I posted this in the Bank of America master thread, but I've received no response...

I've been looking for a BofA business credit card with no (or capped) BT fees. This page claims "No fees for balance transfers" as one of the features for the card. However, if you open the Terms and Conditions from the application page, you will find this little gem:

"Cash Advance Fees (including Convenience Checks, Balance Transfers and Overdraft Protection): 3% each transaction (min. $10)."

There's an obvious conflict here. My question is this: Has anyone successfully avoided BT fees on a BofA business card by pointing a CSR to the promo page?

If nobody has tried this, I'm willing to give it a shot in my next AOR.

In my past experience outside of BofA, I applied for zero APR cards, however transaction fees weren't disclosed. They were ambiguous. I got approved and after talking to CS, I found out BT fees were waived for the 1st 3 months only ! So this one may require opening the account and then speaking to CS. sorry that's all the input I can offer.

Personally, I recently have not been able to find any waived BT fees! Are there any 0% APR cards that have no BT fees?

Plenty of no fee BTs from several issuers here.

A couple of no fee BT BofA personal cards here.

However, I'm looking specifically for a BofA business card with favorable BT terms. Why? Business lines typically don't appear on your personal credit reports.

I'm willing to bet the "No fees for balance transfers" is for the introductory period and coincides with the "0% fixed introductory annual percentage rate (APR) on purchases and balance transfers (not cash advances) for 9 months". The 3% fee is probably the standard language and applies after the introductory period (i.e. 9 months) is over.

I applied for a BoA Platinum Business card during my AOR and the terms were the same...also had the same introductory period.

I'm willing to bet the "No fees for balance transfers" is for the introductory period

that would be ideal.

ahself, thanks for the data point. i noticed from your AOR thread your offer was targeted. i've always been told the T&C page overrules any other promotional wording. did your T&C page have the same conflicting "3% each transaction (min. $10)" wording?

if these BofA business BT offers are truly no fee, they should start to show up on everyone's AOR radar.

Send an email or call and ask. I applied for a 6mo 0% intro bt apr w/ 3% bt fees preapproved power rewards business visa card. After I had gotten the cards I saw the terms were better on BoA's website for the same card. I sent sent an email and then later called. The CSR said I got 0% for 9months and no bt fees.

Just spoke to a CSR about the card. He said he could definitely waive the fee if I applied. This is good to know. Seems like BofA CSRs are always hungry to earn that BT commission.

Looks like you got your answer, but I thought I'd respond anyway.

My offer was targeted, but I've since seen it (a few times) on BoA's web site. Looking back at the T&C wording I copied from the enrollment page, it stated: "Cash Advance Fee: 3% of each advance ($10 min) (including Convenience Checks and Overdraft Protection advances)." Obviously, no mention of BTs.

BTW, I would say that the opposite would be true in many cases re: what you've been told about T&C wording when it comes to promo offers. I've seen many Ts&Cs (both online and in print) that have standard wording, but are superceded by the promo/introductory offer for the CC in question. Regardless, it's always good to check with a CSR to confirm if you are uncertain.

Reasons such as this are why I learned to document and screenshot everything of every step during any application, contract update, etc. I even go as far to record all phone calls (there is a PA law for business exceptions on commercial phone systems) so I can go back and transcript what the CSR's have said, timestamps, etc.

My last AOR I had two problems with two different banks terms. BofA was one of them, and the T&C I got stated the 0% was only good for 9 months, whereas the promo said 12. I simply gave them the screenshot of the application terms and they quickly turned it around.

The other issue was more severe was PNC Bank and the CSR stated there was NO BT fee for the 0% offer. Somehow I didn't have a T&C discussing the terms for the 0% promo so there was no paperwork to back it up, but when the first statement came I was charged $660 (3%, no cap) for the BT. I called and spoke with a first CSR and was immediately shut down, but I gathered my evidence and spoke with a manager and it was quickly resolved in my favor and the $660 charge was reversed. If I did not have such indepth documentation and proof of my claims then I'm sure it would not have gone that way. Lesson to be learned here, always document everything every step of the way, and store them when it comes to your financials.

