FYI - Just thought of something I've not mentioned yet in regards to Citi cards and BT. I do not plan on immediately doing any BT to any of the Citi cards. The Citi promotion offer on all of my cards states that the 12mo 0% BT offer begins on the DATE OF THE FIRST BALANCE TRANSFER for 12 months from that point, so I will roll, for instance, the 6mo BT from National City onto a Citi card after establishing a credit history for several months on those Citi cards, and hopefully larger CL on them as well.

2 Questions.

1) What is the advantage of AOR besides getting free perks and huge credit line?

2) If I have BT offer. Can I reuest let's say 20k of balance transfer to my bank checkcard VISA account?
Will it be treated as CASH advance? If not then I get free 20k money in my bank account earning 5%.

thanks in advance.

1. Sign-up Bonuses and large/additional credit lines to be used for BT are the main advantages and probably why about 90% of FWFers do an AOR. Another advantage is the opportunity to most likely raise your credit score in the long term (after a likely sizable drop for a while).

2. BT transfers to checking or debit cards are YMMV with almost all cc companies. Advanta allowed me to easily transfer BT funds to my checking account over the phone. Chase sent a BT check with my card, and I used it to write myself a check. Just be sure to confirm that the terms of the check coincide with the BT terms (with Chase, the terms were printed on the back of the sheet that the check was attached to). I have seen in other FWF threads that others have had good luck with BT to debit cards through credit unions, and the money goes straight to their checking account, but again, YMMV.

I recently got Chase Rewards card with 0% APR for 1 year. How can I find out if they would consider BT to my checking account via VISA checkcard as cash advance or not? They did not send me any BT checks with it.
Thanks.

0% on purchases or 0% on BT? Makes a big difference.

Assuming you mean 0% on BT, you can probably call them and ask them to send you BT checks that carry the same terms as your BT promo. Write the check to yourself, deposit, and watch the $$$ roll in.

You stated no fees on the BT's for the Citi Cards. If I use those links that you listed to sign up for the cards, how do I get them to take off the fees or was a private offer they gave you?

I just checked the CITI Profesional Card, and when you click the link for T&C, down at the bottom of the box, it still says:

3 % of the amount of each balance transfer, $5 minimum, $50 maximum. However, there is no fee with the 0.00% APR balance transfer offer described above.

Ditto with both the CitiBusiness and CitiBusiness PremierPass cards. Still there on both of them too.

I have 0% APR on BT as well as purchases for 1 year.

If that's the case, then you just need to make sure the checks are not CASH ADVANCE checks.

One more thing (forgot to post this last week when I did it): Since I was approved for all my Citi cards, I (2 weeks after my AOR) applied for the Citi DiamondPreferred as well and was approved for that ($2,000 CL). I think I'll stop there, but I'll always wonder if I could have thrown another Biz card in there too. I'll have to see if ahself gets approval for all 3 of his Biz cards before I get jealous.

Had a little problem yesterday, and now that there has been a resolution, I'll share it. So, this is about the BT I did from the National City Points card to pay off my JetSki ($10,700). When I had called them about my application (see previous post/OP for details) I gave them the address for the payment to be sent to, the payee (HSBC Retail Services), the amount, and the account number. I had thought about it on Tuesday that it was kind of taking a long time to post at the payee, but hadn't had a chance to call National City about it yet. Well, yesterday, I received, in the mail, a $10,700 check made out to the payee. However, it was Capital One who sent me the check. Why did Capital One send me this check? Because National City had sent it to them!!!! They put a little note in there that said "not ours, account does not exist here" and just sent the check in its original form back to me because National City had printed my name and address in the top left corner of the check as the payer. I called National City last night about it, and they apologized for the error, had no idea it had even happened, and couldn't even tell me where the check was actually sent (what address). They said the best thing to do would be to send that check on to the payee myself because that would be quicker than them re-issuing a new check. I was a bit perturbed, but decided to take it to the post office and pop it in Priority Mail to get it there early next week sometime (before the April 1 date that I would begin incurring finance charges). I did indeed go to the Post Office today and get it out, so that was taken care of. When I got home today, I found in the mailbox a bill from National City, with a minimum pmt due in 2 weeks, and I was peeved again. They wanted payment for something that I knew had not reached its destination yet. So I called them again, and I'm very glad I did. They cleared the min payment, and made it where I will have nothing due until the next billing cycle, and they made sure that there will be NO finance charges assessed since it was their error. They also put in a request with management to extend my 0% 6months offer for an additional month because of the lost time. I had to speak with a manager to get this done, but she was happy to do it and apologized repeatedly for the error. Thought it was a nice story and I should share. YMMV of course, but hopefully nobody else has this happen to them in the first place.

Just logged into ThankYouNetwork.com and to my surprise there was 30,000 pts in there waiting for me! I received the 15,000 for each of the CitiBusiness cards (Platinum and PremierPass) and purchased $300 in Target gift cards. Anyone know how long it takes those to show up? This is my first time using ThankYouNetwork.

They usually come within 2 weeks. Not bad at all.

FYI - I signed up with Equifax Gold Credit Monitoring to pull a 2nd time each day on Equifax to help get some of the inquiries off of there quicker. It's a free 30-day trial, so hopefully it will help speed up the bumpage process for EQ.

Question for you:

Do you plan on making the minimum payments to your business card BTs from your personal checking account, or another source? I wonder if they will think anything of it. I guess they are still getting their money, so they wouldn't care.

Methinks they won't care as long as they get the $$$. I plan on using my personal account.

Are you not worried about splitage on your reports due to daily pulls

I hope it doesn't become an issue. If it does, I'll just take care of getting it fixed.

Received my statement from my United Mileage Plus Personal card. 25,000 bonus miles are showing on the cc statement, but not in my United Mileage Plus account yet. Probably takes several days. I'm more concerned about the fact that the bonus miles are NOT showing on the Business Card's statement. I wonder if they're going to hassle me about receiving both bonuses?

alert mods

what was the determination....can we get the 25k miles if we wait for 6 months after closing a CC from chase?? or is it once in a lifetime???

I checked the thread dedicated to that topic..but saw no difinitive answer.

Thanks
