Most of the links in the quick summary are out of date.

In the Atlanta are there is a bank called Flagstar that is offering a 7.30% APY on a 12 month CD. You just need a checking account set up with them with direct deposit.

They also told me they will guarantee me to beat any local bank CD rate if I keep the direct deposit going into my checking.

I'll probably go in Friday. It's a sweet deal.

Vineyard Bank has lowered their rates (of course). Even though the rate sheet is dated August 20th, their 2-year CD dropped from 5.40% APY last seen 9/14 to 4.08% APY as seen today.

Countrywide branches in California will hold their rates (5.75% APY for a 12-month CD) through Thursday the 27th. The new rate sheets come out on Thursday and the new rates begin on Friday.

If you're going to one of these CA branches, bring something to read. Not only is there a line, the computers are overwhelmed.

This is a good policy for them to keep these rates for the extra week or so to steal a lot of busines from other banks, especially in thier dire need for liquidity situation.

Looks like it's 5.75% APY according to their promotion; and as high as 6.2% if you have IRA, with additional bonus if you have net direct deposit.

The discrepancy is because the 5.75%(6.0% with DD) rate is only for new money.
