Not sure about the Starwood card. If you're making a decent amount off bonuses, then it's fine. For the CitiBus TYN card, click on the card and click "Apply Now." When the application loads, either press Back on the browser or close the window/tab. A pop-up will come up with an offer to get 5000 additional TYP's on top of the 10k original TYP's. Basically, the pop-up link gives you 15k TYP's instead of 10k.

For the Citi PremierPass card, ask in the newbie thread if you apply for the PremierPass Elite card and get denied, whether you automatically be considered for the regular PremierPass card. If yes, go for the PremierPass Elite AMEX card. It has a $75 annual fee but you get 20k TYP's instead of 10k. After the first year, downgrade it to the regular PremierPass card.

Also, if I see right, you don't have a good every day card. I think you'll need good scores for the Citi Platinum AMEX card, but if you get it, it's a really nice card. 15k TYP bonus, $125 annual fee waived for 1st year, lots of benefits, and for the first 24 months you get 5TYP's for every $1 spent on supermarkets/drug stores/gas stations and 3TYP's for all other purchases.

If you're a college student, Citi's mTVU card for college students is a good rewards card as well. Don't load up on Citi cards and apply for like 6 cards, but consider the ones that are good everyday cards.

One last thing; don't get your hopes up for any of the business cards. The Citi Professional card might help but I wouldn't be so sure. Just know if you get any, you're lucky.

They give you 15k TYP up front now, and the popup opens then immediately closes when you navigate away (it almost looks like the website development team 'shorted out' the page that opens in the popup with javascript that automatically closes the window onLoad instead of just removing the popup javascript on the application page; its not a popup blocker doing this).

Will do...

I do have a good collection of everyday cards. My Citi Rewards card pays me 5% for groceries (which thanks to Bush/Iraq/Congress/An invisible pink unicorn/etc groceries have skyrocketed even after I've cut back my delicious eating habits), my Household card does 2% on everything, and my Amazon card (which I do a fair bit of purchasing through Amazon) pays me 3% on Amazon purchases. That Citi Platinum AMEX pays 5% on groceries and 3% on everything else (for 24 months), so the only card it'd really replace is my Household 2% card.

If you're a college student, Citi's mTVU card for college students is a good rewards card as well.

I'm not a college student.

Don't load up on Citi cards and apply for like 6 cards, but consider the ones that are good everyday cards.

I'm not. As far as I know, I can do 2 personal cards, 2 Professionals, 2 business cards, and 1 Associated Bank. I currently have 1, 1, 0, and 0 (in that order), so I still have room for 1, 1, 2, and 1 (in that order), and I'm not going after another Pro (I think I'd be denied because my current Pro is only 6 months old)

One last thing; don't get your hopes up for any of the business cards. The Citi Professional card might help but I wouldn't be so sure. Just know if you get any, you're lucky.

I have a WAMU Bus, so its not like my Bus report is empty (though I haven't figured out how to actually check it). And my Citi Pro reports to my personal report anyhow, its really a personal card issued by Citi's bus credit department.

There's a 10k TYP offer link, where you can use this 'trick' to get an additional 5k points. Not sure why this roundabout way is recommended so often, when a straight 15k TYP offer is available.

alert mods

Well, when I got my Pro card that trick was available, and there wasn't a straight forward method. Now, if I just go straight through citicards.com to apply (no special offers or links) it offers me 15k TYP straight up for the CitiBus TYN. Maybe something new?

alert mods

That's for the business card, not the pro card.

Why are you still posting when you haven't finished submitting your apps yet?

This isn't an AOR thread:

craftsmd said:DiabloD3 said:BTW, elleve, don't you have anything better to do than red my posts in my own AOR thread?

Probably because this isn't an "AOR Thread"...it's more of a slow-motion train wreck in progress...

Read carefully what I wrote.

I haven't started yet. I still have some steps I need to take first, such as taking my Sony's CL and moving it to my Amazon card.

alert mods

I was under the impression you were a college student and I've been approved for a Professional card but not Business so I was just going off my experience. What I meant with applying for 6 Citi cards was taking what you had listed plus taking mine/other's recommendations (if they give any).

Anyway, your AOR looks to be pretty thought out. Good luck with paying off the current balances and getting it started.

alert mods

Ugh, change of plans, I'm going to pull the trigger on one of the business cards... I wanna grab the CitiBus TY card before they change the TYP bonus deal again. I have an HSBC checking, a Chase checking, I don't have a Citi checking, and you can see what cards I own. Who am I safe BTing the money to?

alert mods

Change *which* TYP deal? Citibank has been offering 15k on Citibusiness and CitiProfessional cards for 2 years now, it's been a fairly stable deal.

alert mods

The 15k TYP deal. I've seen a lot of bonuses go away thanks to the credit crunch, and I really don't wanna miss out on it.

I asked elsewhere on FWF, but can anyone confirm if BT -> HSBC debit card still works?

Edit: $DIETY has smiled upon me! AMEX just sent me an offer in the mail for AMEX Blue, 12mo 0% on purchases AND BTs, $99 max fee; the one via their website has no BT offer.

alert mods

Ugh. My balances are not as low as they should be, my credit score (all three are between 700-710) are not as good as they should be, but I'm going to try and see if I can do this. I'm seriously tired of waiting, and the fact that this is clearly an imperfect AOR situation should provide interesting data points.

Also, I'm going to try shuffling Citi money through my HSBC debit card, it should still work if it worked for others recently in the past few months.

Although they both start with "d", 'deferred' in no way indicates 'denied'.

alert mods

For me, it usually does. Out of like ten applications I've gotten deferred on, I maybe got one or two, and one I had to talk them into.

Oh f#@%.

Current Inqs:
Equifax: 2 (up from 1)
TransUnion: 4 (up from 0)
Experian: 17 (up from 8)

I wonder if I could dispute hard inquiries and get away with it.

Disputing EXP inquiries is a waste of time, unless you plan to follow through with suing them for not investigating a dispute.

Can you post who pulled where?

alert mods

Glich99, whats the big DB that everyone is using for pull reports? I know creditboards has one, but I don't think anyone adds to it anymore

For some reason all my TransUnion inqs disappeared off my Chase ID Protection report, I'm not sure whats going on. I'll try pulling it again tommorow.

Edit: I tried something really funny to see if it'd work... I applied for an HSBC Platinum 12 mo 0% BT /w $75 max fee right after I made this post, and they approved it for $3500. I guess space monkeys can work both ways, that makes three cards I know I've been approved for.

Edit 2: I'll clean up the inq formatting for the op post when everything is done settling out

Edit 3: I just checked Yodlee for unrelated reasons, and my two new Chase cards already showed up; they both opened at $5k.

Personally, it sounds like you may have an addiction. You really shouldn't be applying for credit for fun, without a plan. Please pull back and breathe.
