Set up a 1c subscription on one PP account and pay the subscription from another account tied to the debit card. You could set up 2 subscriptions, one every 4 days and the other every 6 or 7 days to get 12 monthly transactions. Each 1c payment would cost 1c PP fee, so the receiving account just gets nothing. It shows up on the bank account as "Purchase PayPal *.... $0.01" |

Just an FYI: the "Join Us" link on their web site was recently updated to remove the "Korean Society / KWA member" option for eligibility. Possibly just to keep the out-of-staters from trying to get in via that loophole. Geez, you'd think they don't want members, nor money to go towards good causes... |

Also, I called the KWA and asked about membership, and they claimed that membership was only for women (yes, even though their website says "open to all"). That was from the director in charge at the time, not just whoever answered the phone. Although of course the form you fill out to send in a check says nothing of the sort.
As for the other one, I dunno if "Korean Society" (as TSCU wrote it) is the same as "The Korea Society". There are lots of "Korean Society of XXX" around, including one of Tacoma, so that might have been what they were talking about. Hence I haven't become a member of The Korea Society yet.
I wouldn't be surprised if they change the interest rate very soon to reduce the surge of hungry requests. |

but paypal fee is: 2.9% + $0.30 USD
so for each 1c subscription, I will get charged $0.30029 everytime.
how did u calculate the 1c PP fee? |

I didn't calculate it. That's what showed up in my receiving PP acct (edit: with a zero balance prior to receiving the payment, and still zero balance post payment). |

PayPal only deducts the fees up to the max charge. So a .01 transaction is charged as a .01 fee. The "receiving party" shows a total receipt of 0 cents. |

I reside in one of the counties they covered and call them. They insist on having me come in to one of the local branches (70 miles away) to apply for membership and open the account. I wonder why they don't allow these to be done over the internet? |

I just had the same problem. They said they can send me an info pack but I would have to go into a branch to open up an account |

btw the CSR also mentioned that "Korean Women Society" and asked if I was redirected from there. Told her not since my residency qualifies me for joining the CU. CSR said they have received a lot of requests recently due to "erroneous information" from the Korean Society. |

So inefficient. I just checked their website and notice that their branches are only open M-F until 5:30pm. It is next to impossible for me to get to their branch during such hours. |
