That's probably what I'll end up doing. Shouldn't be a problem to move the professional's CL to the citiBusiness MC, correct? I'm OK with closing it and then having one less personal card with a balance.

Beats me, you should let us know what you find out. In general, Citi won't let you transfer business -> personal and personal -> business. The wildcard is what is the Professional treated as?
If you do consolidate the line over to the business side, it will have the advantage of hiding any BTs you do with that balance from your credit report, but the disadvantage of not having the CL there to boost your FICO.
(duplicate post, sorry)
if i'm interpreting the reallocation thread correctly, people have reported no (few?) problems with moving professional CL to another business card. seems the prof card is treated as a business card for reallocation purposes (even though it is reported to your personal CRAs)
and, yes, you make a good point about overall personal utilization. that's the reason why i went for the hooters and penfed cards. also hoping to hit the AMEX crack pipe, but i'll forgo the in:nyc BT. somebody talk me out of it if i mention something to the contrary.
i'm hoping to keep personal util below 30%.
one question...who and what, exactly, tracks business credit? is it a problem if i have 6 or 7 business card at 90%???

That's what I recall too, but here's a recent data point: can move CL Personal-to-Prof but not back; cannot move Prof-to-Bus or Bus-to-Prof. As always, YMMV with a different rep, etc.

How about moving Personal-Business?
went to the beach last week with the fam...wonder what our housesitter thought about the constant stream of credit cards flooding our mailbox. ![]()
so, time for some updates.
AMEX - received approvals for simply cash and starwood business. CL is unknown. cracked in:nyc up to $24k from $3k. again, do n't let me do a BT. tempting...
chase - Marriott biz approved for 15k. called today to reallocate $13k from sony and $14k from Marriott to biz rebate visa, resulting in a $37k line. benefits: 1 chase BT to manage, 1 chase BT fee, no damage to personal report. wrote a check to myself for $33,300. check came with the card.
citi - requested reallocations from prof and citiBiz MC to CitiBiz PremierPass. CSR didn't think it would be a problem, but we all know how these things go. i'm wondering if the problems reported in the citi reallocation thread only (or mostly) apply to personal cards. my goal here is to mimic my chase strategy. we'll see if it works. also, i requested and received a BT check of $6950 for my citi diamond AMEX. still about 5 months left on this offer.
M&T - called for BT to checking, as i was told earlier this should be possible. apparently it's not, according to my 2 most recent conversations with CSRs.
Advanta - called for BT to checking, apparently they're having system issues today, so no dice. (btw, DON'T use the checks that come with the card - they are cash advance, not BT, checks.)
updated the OP. i'll start to put some totals in the quick summary.
USAA received my $22,500 "payment" from BofA. I called to transfer the credit balance to my savings account and was told they have a new policy. I'm not sure what the exact parameters are, but they put a 7 business day hold on the payment. I can call tomorrow to do the transfer.
BofA - Pretty much as expected, BofA Business incorrectly charged a BT fee ($675!!). I'm confident we'll get it straightened out.
citi - It appears my ideal citi reallocation strategy actually worked. I now have $2k on my "old" Professional card, $1K on the new CitiBusiness MC, and $32K on the new CitiBusiness PremierPass. I will request a $28.5K BT check, payable to my company. 11 months from now, I'll payoff the PP, consolidate it into the unused Biz MC, and use my new 12 months of 0% BT. (I'll need to close the PremierPass to avoid the $75 annual fee.) No need to apply for any new Citi biz accounts for about 2 years (other than to try to increase CL).
USAA - Waited for the 7 day hold to clear, and transferred $22.5K credit balance to my savings account today.
Advanta - Requested a check sent to USAA savings. They will actually mail the check. How old school.
Updated OP with BT Plans.
Nice job OP. Thanks for the updates. I'm getting ready for a mini v2 for a few points and modest BT.
Green for you!

