dynamic rewards are same with both types of cards...signature has certain perks (read about them on the Visa website) and although you have an actual credit line, you can spend beyond it (no preset spending limit)...apparently, that is why the credit line is not reported to the bureaus....But, i should think by now that most persons reviewing your credit report realize that it must be a signature card when it says: N/A in the credit line box....

I have 2 signature cards, 1 of which i have had over two years, and never have any problem getting credit, and still wonder why people "freak out" about signature cards not reporting the credit line

Can anybody please confirm if chase reports/does not report CL on the Freedom Signature Card? I believe it is issuer specific. US Bank used to report the limit on my NWA signature card.

FYI I just got my Freedom card--lousy limit--but they upgraded my account to dynamic rewards with no hassle. Sent an online message, two hours later, got this back:

Thank you for your request to change your Chase Freedom
Rewards program to the Chase Freedom Dynamics Cash
Rewards.

We have processed your request. Please understand that
your rewards will convert with your next statement.

You may wish to contact us at the number below to discuss
this further. We are available to assist you 24 hours a
day, seven days a week.

Thank you,

Chad E Roberts

Account is owned by Chase Bank USA, N.A. and may be
serviced by its affiliates.

Not signature, but I don't really care about that. Unlimited--in name only--CL doesn't really appeal to me that much. I just wanted the dynamic rewards, and I got them. No need to have any CL as a minimum, and I haven't spent a cent on the card yet.

Please add this to the list under Pet Stores & Vet Offices:

Animal Care Center in West Bountiful, UT qualifies. Sorry it is local and not useful to many people.

I am certain I am not the first person to come up with this brilliant idea, but I did not see anything seraching for prepay, so I thought I'd post it.

Any reason not to prepay bills like cable and phone that are earning 3% rewards? Has anybody tried to pay $1000 to earn $30.00 and have the utility or whatever refund the credit balance? I just prepaid my phone bill (its only at the 1% rate because I am on the Freedom card), and while it took about 5 times of clicking I was sure I wanted to pay an amount different from my bill, it eventually let me do it. I only rounded the bill to $100, but can't see why it wouldn't work for any amount that was much larger, after all, Chase has no idea what our utility bills are.

Heck, if the phone company won't give me a hassle to get a credit back, I could envision charging $40,000. It'll be my way of recovering the 3% balance transfer fee, cept my recovery won't have a cap.

David...it wouldn't work, because any time you have a credit purchase reversed (even partially), Chase would deduct the rewards points you earned on it....even it is on some future date....All these credit card rewards programs work that way, whether Chase, Citi, AMEX, whoever...

But, I suppose, they would not be too likely to do that.

got ya...lol I agree..i think they would be wondering why you overpaid by so much....not really something you would want to "fool around" with....anyway, over payments, by most companies usually are done in the same manner as the original payment...thus credit card payment would likely result in a credit card "credit" back, thus making you lose those points, anyway....

I think prepaying would be useful if you have 4 "everday" categories of spending, but only three slots per card to spend it with. For instance, you could alternate paying your phone bill double big one month, and your cable bill double big the next month.

The following are what I found on my Dynamic rewards for the 3% catagories.

Telecommunications-Verizon
Utilities- Peco Energy
Cable/Internet/Satellite- Comcast

Papa Johns qualifies as a quick serve restaurant.

Of course, you'd have to calculate what the real gain (if any) would be considering that the money could have been sitting in your bank account earning 5% or more instead of being a liability in your utility's books.

hey guys, how do you tell what category each purchase qualifies for??

That is kind of the point to this thread. It depends on the coding that the merchant supplies to the CC issuer. While you can track your posted purchases online, a lot of the charges simply show up as (OTHER), and won't help you to categorize them. The only sure-fire way to find out is to make a purchase and wait until your statement arrives to see if you got the bonus, or check this thread.
