In the spirit of this being a summary thread, I suggest that people contribute concise experience of how they got the BT money from with bank. For example. AMEX: BT check written to friend. or Juniper: 0% BT check And if we could get this posted by OP or in the Quick Summary section, that would be even better. |

I'm suprised at how many BT checks you got in the welcome package. Out of the 15 cards I was approved for, I only received checks for 1 card (Barclays National Parks). It seems to me that the CC companies are being more stringent about those BT checks. For example, for my Advanta Business, I asked for BT checks, but they only sent ones that are at the cash advance rate. Also, I have many of the same CC that you have but did not receive any checks in the welcome package. Mike, when did you apply for those CC? Could you also tell me if for the Advanta business card, did you call them and have them directly deposit it into your checking account with the routing and acct #? TIA |

On the BOA Platinum MC with successful ACH. Was the checking account BOA or external, and do you know if that had any bearing? |

With BoA MC via ACH to checking, the $ was sent to my Fifth Third checking account. (I'm not sure what you mean by "do you know if that had any bearing?" MgBuz: Are you talking about getting money from Chase? If so, then yes (and my OP reflects this), Chase did not send $ directly to my checking account. I used the single included BT check and deposited it. You can also call chase and request more BT checks mailed to you (call from your home phone). |

Does anyone have any experience of getting BT money from FNBO (first national bank of omaha)? I got a decent sized CL from them and would like to take advantage of it, but there is no convenience check and the online BT option seems only to go to other CCs. Has anyone successfully BT directly to checking? I just called and they declined my request to BT into checking and the CSR told me "we are not sending out convenience checks anymore. But, they might be sent out with monthly statements." TIA |

I called them for my sony card and they would not send me a check. For some reason or another I am having a really hard time getting check or consolidating credit lines. |

Glad to hear that you were able to get a check from Chase. I called them for my sony card and they would not send me a check. If you called for a cell or other, often the check option will not show up in thier computer. You should be able to get blank checks from chase (they even offer free expedited shipping). Also, try calling FNBO from home and asking for a BT check payable in your name be mailed from them. If this doesn't work, just send the $ to another card you have that alrady has a balance, no BT fees, and you already have checks for or allows quick direct deposit. I would not wait with FNBO, they are nororious for closing accounts soon after opening when they pull your credit report again, so get that BT before they close your account (they can't make you pay it back prematurely even if your account is closed). |

Thanks for that info. The only thing is that I only have a cell phone, no landline, which I used to sign up for the cards. I got shot down by FNBO again. They said that they are not sending out checks at this time, but they might be sent out with the statement. I don't know...seems that they are giving me the run around. As for Chase Sony card, I called and somehow this time I got an automated option for requesting convenience checks. This was under the BT menu. I hope this will help others out. MikeR, should we just put your great list into the summary section? |

"Used a BT check I got in the welcome package" Sometimes the "welcome package" comes after the card with a lot more pamphlets/info. I know it's picky, but I think it deserves a mention/update in the OP. The reason why is that if we applied for a similar card and it did not come with BT check, then we know to call in to make a specific request. |

Sometimes the "welcome package" comes after the card with a lot more pamphlets/info. I know it's picky, but I think it deserves a mention/update in the OP. The reason why is that if we applied for a similar card and it did not come with BT check, then we know to call in to make a specific request.Sure, I will go though my notes and add some more precision to my fist post. Just found out that Citibank credit cards have an ONLINE option to request for a credit balance refund. As others have suggested in another thread, it is possible to BT from a CC that requires transfer to another credit card to BT to a Citibank credit card. Has anyone tried this? I'm wondering how long it takes to get the credit refund and also what is the largest refund they would issue without raising flags? Thanks! |

I requested a refund of a $24K overpayment on my wife's Citi Professional card with a $4K line on 7/7. This was the response: "We are currently conducting a review of your account and will contact you with the results of our investigation as soon as it is completed. We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this matter for you. You should receive a response on your refund within 30 days." I was not happy about such a large overpayment on a $4K line, but was forced to push it when my Discover 0% for life 'transfer by' date was expiring shortly after I paid off and consolidated another Discover line. I had no other place to send the BT to and this was the only available Citi card. It probably didn't help matters that Discover sent separate payments of $15970 and $8030. I was hoping the fact that we actually use this card regularly (for restaurants) would make it less of a problem. I've got my fingers crossed and will report back the result. |

On June 28th I transferred $13500 from AMEX to my USAA card. The next day called USAA and asked for the money to be transferred to checking. The CSR asked if I had received a balance transfer, I said yes. She instantly transferred the money to checking. Some have said on the USAA topic that they won't do this or impose a seven day hold. But, it obviously worked for me. Gotta love USAA cards -- worth their weight in gold, even without a 0% offer. |

Thanks!Thanks for this Citi suggestion, but as can be see from r0man, there are often very lengthy delays with Citi sending you a check for a credit refund from the online option (I have seen 4-6 weeks plus 7-10 days for mailing). Therefore, I'm not going to add this to the list in the OP. (Thanks for the suggestion though). Also, I find it is typically best to request a credit refund over the phone so you can answer any questions the reps might have for you and get the process started immediately. I'm in the midst of another AoR for my father, and am using his HE line of credit to BT into. Pending upcoming results, if you have a HE with a 16 digit card to BT to, this is likely the very best action as you will incur much less investigations and delays and you can have A LOT of money BT'd to it (and request high limits simultaneously), since you don't have small credit lines to worry about and sending a comparative boatload of cash to them that will trigger a fraud investigation. |

Is it possible to combine the credit refund strategy with the BT check strategy. That is, can you send all your BTs to a new Citi card that has 0% checks attached to it and then cash a BT check for more than the credit line of the account thereby using up the credit refund. Example: You have a citi card with 10k and then BT 50k from discover to it. You now have a 50k credit on a 10k credit line. Then you write a BT xfer check for 55k on it. thanks |
