First post of this kind so please don't flame me. I just received an offer from BoA to activate a program called Autovantage Enhanced (24hr roadside assistance/help with auto financing/etc.). The program itself isn't that great of a deal at $14.99/month, but the inclusion of $40.00 worth of Lowe's gift cards for activation seems pretty hot. Especially considering that you can cancel the program during the free trial and still receive and keep the gift cards. So that's $40.00 in Lowe's gift cards for activating and then canceling a service. Anybody heard of this Autovantage Enhanced program before, or its parent company Trilegiant? I searched BoA and didn't see this offer posted thus far, but I know its restricted to BoA checking account holders. I figure since everyone has gotten their $75-$125 in cash from them, why not get an extra $40.00. Thanks guys, and don't burn me too hard.

I received this offer as well. Straight into the shredder.

Good deal guys, green for y'all.

if you do a search in the archives and active threads...this is posted often...trilegiant does these programs....not worth anything but some free gift cards...

As maddy said, this has been posted many times. See Here Autovantage is a great program to join however, as it's basically the same thing as AAA and they have some serious retention quality. I tried to quit the free service (with 40$ signup bonus) twice and both times got my free trial extended by 2 months. Ended up with ~5 months of free AAA with the original signup bonus and an additional set of 5$ rebates usable in individual time spans (only one of which could be used during the trial period).

Had a guy come out and jump the car during this time and it cost nothing. The Autovantage program gets two thumbs up from me as a free service. Wouldn't pay 15$ a month for it, but if they're paying you... take it.

Hi Maddy, FWL,
just curious, Do they send gift card automatically after sign-up? or you have to send some kind of documents.

I vaguely remember signing up for one of their link last year through Buy.com, where you have to send them Buy.com purchase receipt and they give you 25$ back.

Thanks in advance!

dbdn145 said: just curious, Do they send gift card automatically after sign-up? or you have to send some kind of documents. If it's at all like every other time I've tried a Trilegiant program, there will be a voucher that you must fill out and return. There was a recent program which required a voucher to be sent to obtain the reward voucher....voucher's for vouchers! I hope these don't repeat that ploy.

Trilegiant is officially my favorite trial company. They are the best 'profit sharing' group around. Long live Trilegiant! Lord knows, I've been trying to drown them in red for years.

yeah, there is a little postcard you have to fill out in the enrollment package to get the gift cards....

True value=47.50. Good deal nonetheless, in!

Some TLG programs let you do it all online though.... Look out for an email that says something like "here is the information you requested".

On their website, they must have 20 or so programs. I am at home on dial up, so I would shoot myself if I had to go through all of them, but I checked out buyers advantage and they are offering a $20 Circuit City gift card.

Do I smell a TOR (Trilegiant-O-Rama) brewing?

I got the mail from BOA. The most interesting part is I didn't have the checking/saving account with BOA. These were closed since Sep 06.

There's certainly some freebies to be had here...over $200 worth + whatever the value of the airline ticket would be if you did that offer. I've seen people do more for less.

Seems like Trilegiant's standard offer is $20 for most of these deals, but different affiliates give better bonuses. If only there was a website somewhere that tracked the best deals for all of their various programs...

CompleteHome link also available when you sign for AutoVantage.

edit: looks like you can sign up multiple times as long as you use a different card.

I've been signing up for and cancelling the programs over and over for the last 4-5 months. I think I've joined Great Fun three times. They get the gift cards out to you quick, and it's easy to cancel.

Thanks but when I click through the BofA site it takes me to a site that actually says Banc of America in the IE title bar. That's weird.

I got a COBY 7" dvd player for signing up for Elite Travel discount program. Cancelled immediately after i recieved it. Not bad for a freebie. I did get the offer through snail mail. about $80 value.

yeah i signed up too, but i needed to send a postcard to claim the player, how soon they sent you the player?

citi credit protector trial is the best - $100 gas rebate.

my criteria for taking these offers is at least 100 revenue.

Hi,
I just signed up for the AuotVantage offer ($50 ExonMobil) and before I finished it also offered me a deal with CompleteHome using same info. for a $50 Lowe's (yes 50), $100 in one shot. I'll take that.

it says only for BOA customers....I do not have an account, can I still sign up? On the enrollment form, it does not ask me for BOA account number anywhere....let me know guys...

javaman,
do you have a link to this signup? Is it still valid?

This was great - signed up for both $50 Exxon and $50 Lowes. Great! $100 to remember to cancel two programs - I can deal with that!

Yes you have to send the postcard. The card and original offer talked about 5" screen but i got a 7" screen. It came with 4weeks i think.

