I activated a PNC card today (initial CL is $8000...I was hoping for ~$20000)...called in to ask for CLI, and CSR said they won't increase CL until card has been active for 6 months. Wonder if they just recently changed policy due to so many AOR players, or should I call back and try another CSR ? They also have an automated phone system where one of the options is asking for a higher CL (I heard the menu option but didn't try it...thought I'd talk to a CSR, then got the "no go" from CSR)...
Any luck getting your CLI from PNC, ahself ? |

No luck on my CLI yet. I called back today and the first CSR I spoke to said her screen showed the status was still pending and I should receive a letter in 7-10 days letting me know the outcome. Not satisfied that she didn't really check on it like other CSRs did, I called back and spoke to a different CSR. She called underwriting and reported back that it's still pending (being reviewed), that it usually takes a few days and I should call back in the next day or so to check.
If I were you, I'd just call back and talk to another CSR. Including the CSR I spoked to initially (on Monday), not one of the four CSRs has mentioned that my card needs to be active for 6 months. Maybe the CSR you spoke to just came over from Discover. |

A few updates: - Logged into my PNC account today and saw my new CL of $20k...success!
- After analyzing my potential BT monies further, I decided to go ahead and request a CLI increase on my Starwoods personal card to help with my overall utilization. I figured it was pretty low risk since I'm not planning on using any of my AMEX credit for BTs.
- I deposited four BT checks (Sony - $17,600, Discover - $7,040, Citi Professional - $22,880, and Juniper - $13,200) totaling $60,720 in my checking account. Interesting note: Last night, I deposited the first two checks separately via separate ATM deposits and they showed up in my account online almost immediately...however, the ATM couldn't read the second two and after depositing them as one deposit at the bank today, they were placed on hold. So, I won't have access to $36,080 until 4/16.
- Related to those check amounts, I chose to go with BTs of 88% of CL so far. Now that I've received the PNC CLI, I realize that I'm not going to be able to stay under 50% utilization if I use all of the personal BT money available to me, even at 88%.
- Right now, I plan on splitting up the BT money between at least two HYSAs: Countrywide (5.4%) and iGo (5.3%). I may open up others if I decide I need to keep any of the money separate for some reason. |

Funds availability holds on BT checks can be a big hassle if deposited into a low/no interest checking account before going to their "final" destination.
In my case, I'll go ahead and use my lunch break to drive down to my local Fidelity office and make the same-day deposit so they'll sit in a MMF until the hold clears (and the hold is often shorter than it would be through someone like BofA anyway). If local deposit is not an option, I'd probably still rather go with a mail-in deposit (few days wait) instead of risk a long hold (two weeks wait). |

Good suggestion about mailing them in. I guess I figured I'd have less of a wait with an account I've had for a long time versus one I just set up (e.g. iGo). And, since the two I deposited via ATM cleared quickly, I wasn't sure I'd even have a hold on the other two. Now I know.
BTW, I looked into your earlier suggestion of opening up a Fidelity account and getting bonus miles +$100, but it appears I'm not eligible since I already have my 401k through them. Wish that weren't the case. |

A few updates: - While I mentioned that I requested a CLI on my Starwoods personal card yesterday, I failed to mention that it was instantly approved for $24,500...updated in OP.
- Received my ATT card today. CL was only $7,500.
- Still, my total new CL after this AOR is $228,000 (factoring in a few CLIs).
- Since my existing Citi AA personal card was coming up on it's first year renewal and the $85 annual fee, I've been thinking about what I should do with it. I only applied for it last year to get the miles (before I knew much about CCs, CLs, BTs, AORs, etc.), haven't used it at all after the first month and don't want to pay the fee. So, I called CS and asked if I could consolidate it into the ATT card. CSR said sure, no problem, and in a few minutes it was done. I checked online and the new balance is already reflected for the ATT card.
- Now, if I want to use much of the ATT BT money, I'll have an issue of too much utilization - greater than 50% across all of my personal CCs. I submitted a CLI request on my existing BoA Worldpoints card in the hopes that it'll help improve my utilization...fingers crossed. |

Logged into BoA Worldpoints CC account online today and noticed my new CL of $20,000...yay.
Since my Schwab CL is so low and I could still use some help for my overall utilization if I want to take advantage of all the personal BT money available to me, I decided to go ahead and request a CLI for that card too...fingers crossed, again. |

A few updates: - Logged into my Schwab CC account online today and noticed my new CL of $10,000...not a huge increase, but will help my overall utilization nonetheless.
- Received my PNC welcome/BT checks yesterday, one week after I received the CC (and ~2.5 weeks after initial approval). I'm going to wait to use them until I pay off my PNC balance.
- Initiated BT of $12,000 from BoA business card to Citi Professional card. Called BoA and was told that I could BT to my checking account (assumedly business checking...didn't ask), but I offered up the CC option. Gave CSR my CC # and she saw that it was the Citi Professional card and initiated the transfer.
- Lastly, I noticed that my EQ credit score jumped up 24 points in one day. The change to EQ reporting was that the PNC and Citi Professional cards showed up. However, it appeared that those are what caused my EXP score to drop a few days back. Any thoughts on why the sudden increase in my EQ score? I thought I knew a fair amount about factors that increase/decrease credit scored, but was surprised by the fairly sizeable jump. |

My local bank put a hold on my big $28K check from Chase. The hold was exactly 1 week. I guess that's not too bad. I think they only hold checks for >$10K. I don't think any of my other checks are for greater than that amount.

