Updated to add new approval, credit scores, inquiry record, separateout business and personl apps in stats, add Old Navy Card App I forgot about and other clerical items. I hope this information is helpful. I'll continue to update as we get more results. I also have a story to add when I get time. |

it's 0% on purchases only, from what i can tell. Well It's kind of an experiment. They don't have a fee for balance transfers and I was told that many times they count them as purchases, although I am skeptical. If not it doesn't hurt to have the business lines and build them up. We'll see. . . |

Did you ask for a BT at the time you applied for the In:Chicago AMEX? If not how are you planning on doing a subsequent BT? According to the terms it seems that they could assess a fee... Terms Conditions and Disclosures "Balance transfer fee: There is no balance transfer transaction fee associated with this offer. However, future balance transfers may incur a fee as disclosed at the time of the applicable offer or transaction. This fee, if assessed, is a Finance Charge. Fee for Cash Advances: 3% of each transaction with $5.00 minimum and no maximum."

I am pretty sure I didn't on this one because I would have wanted to reallocate some existing AMEX lines first. We'll see what happens but I assumed that the terms meant that within some initial timeframe you could transfer a balance with no fee but after the initial offer period you would pay a fee on future transfers. I have seen this before where the car comes with a check you can use. I will definitly post an answer when I find out! Thisguy |

Updated again to add 3 new approvals on 7/5/07. Juniper USAir ($20K) & Nat Park ($5K) + Citi Business (unknown). I will probably want to move the bulk of the credit line from the USAir card to the Nat Park card for a longer BT before doing the transfer but the online system said we have to receive and activate the card first anyway. I think there might have been miles with the USAir card that come from transferring a certain balance so I'll have to look into that first. Hopefully the approvals will keep coming in and I'll keep posting them!! Thisguy |

Thisguy Just be careful... I found the following info in another thread (http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.php?catid=52&threadid=735395&lastpage=1) ... I have both the In Chicago/NYC. First i just applied for them (got CL's of 3.2 and 2.6k), then did CLI on crack online and got a 10.2 and 24.9 CLS. Then I wrote a 9k and a 23k BT check to my girlfriend (careful you write this to someone you trust) and had her deposit it, then write me a check for me to deposit in my own checking. This seemed the easiest/best option for me to get the money as you cannot write the checks to yourself except at a cash advance rate (and not direct deposit to checking). I would strongly recommend to not specify the the BT's at application and do the CLI online first so you can get a much larger CL. You can request the checks (just call in to get them mailed to you) and they are still 0%, no fee for 6 months as long as you do not write it to yourself. |

Updated to add additional inquiries and daily credit score. One other fallout from this AOR is that in my haste to get through all of my wife's apps before work I accidentally entered my SSN on one of the AMEX apps. They seemed alright with it and corrected the info over the phone easily enough. They supposedly also requested that the inquiry be removed from my credit report with the credit bureau but it has still not come off. Not sure what to do about it but I sure would have preferred not to have that inquiry on my credit report with my AOR just around the corner. Thisguy |

Updated again today as first round of cards showed up in the mail. The biggest surprise was the AMEX SPG Business card which was instantly approved at $10K limit. It showed up claiming a limit of $50,700!! I only wish this had happened on one that I could do a BT on but perhaps I can shift some of it to the inChicago card if it gets approved. Still nice to see the high limits!! Also, I got a letter from CapitalOne saying that my application had been denied because of an application already in progress so perhaps there is an issue with applying for 2 business cards at once with Cap1. I'm not sure which one was denied though. |

You can definately shift available credit with AMEX - I just received an In:LA card and shifted available credit onto it no problem. You can also initiate 0% BT's online with AMEX - very easy. Great job on the App-o-rama by the way. |

Great job on the App-o-rama by the way. What is the largest BT you think you can safely do with AMEX without incurring the dreaded financial review? I had a line up to $100K ready to do a BT last year but then I got scared and only did $24K to be careful. Thanks, Thisguy |

See KiasuChick's recent post-AOR FR. (She submitted docs and came out fine.) |

Updated to add more totals and new approvals. They just keep coming in and the credit limits are great. I can't believe how much we're adding here. Together with my apps in part 2 (upcoming) we should easily make $1M in total available credit. Thanks again for all of your help. I will continue to update and add BT info as I complete the transactions. Cheers! Thisguy |