Is my understanding correct?
To receive free 1-mo trial and $50 Exxon card, one can simply fill-out form at:
www.autovantage.com/global/scripts/promo.asp?ref=avBOAon50gas01&adlink=000302029q610000g046

and (not)being BofA customer has NO BEARING ??

I am also wondering about that?

can you use a prepaid cc card to enroll, with say $1 on it?

drPedro said: Thanks but when I click through the BofA site it takes me to a site that actually says Banc of America in the IE title bar. That's weird. That is odd, but the URL looks right so I wouldn't worry about it. It's just a page title.

rajthebam said: it says only for BOA customers....I do not have an account, can I still sign up? On the enrollment form, it does not ask me for BOA account number anywhere....let me know guys... The only account number requested is that of a credit card. I used a BoA issued card; in my case that was the 'Motley Fool VISA'. It worked fine for both BoA affiliate programs. It seems likely that any BoA CC would work. If the system is smart, yes 'if', it will reject CC account numbers which don't qualify. I'm not pressing my luck by trying other issuer's cards though.

Bank of America's Insurance and Investment divisions (non-FDIC insured, non-Bank divisions) go by the Banc of America name, IE Banc of America Investment Services and Banc of America Insurance.

Funny, this looks exactly like an excel sheet I drew up to keep track of my rebates and other signup bonus crud. I signed up for probably 1/2 of these, got the bonus for each of them.

With the Autovantage thing there was a voucher (shock!), but I sent it in and got the $40 check in a month or two. I don't remember what other thing I had to include (it might have been an oil change receipt or something), but I sent it and got the check with no problems.

You can go through Dealbarbiepays.com for some of these Trilegiant offers to get additional bonus money on top of the gift cards. DBP tends to offer $10-$15 per deal. DBP works like Ebates in which you get a kickback from the advertiser for each offer. I love it!

Just type in the name of the program that you want to sign up for in the "Offers" search box to see if DBP has it listed. If it's not listed, you can submit a request through the "Request Offer" link. Enjoy!

Here are a few more interesting affiliate offers I managed to dig up:

Auto Vantage - avHSChsbconl01

    $40 gas rebate
    $1 first month
same as default promo, but has unique ref code

Complete Home - hmeJNPR20loB01

    $20 Lowes gift card
    $1 first month
same as default promo, but has unique ref code

Great Fun - gfINFINITYrbt01

$20 cash rebate on *any* purchase
    free first month

Great Fun - gfCHOHOT20gc04

    $20 Choice+Hotels gift card
    free first month

Great Fun - gfJUNIPERob2001

$20 cash rebate on a dining purchase
    $1 first month

Everyday Values - edvMYPemspnm01

$20 Bed Bath & Beyond gift card
    $1 first month

-----

The 'also rans' (less desirable/profitable types):

PC Safety Plus - pcsAZOOGLEon05

    $10 Circuit+City gift card
    $1 first month
warning! - program involves use of an installed software product

Privacy Guard - pgAAAmoTEXT01

3 months for $1; that's one more month than the default site offer

-----

For a few of those across the 'pond':

Leisure Time

    20 GBP Petrol rebate
    1 GBP first month

-----

There are a few I left out, like the Privacy Drive USB cash rebate deal, a 64MB USB drive as the incentive and a Trio MP3 player cash rebate offer since they reference a specific product purchase.

I suspect that any CC is good for these programs and that each distinct program can be enrolled multiple times across multiple CC accounts but that different affiliate offers from the same program should not be enrolled simultaneously to the same credit card. If you try to 'double up' to a single card, you are doing so at your own risk. Even having multiple enrollments in the same program (but on separate CCS) could conceivably confuse the claims processing center. Nevertheless, the currently popular $100 Citibank gas program does seem to allow multiple claims to the same department #.

It has been my experience that even the $1 trial charge is sometimes refunded. I don't know if it just depends on the CSRs or what.

How (or even if) affiliate membership is verified is a mystery to me. From the look of it, these programs don't have actual verification requirements.

Note - I strongly suspect that the Health Saver program's $40 incentive is divided into four separate $10 vouchers. That same program also charges the $149.99 annual fee immediately following the trial.

Actually, when you sign up for one service, they usually offer you another $20 gift for signing up for another service at the same time with the same card. I've done it multiple times and had no problems.

mmaxSavings said: Be careful if you get "the letter" saying your accounts have been closed and you are banned. I received it on two services I signed up for and they proceeded to charge me for them once the trial was over anyway.

The main goal of those letters is not to inform you that there won't be any more giftcards, but to (mis)lead you to think that you don't need to cancel (while you're still in your trial period). Don't get be misled:
1) call to cancel your trial membership
2) demand the gift card (and you'll receive it)
