Cash advances, ATM transactions and purchases made with a PIN do not qualify. All reward programs subject to change without prior notification. Earned rewards may be lost if customers choose to switch check card reward programs. Customers may elect only one Checking That Pays reward program per account.

The number to call and sign up in the email is 1-800-720-BANK. The link in the email takes you to the same place if you just go to usbank.com and then click on checking to signup. There was nothing verifying this deal was offered. I recommend calling the number to qualify.

I have uploaded an image of the email here: US Bank $125 Bonus

Just fyi: my experience with this bank in the past has been terrible- among other issues, but perhaps most importantly though, their last bonus language stated they would allow monthly recurring deposits to satisfy the bonus requirement. I tried this, and was denied the sign-up bonus as my deposits did not originate from my employer (just set up ach from chkg). So, ymmv. Best of luck to the rest of you!

Holy hannah they offer 0.01% and call it interest checking. Oh, that's on a min balance of 10k. Katie bar the door, the rate chasers are going to stampede.

OP, did your email come with a link you can share?

The link within the email takes you to the standard US Bank checking signup screen. The links were the same as if I just went to the USbank.com website and clicked on Checking. I would recommomend calling the 1800 number to set this up.

Will this cost a hard pull also?

They rejected by bonus last time because direct deposit was originating from a bank but ultimately paid after receiving a "nasty reminder".

My personal experiences with U.S. bank has been extremely poor at best. Although 125 dollars is a very nice sign up bonus, their insanely poor customer serivce doesn't make that amount worth the effort too me. Save yourself the trouble and find a much better place to bank.

just called they are closed. Has anyone gotten this, I have been waiting to move to them because of their over draft program but not until there is a sign up bonus. Instead I went to Bank of America for their $75 bonus but can't wait to get the hell out of there!

I applied for a new checking account in February in person (as a new customer). They only did a soft pull on me, plus checked Checksystems. I was also pre-approved for a 7K Visa card at the same time. No hard pull for the Visa also. YMMV.

If direct deposits are required from an employer to get the bonus, then PayPal pushes won't count. That's unless you can convince them you work for PayPal, or you can convince them all that PayPal pushing was from self-employment auction income.

I called the 1-800 number. Representative informed me that currently no promotion is going on for checking account with direct deposit.

He said unless I have recieved promotional offer from US bank in mail.

yes hard pull according to the agent, I just signed up. The deal is you get the $125 after first direct deposit from employer. You have to open with $100, you can go under $100 after that.

The agent knew right away about the offer, even quoted the July 31st end date of promotion. The agent was out of Eureka, Oregon (NOT INDIA THANK GOD!). Wonderful customer service.

He also let me sign up for the sweet overdraft protection that only US Bank offers, where there are no fees, just a 21% intrest rate on the money they cover you on ($200 increments are moved over to your checking account), its about $2 a day, sure as hell beats Union Bank who charges $30 for every overdraft they pay

US Bank always does a hard pull when you open an account online, and never when you open in person. That's what they told me their policy was, when I opened an account in person. They did a number of soft pulls in the months after that, and when I finally applied for a Visa card from them online, they gave me instant approval with a $5000 limit. They also sent the card very fast.

Their customer service is not nearly as bad as BoA's. From the very first message I sent to US Bank's customer service, before I had an account, they have always read my messages and responded to them. Most other banks email CSR's just glance at the message, jump to a conclusion about what it's saying, and select a boilerplate answer from a menu. And if they can't even find anything in the ballpark on their menu, they select the one that tells you to call them. Then, when you call, and refer to the message you sent, they have no idea what you're talking about, and are not aware that you can send them messages online, nor how to look at those messages.
