a cash advance or anything. This could be very cool.

... But a few hours later, it's gone again. What gives?

I saw my MBNA cards migrate to my existing BofA account, so never used the MBNA login. Good thing for me

I tried this in Firefox and it didn't work. Just showed mine and my wife's BofA accounts on the same page...strange. Decided to try it using IE and it worked! Well, at least when I get to the bill pay page our BofA it allowed me to schedule a payment using a BofA account that existed pre-merger. Went back to the current login page and checked and the scheduled payment is not shown as pending. So it remains to be seen if this actually a functional page. It may do everything but actually send the payment.

edit: oops, my bad, the payment shows up as scheduled on both.

Here we go again...folks be patient!! Haven't we learned from the merger days last October that BofA interface takes a few days or even weeks to make the full complete switch over. I'm happy to wait til next month to start using BofA cards for billpay, another 30K of available funds, just in time to pay off a 0% that's ending in June.

Working for me in CA as well. I had never logged in to my MBNA account as well post-merger.

WOW!

I have never had and MBNA card. I tried logging into boa website and set up bill pay for the first time, I could only see my checking account (could not see the 2 credit cards I have with them), it appears, for BOA only customers its a no-go.

I will check later again to see if this changes.

I have always been loging into boa website to check my accounts.

One reason people may see different options--

Having or not having a BofA checking account.

My husband and I have BofA checking accounts. (and BofA and MBNA cards) We see one screen.

Our sons do not have BofA checking accounts (but have BofA and merged MBNA cards)

They see a different screen.

We are in Cali.

UPDATE: My Bank of America cards have now disappeared from the Billpay screen when signed in under my old MBNA login. Guess it was either a temporary glitch or a test of things to come.

But you did set up monthly payments to your Citi cards, didn't you?

No, no need to. And right now I wouldnt be trusting the payments to go through if I had. The old MBNA cards can still be used as always.

I have been able to billpay with both BofA and MBNA from the get-go. I guess you are saying the MBNA cards will be on the BofA site so I won't have to log into both, which would be a nice improvement.

I just tried today to log in with my old mbnanetaccess credentials. First of it's pretty hard to log into bofa since it remembers your last userID. So I cleared out cookies from IE and started at mbnanetaccess.com and that took me to bofa's home page.

I logged in with my old mbna credentials, then I got a screen asking me for my bofa check card number and pin (I do have bofa checking & savings accounts). Once I got that out of the way and I agreed to their terms and conditions it logged me in and I was presented with the exact same screen as I get when I log in with my regular bofa credentials.

So I clicked on Bill Pay and behold - both my old mbna card and my bofa ex-power rewards cards are showing and I'm able to schedule payments with both.

Now this would be super awesome if I could billpay with bofa card as well! As posters above, I'm also a bit scared to do it, not willing to be hit with any cash advance fees.

Aren't "bofa ex-power rewards cards" automatically converted to WorldPoints Platinum Plus cards (which always have BillPay feature) after the merger?

So you don't really "gain" this using the MBNA login.

Nope - even though the card was converted it doesn't show up in my BillPay feature on a regular bofa logged in page.

Just to confirm--I have now successfully used both my BofA and former MBNA cards for billpay

I use my MBNA to pay my mortgage everymonth amongst other bills, I dont get hit with any fees to do so currently cash advance or otherwise. I would love to switch to my worlpoints card, Can anyone confirm that there are no fees for the boa cards?

I just did as the OP and I see the same screens... Further, now when I log back into my original BofA account I have access to use the Credit Cards which previously weren't available. So both my old BofA and my MBNA NetAccess credentials give the same screens - Both with Access to all but one Credit Card (5: MBNA SCU Alumni [MC], Post-Merger BofA AMEX, Post-Merger MBNA Motley Fool, Post-Merger MBNA MLB Extra Bases [Free iPod Nano], and Post-Merger SCU Alumni [VISA]). The only card which didn't show up was my Pre-Merger BofA Financial Rewards Card.

And I am on the California banking system - I do have a couple of the AAA Affinity (5.38% APY) savings accounts (Post-Merger as well) all showing up in both profiles.

I was in the same predicament as markkundinger. Namely my MBNA username was the same as the BofA one.
I tried to change the BofA ID online, unsuccessfully, I called the phone # the online system was listing after failing to change it.
So I was able to uncover the old MBNA user ID (since the BofA was now changed). I was able to log into BofA systems with it. The problem is, I still can't use the old BofA for BillPay.

BTW, the old BofA ID wasfrom CA, but the old MBNA ID was not from CA.
