Is that fact that he was Indian pertinant to the issue? If yes, how so? If not, why mentioned? |

I just called Citi to decline the card. They asked me why and I mentioned that I was afraid it would hurt my credit score. The CSR said that I was correct and that many are rejecting the card for that reason. |

Wow, that does it for me.
I have no dividend dollars. I don't use it for purchases. I have a for life deal the brochure was very reassuring that all promotional rates will continue as promised.
But this card is one of my highest limits. If it stops reporting it will kill my utilization. If the CSR is even admitting it won't report, I'm definitely going to decline.
It is funny that only the very low end (Cap 1) and the high end (Signature and World) don't report limits. That is pretty messed up that they can hurt your credit score like that. |

An approach some might want to take is to transfer all but $1,000 of their credit line from the Diamond Rewards to another Citi card and allow the conversion to World take place. That is if you want the benefits of the World card, but are concerned about losing some reporting credit limit. This way you get the World card, and preserve your limit (albeit on another card).
I did this inadvertently when I transferred most of my Citi lines to a new Citi Upromise 0% card in preparation for a balance transfer. I now only have $1,000 on my Diamond Rewards so I think I'll just let the conversion to World card take place and see what happens. As long as the account history remains I come out at least even. I bet there's a fair chance my limit will actually be increased...$1,000 seems low for a World MC. |

I mentioned above that I have two Dividend Platinum Citi cards and got the offer to switch on both of them. A bit of trivia... after comparing the mailings I got for each card, it turns out one mailing offered the same APR as the card it was for, while the other mailing showed my APR would be 1/4% less than the card it was for. No big deal, really, but perhaps those who are going to switch ought to check the offer. |

Yea, I got something in the mail for my diamond rewards card and I'm going to go ahead and reject it. I have a perfect credit score and have never done anything to hurt it and I really don't want to do it right now.
*edit* - I just declined mine and I mentioned the thing about them reporting that you are spending the max every month even though you aren't and the CSR said that they don't do that and that that would be fraud. He said that that was absurd that anyone would think that. |

I just called to decline, the benefits just did not outweigh what I was originally receiving. |

No thanks. I just called to Opt Out because I have a problem with the change in account numbers... Not giving up 11 years of credit history for a shiny new card. |

Of course there's no guarantee that this will always happen, but, when converting cards to other card types with Citi, I have never lost any credit history - even when the number changes. The new card shows up on my credit report with the same account opening date as the one it replaced. |

It's not absurd, it's just the way it sometimes works. My other non-CL-reporting cards like this use your maximum ever monthly balance as your "credit limit". If you routinely spend the same amount every month, it'll look like you're near 100% utilization. If you go crazy one month, then you'd be set. Other cards use your current month's balance as your "credit limit", which would always look like 100% utilization.
Some people actively seek out cards like this because they hide your total amount of available credit. This can sometimes make securing more credit easier since the pulling company can only really "see" part of your available credit limit.

True, especially when others have already confirmed with Citi earlier in the thread that they will for certain be transferring account history to the new number. |

I got the Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards Card back in June of 2004 where you get 5 points for every $1 spent at grocery, gas, and drugstores and 1 point for every $1 spent for all else and have been getting those rates every since. I also was very skeptical and just called and declined the upgrade. The upgrade would have changed the account number which is not a big deal (a pain maybe) however I didn't want to take any chance on some hidden term negating the rewards points rate I was receiving or the number of rewards points for airline ticket redemption that I was getting (regardless of what I was told over the phone about nothing changing). Also when I signed on back in 2004 there was no $75000 per year limit on rewards earning and I believe I still have no limit (not that I've every hit it). Of course they can change the program at any time they want (and other cards I used to have did this prompting me to switch to this card) but I'm going to keep going with what I have until they do. |

i received the same mail, i am kind of like it. i don't understand why so many people declined this upgrade. there is one upgrade that not many credit cards offer that, Price Protection; If something purchased on your Citi Dividen World MasterCard is adverticsed for less in print within 60 days. you'll be refunded the difference up to $250. (Excludes internet purchases and certain intems) also the Retail Purchase Protection |

Diamond Card always had that benefit, but good luck when trying to use it. I'm also rejecting this offer. |

Not that we have anything against people from India, but it is known that outsourced Indian (Hindu?) CSRs have limited ability to help solve our problems other than the usual "Turn off PC, Reset Modem, Reset Router... then refer us to Level 2 Tech support" |

According to this new thread, some current Dividend MC holders are getting a pamphlet saying that they are being reverted back to 5% indefinitely. What I want to know is, how do we get in on that deal??? I'm now inclined to reject the "upgrade" to a World card just to see whether they give me back the 5%. |
