Email or US mail invite?
Anybody else?
not the Elite card, correct?
Email. I'm almost positive that I have the regular card, not the elite.

The only way you can possibly get that to work would be if the airline coded the transaction as a flight transaction (so it shows up on your statement as "EWR > JFK 5/22/2009 $5".

Unfortunately in my experience, baggage check fees, on board charges, etc, show up on the credit card as "YYY to YYY" (non-extant airport codes), and do not get the flight points.

Remember! NEVER call customer service asking about a loophole!

Does this still work for people? I was getting them as recently as September but on my October statement all those onboard purchases haven't credited. The flight points for the actual flights marked on the same day have though.

Here's to hoping it works - they show up on my statement as:
DEPART: date here
JFK TO SFO : actual airline here : CLASS: stuff : STOP: more stuff

Details obscured to protect the guilty

Anyone have their flights not automatically show up? I bought air tickets while I was in China through eLong, which is actually an Expedia company. However, it doesn't detect the purchase as a air ticket. Has anyone encountered this situation before? Were you able to get the points by calling Citi?

You are referring to flight miles I presume, since there is no special points treatment for purchasing tickets using PPE (1% TYP like everything else).

PPE has an annoying habit of not automatically crediting flight miles on tickets I have purchased with the card (success rate is only about 50%). Have called the PPE CSRs on many occasions. Same spiel every time:

1. Wait until 6 weeks after flight, then call back if points don't post.
2. After 6 weeks, they will take down some information (e.g., flight origin and destination, approximate mileage flown) and ask you to send boarding passes to confirm.
3. After another month or two, they credit a seemingly random amount of flight points that may or may not equal the estimated mileage flown that you provided.
4. When I have misplaced boarding passes, it has been hit or miss to get this credit with just a printout of the itinerary.
5. Have been able to get flight mile credits when purchased through a travel aggregator (e.g., Priceline, Travelocity, etc).

Never had any experience with a non-domestic airline/travel aggregator. Hope the boarding pass is printed in English.

An FYI for those with PPE, just received a mailing from Citi stating:

"We are writing to inform you that the point expiration policy for any ThankYou Points earned with your Citi PremierPass Card - Elite Level is changing. Effective January 1, 2010 all ThankYou Points earned with your card, including points you earned before this date, will not expire as long as you make a qualifying purchase at least once every 18 months from the end of the month in which the points are earned."

How hard is it to get this card? My girlfriend is 21 and has no credit.

PPE is not easy. It needs perfect credit score.
