I only realized I had to verify the external acct after reading this thread. After clicking the verify link on my account page I get this message " Verification deposits have not yet been sent for this account. Please allow 2 -3 business days for the deposits to post to your external account."

The initial deposit doesnt appear yet, since it was from an 'unverified' funding source and is subject to different hold/posting policies than all subsequent deposits. Just because the initial deposit isnt showing yet, the account is still there.

after verify instantly by login, my initial deposit of $5 was debited from my BOA account... have not shown in etrade yet (but now it is a verified account already)...
will see...

Thanks, OP, for the deal. Apply, deposit $1, verify by return deposits (reimburses most/all of your "risk capital"), profit 2500%.

I stilll haven't heard anything from eTrade. I applied and then did the instant verification of my checking account. They still have yet to pull the initial deposit from my checking account.

Has anyone tried opening one of these for their kids so they also can receive the $25 bonus?

You might want to pull $1 from an outside account. The offer states "Must be a new account opened with new funds." Not sure what is considered "new", but I took that to mean that an inter-bank transfer wouldnt count.

E*TRADE likes to extend offer deadlines...

www.etrade.com/25cash
www.etrade.com/earnmore

"Accounts must be opened by March 15, 2007 to quality for the $25 offer."

Is anyone worried that after you click on the Apply Now link with the $25 promotion plainly visible, it takes you to here and then when you click on Open an account in minutes it takes you to here but no mention of the $25 bonus?

After you apply they mail you an page you have to sign and return.

It states the $25 bonus on the welcome letter.

Since you have to mail back your signiture that $25 bonus is only $24.61

In the Welcome Kit I got in the mail, the $25 bonus was explicitly indicated in the account information.

No fax #?

For those of you who have opened a savings account only, do they give you access to real-time stock quotes?

There isn't a pre-paid return envelope included in the welcome kit?

That's why the verifying deposits are so critical

No, just a few envelopes with the E*TRADE address --- same ones you would use if you deposit by mail.

Exactly! I put in $1 for this, and before that was even withdrawn, I had 65 cents put in my account for verification purposes. So, this only cost me 35 cents to get this $25 gain.

Sign up for a free trial of Stamps.com. They usually give you $10 or so in postage. Plus, if you use one of the paid 4 sign-up programs, so can get some more money. I think I got $5 for that, and I shipped one of my eBay sales via it. Nice.

I opened my account about 2 weeks ago. My initial $1 deposit was debited from my external account on February 13th. However, in my E*Trade accounts page it doesn't even look like they have my account there (it shows $0 assets). Will it show up when they recieve my signature card? Anyone else having this problem?

FYI, In my welcome package it said I opened with the $25 bonus.

Any word on closing/inactivity fees? I don't see anything in the fine print...
