They took my initial deposit from my checking account within, but it is not posted in the Savings Account as available or under a hold of any kind. It's probably best to open with as small a deposit as possible.
strange0kiddo said:What is by the 28th they still don't have my account open? Cause by how long it is taking, it might not be open by then. 1 to 2 days my butt!!!!! That is because the initial deposit is held 5 or 10 (?) days since the funding account wasnt verified. The fact you can look in your Savings account and see it has not posted means your account has already been opened. You can do other deposits, added bank account links, etc even though the opening deposit hasnt posted yet. I know what you mean by your initial deposit not showing up anywhere within the savings account, but it will in a couple more days (and it will be dated properly too). Not sure why, but it is a transfer/deposit made outside the normal Quicktransfer system (using an unverified account) that causes this.
I understand that the money is held for new accounts. I don't understand why they take so long to verify my external account. They withdraw the initial deposit several days before verifying the account, which seems like an odd practice. |

It is a one-time transaction.
You then go into the transfers and add external accounts to link for ongoing purposes. I found it very fast and easy to add and verify new accounts (although the system rejected my email address so I had to call in and have them force-approve it). |

No kidding. The issue is that five business days after requesting the verification deposits they still have not shown up in my external account. |

I linked three accounts - 2 using the instant verification option which actually was instantaneous, and one using the trial deposits option which showed up in my checking account the next day. Maybe you should call them and ask about the delay since it has been over a week. Something isnt right. |

I have a question about the Quick Transfer feature. Say I set up links on E-Trade to Bank A and Bank B. Can I initiate a transfer on E-Trade from Bank A to Bank B without the money touching the E-Trade account? I have several checking and savings accounts, and I would just like to find easy way to transfer money among them. TIA. |

Thank you, *******
We have received your new E*TRADE Bank account application. Here's what happens next:
1. We will open your account and initiate your electronic funds transfer in the next one to two business days. Once your account has been opened, we will notify you by e-mail.
2. Five to seven business days after your account has been opened, you will receive a new account Welcome Kit and pre-filled signature card from us in the mail.
3. Sign and return the signature card you receive in your Welcome Kit (have joint account holders sign as well).
Does this mean the account was approved? Normally you would see a happy "YOUR APPROVED" designation somewhere, and someone has already posted that they were rejected. Any thoughts?

Yes. I was rejected and the message I got was not the same as that. My wife applied (10 seconds later)and got the message that you got and that means you are approved. Go figure! |

I dont know what I did, but the only way I can deposit my $1 is through mail or wire transfer. I am trying to add an external account (my checking account at my bank) but I keep getting the message that I do not have an account with them (so cannot add external account). I do have an account number though, they emailed it to me. I would much rather do this online, instead of mailing them a check. Does anyone know how I can do this? |

Please do email them for $25 bonus if you opened your account earlier. This is the response I got from them:
Thank you for your recent message in regards to a $25 promotional credit for your Complete Savings account ending in xxxxyyyy that was opened on 02/dd/07. I would like to inform you that the $25 credit will post to your account no later than 30 days from the date the account was opened. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns. Thank you for your valued and continued business. |

Great find, OP! Just opened two accounts: one for myself and one for wife.
Nothing to do now but to wait for the $25 (or should I say $50) to be credited.
Thanks! |

Are you talking about if you opened the account earlier than this deal was posted?
Interesting, I opened a savings with them in December or January. Wonder if I can e-mail and get the $25 credit since I also used the link in this thread to open a second on |

Denied by Chex. Have opened quite a few accounts over the past year or so, and it has been noted in other threads that Etrade is very sensitive to Chex inquiries. Oh well, got a free Chex report out of it at least. |

same thing happened to me...when you go to the Chex website and order your report, do they snail mail it to you? |