Boa tried to screw me over also. To the tune of $600. A few phone calls got it straightened out.

Just be careful with this company.

I have this card and did a balance transfer. Here is my experience:

-even though it is a business card, it shows up against my personal lines at the bank
-the business credit card side of BoA does not let you consolidate credit limits (they did let me on their Effectiva card), so I had to close a different BoA business card and apply for a limit increase, which I received, but it wasn't as much as if I combined the two.
-I received a no BT fee, 0% for 6 month offer, which I had transferred directly into BoA checking. No problems there, customer service was pretty squared away although we did have to conference call with the fraud dept because of the size of the BT.
-I applied as part of my app-o-rama and BoA shut down 2 other credit cards I had with MBNA for 15 years. I had to beg them to re-open one. So for any app-o-rama's, you might want to try to transfer credit lines as quickly as possible before they shut them off.

Overall, a pretty good offer. I'm not sure it it is still valid, but check out Effectiva... It had the same offer when I applied and I was able to combine the limit with a huge MBNA card I have had forever. Another ok deal. 6 months, 0%, no fees.

moneyfiend, thanks for the information. a few questions:

even though it is a business card, it shows up against my personal lines at the bank

but does it show on your personal credit reports?

the business credit card side of BoA does not let you consolidate credit limits

if you can't consolidate business lines, did you try to move CL between business and personal cards?

I applied as part of my app-o-rama and BoA shut down 2 other credit cards I had with MBNA for 15 years.

did BofA close personal or business cards?

The fine print included with my BOA biz card did state the "no fee" was for the entire 12 month term of the 0% offer. You can request the BT from their web site (but they are slow to process), and they also sent balance transfer checks at least once a month during the entire promo period of 12 months. One thing to watch out for is how the set up your billing. Initially, they had me on corporate billing. The main account number was different from the credit card issued. All payments apply to the corporate account, not the individual card accounts. I was moving quite a bit of BT money around because they were so generous with the no-fee checks, except with corporate billing any payments will not be applied to your card balance until the end of the month when the individual cards reconcile with the corporate account. As a result, there is no way to charge more than your credit limit in any given month. Because of this I got hit with an NSF even though the account was paid in full. I had them change to "individual billing" to fix this problem. On the positive side, as a result of the billing change a new card was issued with a new 12 month 0% term (extending the original offer another 8 months).

can anyone with a BofA business card confirm it does not appear on your personal credit report?

I have the BofA business credit card and it does not show up on my personal credit report.

The link posted above by lhendricks92 for Bank of America cards is fraudulent. I am totally upset. I was stupid enough to click on the link from this page and since it looked okay and had "bankofamerica.com" as part of the web address, I used it to sign up for a cc offer. Bank of America just sent me an e-mail to confirm that I have most likely had my identity stolen.

coacherskine ... what ya been smoking this evening?

The link is totally legitimate. Besides, if it weren't, how would Bank of America know that you used a spoof site? Do you think that BofA runs their own spoof sites, so that they can phish information out of their customers and non-customers?

-Bill-

After applying for a Bank of America card at https://offers.bankofamerica.com/ConsumerCard/OTS5Offer.aspx the link provided in the post above, I became suspicious of the site and e-mailed BoA the url at abuse@bankofamerica.com. Their customer service e-mailed me back that I most likely had my identity stolen. When you go to the link now, you can no longer access an online application.

I had this lovely PM waiting for me this morning:

"Your links to Bank of America are fraudulent. Shame on you!"

coacherskine said: Their customer service e-mailed me back that I most likely had my identity stolen.

I think it's most likely that you and the CSR do not understand how an internet domain works.

Careful with this...originally linked page no longer includes "No fees for balance transfers" language.

Do not submit a balance transfer with original application. However, you will get checks in the mail with no balance transfer fees!