Coincidentally, I received welcome/BT checks for the BoA business CC yesterday in the mail...obviously, I won't use them now. The only stipulations are that they can't be used to pay down any FIA Card Services issued account or any Bank of America credit card account. However, it clearly states in the letter accompanying the checks that they can be deposited into my checking account.
***Looking for advice... After posting back and forth with Pakaderm and reading his BT strategy, re-reading Dave Hanson's BT strategies, and reading ntyr's recent plea for help after finding out his insurance premiums increased following a recent AOR (and credit score decline), I'm re-thinking my own BT strategy and wondering how to reallocate some of the total BT money available to me. One idea I had is to use the Citi Business cards' BT funds to pay down some of my personal CC (BT) balances. After doing this between the BoA business card and the Citi Professional card, I wondered why I couldn't do this with others.
I've figured out that I have enough business BT money available to get each of my personal cards below 50% utilization. Since the business cards don't report on my CR, max'ing those lines shouldn't affect my scores.
Any flaws in this thinking or issues I should be aware of?
Thanks, |

One potential gotcha: the terms on some Bus cards (Discover?) explicitly forbid personal use. It may only be a few cards (I haven't looked carefully); they may not be likely to catch it, etc. I'm just pointing it out. (My business has enough cash flow that I was able to keep the 2 separate.)
In any case, the idea of an initial high BT (especially that can go right to checking), followed by paying that down to 49% from another card (especially one that CAN'T go directly to checking) is a great strategy. |

A few updates: - Sony CC showed up in Experian and coincided with a new bill.
Checked on the status of some expected rewards: - Received 15k TY points for CitiProf card on 4/6 - Received 5,600 TY points for ATT card on 4/11. Trying to figure out why 5,600 and not 6,000. I noticed Unbelieevable's and WalStMonky's posts on this and was hoping it wouldn't affect me. - Received 25k United miles for United personal CC on 4/11. Paid bill on 4/7 and received miles at statement close. - I decided to use $10k of the BT money to open a Fidelity account (thread) and see if I could get one or both of the $100 and AA miles signup bonuses. Opened the account on 4/10 and received $100 on 4/12 and 15k AA miles on 4/13. Since the miles posted so quickly, I'll probably deposit another $40k to get the remaining 10k miles available under the promotion. Thanks for the suggestion markkundinger! |

Update: Sent a secure email via web site (as WalStMonky did) and got a response back to call ThankYou Network. I called them and, as I suspected, was told they don't have anything to do with the amount. So, I sent another secure email and got a response back to call ATT Citi customer service. I called and talked to a nice CSR who said their records showed I signed up for the 5,600 TY point offer. She asked if I had any documentation showing the 6,000 point offer and I read her the terms from the screen shot I captured. So, she filed a dispute for the missing 400 points and said it should be credited on my next statement. |

I love it when CSRs make stuff up to avoid work. Where the heck are they offering 5600 points for a sign up, and what good would it be? The 5600 point offer indeed. pfui. |

Agree. Before I read her the terms of my offer, I pointed out that the 6,000 point offer is on the ATT Universal card home page and I hadn't even seen a 5,600 point offer. However, both she and the TY Network CSR I talked to appeared to read language from a 5,600 point offer. ATT Citi obviously has incorrect signup terms in the background somewhere. |

A few updates:
- I decided to go ahead and transfer another $40k into the Fidelity account to get the remaining 10k AA miles. - Successfully BT'd $13,650 from the Citi Business card to the Sony and Juniper CCS, bringing them both down to 49% utilization. - BT'd $17,600 to checking via PNC welcome checks.
Related to the BT'ing from the business cards to personal ones, I thought I'd outline my plans a little more. As I mentioned before, I planned to use the BT money from the business cards to pay down and lower the utilization on the personal cards with BT balances (which are all currently at ~88%). As luck would have it, based on their CLs, I have just above what I need in the business cards to BT ~89% from those accounts and bring the personal accounts with BT balances down to 49%. In addition, this will lower my overall personal utilization to just below 30%. Good thing I did the CLIs on some of my cards...pretty amazing how the numbers appear to be working out.
So, I've figured out that I'll be BT'ing about $148,000 overall - $100,000 from my personal CC accounts (which will be sitting in HYSAs, primarily AmTrust at 5.36% APY) and ~$48,000 from the business CC accounts. |

A few updates: - Several cards finally showed up in TU, dropping the score a good bit (36 points). - Received $50 PNC credit the day after I paid off my balance (on 4/20). - Received 10,000 Starwood Points at statement close and payoff of personal card (on 4/12). - I decided to take MyPoints up on the E-LOAN offer and open an account for 7,500 points. |

You said no balance transfer fee in some of your posts. I read a number of the cards and that say $5.00 to $75.00 or 3% on balance transfers. Do they waive the fee on the intial transfer? Do they do this by phone? Can you trust them?
I am looking to transfer $10,000 to a 0% card for 12 months. I want one with no balance tranfer fee. I do not care about other perks such as miles. Any recommendations?
Thank you, |

Thank you,
I tried to put the BT terms next to all of the cards I applied for in my OP (summary). Of the cards I used, only Juniper and Sony have BT fees and those were capped at $50 and $75 respectively...they didn't waive the fee and I didn't ask them to. Neither the Citi cards nor the Discover card charged a BT fee. While there are lots of 0% offers out there, you should be able to find a few 0% offers at Citi's or Discover's web site (or by searching the Finance forum). Just make sure they have the terms you're looking for. |
