are you saying that adding your wife as another cardmember gives you the $250? isn't there afee for the gold card? I currently have a Plat Biz card w/ AMEX.

Me too. I was wondering the same thing. I signed up for this Gold card 5 years ago (no bonus though), cancelled after 2 years because I don't want to keep on paying $125 every year. Then there was $250 bonus last year (very tempted), so I signed up for it again, then cancelled again.
Just wondering if anyone else keep on apply for this AMEX Gold card and keep on cancelling it. If you did, how many time have you been successfully signed up and got the bonus? TIA.

Ecuadorgr said: Hmm, I can't find exactly how I can redeem points. It says "Airlines, hotels, office equipment... etc", but is it near as good as the thankyounetwork? Assuming it's the same as the Rewards Plus Gold, these 25,000 points will get you $250 in Home Depot gift cards. Or miles. Those are really the 2 best options IMO.
so since this card is not really credit (since total has to be paid back at the end of the month)..getting the card and cancelling it after a few months is not going to affect my credit..
Is that right ?!?!

it's a business card, won't affect your credit rating

it's a hard pull, but it will not affect your credit afterwards
poordealguy said: Squeezer99 said: it has an annual fee though not for the first year NO..
Not necessarily I'd say. If AMEX chooses to consider current card holders now re-applying (i.e. double-dippers) as simply transferring their accounts, the first-year annual fee will not be waived.
"The first year annual fee is waived for new Card applicants only. If you transfer an existing account to Business Gold Rewards, you are not eligible for the first year fee waiver."
Is there a $40 fee for signing up to the membership rewards program to get the points? Last time this is what happened to me.

How many business cards does AMEX allow you to have simultaneously?

I know that this is just my experience and not the norm, but the last time I signed up for a card with the $250 bonus, I found that the CL on my personal CC was reduced the same amount as the CL was raised on my new business CC. I called and asked them why this had happened, and it was obvious that I was being placed into some sort of fraud prevention program because everyone I was transferred to on the phone was sort of angry and kept asking me why I had applied for so many credit cards. I have 1 personal and 2 business AMEX's.
I wonder if my credit limit on personal cards got reduced. Got approved last night. Applied using the 'If you're current AMEX member click here'. Check this morning the personal credit limit was still 24.9k. Will wait and see.

I recall hearing that having an AMEX business card drastically increases your chance of getting a financial review. Any truth to this?

I must have about 10 business cards with them and 5 personal ones. No problem at all.
Update on the 10,000 point bonus offer. I applied + spent + paid statement in May. No points, so I called. The points are applied 10-12 weeks after the promotion ends, the promotion is currently scheduled for 8/31/2007 (acccording to the CSR). So I should be getting the points by mid-November, according to the CSR.
Of course, if they extend the promotion forever, the points will never come. Very economical option for AMEX.