Yeah, haven't received much feedback on this. I did get one response in the Adverse Action thread. I'll try to ping the super gurus (e.g., DaveH and SIS) on that one. I hope my strategy of maximizing my BT activity on the business side doesn't backfire.
A few more udpates...
AMEX - Received my SimplyCash card in the mail. CL of $25K, but they lowered my FreedomPass CL from $25K to $500. No big deal. I'll probably move about $15K over to in:nyc. The SimplyCash card might actually find its way into my wallet. 5% Cash Back on gas, wireless phone, and office supplies, 1% on everything else. Automatically credited each month. PLUS it's 0% on purchases for a year. Still waiting on Biz Starwood.
Barclays - They denied my Nat'l Parks app. I expected this, so I called the credit department directly (look in the credit card issuer faq), spoke to human immediately, and I was able to reallocate $23.5K from my useless SeaMiles card to the now magically approved Nat'l Parks. SeaMiles is left with $500. Should get BT checks with the card.
BofA - Finally got a CSR to agree to reverse the bogus BT fee on my biz card. Hasn't shown up online yet.
M&T Bank - Requested a BT on their website. For the address and account number, I used USAA's deposits address and my savings account #. I know they will send a physical check, so we'll see if this works.
Started making initial purchases for the occasional bonus here and there (I really want that $25 ESPN store GC!!
). Added as many accounts as possible to yodlee and my Fidelity billpay card. Need to request changes to statement closing dates. I try to make all cards close at the end of the month for simplicity (and to extend some 0% offers).
Updated QS with before and after totals.
Key lines:
Grand Totals
New credit: $243K
New balances at 0%: $203K
Subject to change a bit, but wow, I'm shocked. Barring major adverse action, this AOR has turned out much better than I expected. After all of this, I'm still only running at 25% util across all personal lines.
Today's updates:
Nat City Biz - $13,500 to Fidelity Visa. this is my billpay card, so it happens to have a substantial balance at the moment. saves me having from having to make a cash payment this month.
Principal - no go on CLI, even after offering to provide financial docs. requested $7500 BT to wife's Citi card with a big BT balance. that card still has 5 months left on no fee 0% BTs, so i'll just request another BT from citi when Principal's check clears. welcome to BT laundering. ![]()
updated BT plans in OT.
i'm thinking of getting a PenFed HELOC to make BT laundering a little easier for the next AOR. for those of you with PenFed experience, can you confirm they will reuse my current inquiry? also, is it truly "no cost?" thanks in advance.
lhendricks92 said:Lot of news today...and it's mostly good.
citi - both business card were approved for $7500 each. seems kinda low, but i'll try for CLIs at activation. given citi's latest reallocation policies, i'm not sure my strategy here. I might consolidate the 6 month old professional into the business premier pass, and then do BTs on both business cards. if i could reallocate at will, i would do something fancier, like move most of the CL to the premier pass and BT. then, in 11 months, reallocate to the business MC and BT. any other ideas?
chase - the personal Marriott was denied - too many new accounts. i'm going to try for a CLI at activation for the Sony Visa to make up for this loss of potential CL. one fewer account is fine by me. ![]()
infibank - approved, 15k
M&T Bank - Business Card approved, 25k, SWEETNESS! and CSR confirmed they can ACH a BT to my checking account as soon as i activate the card.
Merrick Hooters - approved, $18,750. excellent, no BT opp here, just improving util.
National City - personal Visa approved for $10,000. immediately requested a BT to my AMEX Fidelity gold card. i've done this before and the credit balance will automatically sweep into my Fidelity brokerage account when the gold card statement closes.
National City Visa Business - approved, initially for $9k, asked for more, was offered $15k.
PenFed Rewards Visa - approved, initially for $12k, asked for more, was offered $20k.
All and all, I'm quite pleased so far. I've already accumulated over $200K in new credit, and I'm still waiting to hear about 5 apps.
How did these banks notify you?

Wow! That is a great second AoR. Congrats.

Seriously. It looks like the calls for CLI's afterwards really helped. I can only hope for this much on my second in November. I will be watching this thread closely for the lenders' reactions to such high Business BT balances.
