their site says that checking requires a monthly direct deposit of salary or social security...otherwise, $4 service charge...

When I look at the terms it says there's no fee "with monthly direct deposit of your salary, Social Security or other recurring deposit." Maybe it depends on the state? No mention of fees for closing the account or of how long you'd have to keep it open.
Sounds like a good deal if we can find out from anyone if there is a hard pull and how long we have to keep funds in the account... I could pay a few bills for a couple months and not have the maintenance fees, but if its too long it may not be worth it. I looked at the site and beginning app and I couldn't see any answers to those questions...
In MA, the terms are no monthly fee with salary DD, Social Security, or "other recurring deposit." To me, that means $1 Paypal. No?
I'm giving it a try. Thanks, OP.
Note that they let you make the initial deposit from CC up to $1k. I hope it goes through as a purchase or the cash advance fee will take a big bite out of my $100 bonus.

Not offered in NY? I put "Other" when they asked where I was from and have been unable to locate the checking account offer at all.

I called LaSalle Bank and the CSR told me the promotion is good only for those who received the invitation mail.
The minimum opening deposit required for your new account is $25. How would you like to make your opening deposit? (Choose One) *
What gives? I thought it was $50 I entered the promo code EASE100 and chose LaSalle Direct Plus checking accountI noticed that too. Waiting for the welcome package and account number, then will call to verify the promo.
I'll wait for the welcome package and then send in the initial amount.

mine showed up as a purchase, doesn't it depend on the CC you use?

Mine showed up as purchase. I put in for an initial deposit that's higher than my cash advance limit, so it would have been rejected otherwise.
would you mind telling us which card you used to source the deposit?

got my customer starter kit in the mail yesterday. Pretty worthless other than the account #. You need a debit card and pin to sign up for immediate access to online banking which I haven't received yet. If you sign up with your account # only, they snail mail you a password.
the enclosed letter states that an Express Welcome checking package with an initial supply of personalized checks will arrive under seperate cover within 5-8 business days. A sig card and return envelope is also included.

Were you one of the ones that got this thru the mail? Can anyone else confirm that they recieved the bonus even though they weren't "targeted" for this promo?
Well after watching this offer for a little bit, I decided to just bite the bullet and apply... I had a BOA and Citi checking (applied over a year ago and have since cancelled) and got both of their bonuses... and I was able to use my United Card to fund this account, and to get those bonus miles I had to spend $250... so I funded it with $250, allowing me to get that bonus sooner...

Could you let us know if you get the bonus? If you get it I plan to do this as well.
Thanks,

Did you set up a online pay or direct deposit. When did you open the account.- Thanks
I just received my welcome kit, FYI the routing number for LaSalle is 71000505.
I'll mail the $50 check and signature Card back tomorrow. I'll setup DD through Employee Express sometime in the next couple weeks once I am positive my account is fully setup.
Also:
$5 per month fee if Direct Deposit is not setup for the Account Per the "Change in Terms" Pamphlet mailed with my welcome kit.
Effective April 9, 2007
Direct Checking Plus: You will be charged $5 for each monthly statement cycle in which there is no direct deposit into your Account.
Not sure about early Closure Fee's. I have not read anything on that yet but it *could* be buried somewhere in the Fee's.
