Not as good as the State Bank of Toledo deal because of the 25k cap, but it's a larger credit union and local for many Bay Area residents (who might also already have accounts there)
If you're not in the Bay Area, you can also qualify by joining Sierra Club for $25

I guess not much interest because of the $25,000 cap...but i opened with them (got in by joining the Sierra Club) and seems like a very nice CU...aside from the 6% rate you also get unlimited atm rebates....very nice set-up over there...

I just noticed this at SD. (I guess they're a little slow... took 'em 9 days to put it up up). Seems like a really good deal, but I never use my check card because of the rewards i get on my credit card. What do you guys use a check card for?

I think most of us here mostly use our credit cards...but to meet the 10 debit card transaction requirements, most just make very small purchases with the debit card (you know, like an item or two at the grocery) or one of the various "devious" (lol) methods you will find in the BOA "Keep The Change Thread" of different easy ways to meet the 10 monthly requirement....

Finally a good checking account for the Bay Area residents. Too bad they don't offer ACH trannsfers. I'm still in though. Thanks xpguy.
