Other than targeted, the only one I know of is the Discover More card with CODE: "PLDA". You must call in to give this code and apply over the phone. I was approved for a 0% for life offer. However the catch is after 12 months you have to make two minimum purchases each month to keep the 0% BT, and of course you can't pay off the purchases until the entire BT is paid back, so each month you get a buck in finance charges even if you only make $1 purchases.

That's two minimum purchases right? Any minimum amount, or can I charge $0.01 twice per month?

EDIT: Another offer: Citi 0% for life Yes, I meant purchases (not payments). I corrected this in my original post and removed the Citi link as it is expired .

Be careful with Discover BT for life... they have changed the rules, and minimum payments have gone way up.... search FWF for "discover" and "minimum payment"

Very good and important point, be careful not to use it too early to take a balance from a card where the minimum is 2% of the balance, and be unpleasantly surprised to have a minimum payment of 4% of the balance. Best to use it to BT from a Citicard - pay off whatever portion of the balance you want to pay and then get another BT check from Citi for that amount. That way will always have cash available to make the payments.
Plus, Discover is not known for generous credit lines.

Just applied for this card with this code, it worked, I got $8000 limit... trying to BT some private student loans. Don't have my exact credit score but its flawless for a single male in his 20s w/ a professional job and a $35 K limit on another card.
Any idea how good of an initial credit limit this is? I have no idea but I generally hear that Discover is more conservative than other creditors.

people are not here to stroke your ego. in fact, they'll probably do the opposite. why do you want to know how good of an initial credit line this is? you already think your credit score is flawless. so?

i could go for 1.9% for life with fee and 1% min payment+int or 2.9%
Any ideas?
The only other one I know out there is the Advanta Life-Of-Balance Card.
I DID have another question about discover BT offers: is the increase to a 4% minimum payment for ALL BT offers, or only the 0% offers?
If it's only on the 0% offers, then using code FFBC here will get you 3.9% until June 2011.

What's your minimum monthly payment on that card? Discover recently raised the minimum monthly payments to 4%.
At 4% vs the pervious 2% the deal has roughly twice shorter lifetime.

discover sent me the notice i have no for life offers. it applies to any BT offer from now on. basically shooting all their offers into the toilet.
Crap1 is 3% on their cards too.
I think RBS and National city are higher 2.5%
the rest uses 1%+interest
Wierd huh.

Sorry, I'm new here, but I'm not exactly clear on which is the best way to get a low interest rate on balance transfers for a long period of time. Like jackstone, I'm a single male in my 20s with a professional job, and I also have some high interest rate student loans that I'd like to BT to lower rates for life (or at least for a good number of years). Can someone lay out what might be the best option or list some pros and cons?
I don't exactly understand the "two minimum purchases" catch on the Discover card - you can make two purchases per month of, say, 25 cents, and you'll have to pay a $1 finance charge each month because you can't pay them off until you pay off the entire balance? That doesn't sound like such a bad deal to me. Also, once you pay off the entire balance, can you make another 0% transfer, or would you have to apply for a new card?
