I reallocated (reclaimed?) $17k (full CL) from citi dividend -> mtvU. They said they won't allow reallocation, however they can "consolidate" as I wanted the old dividend card a/c closed.

AA's minimum line is 2K - if you want to keep it open, that is. If you leave it with 2K to begin with, you probably have no issue at all.

TheGMan said:2 days ago I requested $18k transferred from AA (leaving $1k) to AT&T; got the dreaded 24-48 hour notice from first Indian rep.
Called back same night, got India then transferred to "account specialist" not indian - again 24 - 48hr answer.
Called just now & non india read the notes on my account, went away for a few minutes to check with "specialist" again - came back and said request was denied because I'm attempting to transfer to a 0% card. She said my only option is to close the AA in order to reallocate, which I won't do. So...
Looks like I'm screwed, since my account is already notated for any future reps.

Premier Pass Elite also has a 2k minimum.

*sigh* That would be great information for the master reallocation thread too. Assuming it's the 2K glitch & not the 0% factor, the problem will be finding a rep to cooperate, with decline notes already on the account.

got the 0% Universal card last week, called to activate and asked to reallocate from citi diamond and premier pass elite to the Universal leaving $500 at each account, they moved from diamond but not the premier

called couple days later talked to Indian rep and resubmitted the premier request

nothing happened for couple days so i called again and the American lady said premier requires $2000 minimum line, so i moved a figure that's not a whole number, like $3999.xx, she said it would go through in couple hours

nothing happened after couple days, so i called today, got an Indian rep, he said it was denied because you have to move a whole number amount!! i got fed up so i just asked to close the premier and consolidate, and it happens like that, no waiting, new credit line shows up right away online

I reallocated to Universal card week of 05/07 and no issues.

World MC cards have 2000 minimum if you keep them open. If you decide to close it via consolidation, the full credit line can be consolidated.

FWIW, it is actually much better than Visa Signature, which is 5000 minimum line to maintain account.

Why in the world someone decides to move something that is .xx is beyond me.

i had a balance, that was the amount to reallocate in order to keep exactly $2000 minimum on the transfer from account, i didn't know they had that strange rule

AH! I called Citi a couple days ago and asked them to reconsolidated some of my credit lines post AOR. I wanted to pull 7000 from the 8000 on my AAdvantage card and 4500 from my platinum card and put it towards my Drivers (6800) edge card for a total of 18300 or something. They told me no problem.. that it would be complete in a couple days. No change yet, called them earlier tonight. They said wait. Both AMEX and Chase relocation happened instantly. Looks like i've been lied to. 2k min on AA card eh? I guess i'll call them tomorrow and switch some stuff up. Any suggestions?

I was able to move 10k from a Dividend MC and 13k from a Dividend Visa both to a Diamond 0% for life MC.

The CSR was even able to tell me how much minimum I had to keep on each card. $500 min limit on both cards.

I ended up with a 29k 0% for life card. This card funded my house extension.

Hope you have a HELOC to flip this debt to if needed!

Move a round number, say, 3700 or 3800, even 3900, would work and you just have 2100 on the other card - what is the difference between 2000 and 2100 in the whole picture?

Sometimes you really have to use common sense - the computer system is not designed to handle this type of transaction down to the penny... because the chance of happening is almost nil, until, of course, someone decided to ask for such!

UGH, this is a very disturbing data point:

My coworker was approved for a Diamond Preferred Awards MC thru Citi and she was trying to reallocate her credit line to her Citi Driver's Edge, the CSR put er on hold to talk with sup...and they have made a new policy as of 5/1 that you cannot reallocate on new cards with 0% offers. The Diamond Preferred Awards MC has a 3% BT fee and $250 cap!!!

Anyone else finding similar experiences???

Correct, the cash/point rebate cards have $500 minimum. The reason I know was one time I applied a Diamond card (back when they offered 10K TY pts), that was the No.4 or 5 cards opened in a 3 month period. The CSR called to ask me to re-allocate some line from the existing Dividend card which had 20+K. I said no, she said then I could only give you $500 credit line. I said fine as all I wanted was the 10K bonus. Rec'd 40K total TY pts in 4 months by going thru various TY Network linked cards. Hindsight, I should have said yes, so the cancelled DIA would not show on my report as having $500 limit.

Sounds true as there are sporadic reports thruout FW about this new development - you can definitely thank the AORers for that.

Try to consolidate the old card to the new one - that is to close the old card via consolidation method - see if that would still work.

Also how long a history you have with Citi probably also plays a role.

Premier Pass is a point card, the limit for it is NOT $500.

And people reallocate to 0% BT even when they do not do AOR, it's just common sense.

PP & PPE already discussed on this thread - these and the AA are the 2K minimum we have known so far. And I think they are World MC as well.

The cash rebate/point rebate cards I refer to, are those that are not in the "world" class, and not travel-related type - thought it was obvious... sorry for not pointing that out.

Unless you need to carry a balance, or using the BT to pay other cards, otherwise 0% does not mean much. I got the 0% offer everytime I close an account with Citi, turned them down each time. Dont carry a balance, no need to use BT to pay off other cards, too impatient to wait for a year (and the monthly maintenance come with it) to gain some extra money, .... all these add together makes 0% useless to me, even it is common sense you would want o% on your card... but if that is a feature never comes into play then why bother?

On the other hand, the AORers definitely kill the 0% no fee offerings, for those who actually need it, not for extra income, but need it to help paying down higher rate loans or whatever.

Why would you say this? In case they somehow kill the offer on me?

I do have a HELOC to cover it. But I actually have the cash in hand to cover this. I said to myself... why should I deplete my emergency fund to pay for this when I can get some nice interest-free money from Citibank.

Interesting that you think a couple dozen or a couple hundred people "definitely" have shifted the policies of a 270 billion dollar company that is wildly profitable.

I think you give me too much credit. It is flattering none the less.

By the way, I'm also the reason why food costs so much. You see I buy a lot of food on sale and drive down the margins at the grocery store.

I'm probably responsible for global warming too. Ooops.

One other thing, if I buy a plasma TV and new car I can't afford and run up CC debt then I "need" no fee BTs? But if I'm a hard working person just trying to save a little extra for retirement and donate the rest to charity then I'm not deserving of the BTs?

It is opinions like yours that make me glad we are a free market society rather than a command economy where people like you can dictate what people "need".

On the phone now... Whoops, not any more! I just consolidated my PremierPass card onto my UPromise card. I wasn't interested in reallocating since the PP card won't show the CL on the reports. Less than 30 seconds once I got connected with an "Account Specialist".
