Also, I didn't catch it in time, but if your due date on the AMX IN card was in early february, you probably could have shifted the statement cycle to late February, and still gotten 0% on everything.
And I wouldn't worry about the increase in utilization on your business card. It doesn't report, after all.
Oh, and I looked a the totals of your AOR again. Good job. We both reported about the same HHI, but you had fewer preexisting existing cards than I did. But you still got almost the same amount of 0% money squeezed out of the banks, which can be hard without a large "bed" of starting credit. Nice.Yes. No other adverse action - yet. A heartfelt thanks to you, markkundinger; for both the compliment and the initial inspiration. Many thanks to all contributors to this forum as well. I am feeling a bit jaded lately (ok a lot). Chasing between 3-3.5% for the next few months doesn't have the appeal 5-9.36% had. While most of the payments are easily managed and 2.25% after tax return is better than 0%, I feel it's time for this rookie to retire for a while. I'm calling the game due to inclement weather - too many clouds. Apart from a few miscellaneous credit score updates and soft CLI requests, this A0R ends immediately following a SECU CD withdrawal on May 1, 2008. Thanks again. Adieu. jack |

You've already made all the apps. You've already tanked your credit score. You've already gone through the travails of the reallocations and transfers. You've already paid the bank charges. You're never getting any of this time or money back. The only thing that's left is making payments. That's the easy part, as you mentioned. So, you can pay off everything after the CD matures in May, or you can keep making the easy payments for another 2-3 months, and then make the payoffs. Let the AOR reach its natural denouement. I think the only acceptable excuse for curtailing the AOR is if you need to boost your credit score fairly quickly. Otherwise, you're a disgrace to FWF and everything it stands for. |

Green for the content of your message. You have me pegged, mark. Although my jaded comment is entirely true, I admit I am entertaining the idea of refinancing my home (30 yr 5.25% to 10-15 yr 4.5%)....(need scores higher). Perhaps I'll sleep on it for the next 45 days.... |

The other thing for not quiting in just one day is that it is logistically simpler to pay the cards off (completely) over some longer period of time, e.g., you won't have to have $100K+ in the account you make payments from that is only FDIC insured up to $100K, you won't get Chase with "we're not accepting a single payment over $25K and multiple payments should have at least 3 business days between any two of them", etc. |

I paid all of my personal cards off. While many have reported a zero balance at TU, EQ and EX, I am still waiting to see $18k BOA balance report zero. Scores thus far are posted here with a few notes regarding recent bumpable soft and hard CLI requests. DAMN ! I was late on my CitiBusiness account last month. DAMN II ! In a similar screw-up, I bounced a check to CHASE. Apparently my bill payment from Everbank did not make it before the due date. When this happens, CHASE implemented the "make-the-minumum-payment-if-not-yet-received" directive still on file from when I opened the account in July. The account I told them to draw from had been dormant since November 2007 with only $1.39. |

I've never used points for anything other than cash. I would like to fly this coming February and found these two links for Northwest and Delta. Are there any other sources I can reference to help me figure out the lingo? Admittedly the jargon is a intimidating for me.... |

When you say you were late on your citibusiness, you mean you missed the due date without any sort of payment (late charge, etc) or that you merely didn't pay off the entire balance when you wanted too? And I just (nearly) bounced a large check too. In my case, I was fortunate because a branch manager went ahead and transferred money from savings to clear it. Your Discover CLI request seems different than mine. I just called, asked about the process, they did a soft review, and told me what they could increase me (I don't recall asking for a number). I would be wary with diving into flyertalk, they're a scary bunch. But the basics with airline miles are easy, it's around 25k miles to book a domestic round trip coach flight if you can match the very stringent avaialbility rules. It's around 50k to get an "anytime" ticket. First class seats, or hawaii/intercon seats, all cost more. The details are just, well, details. |

Per hyperlink....Oops. I missed a payment to Citi due to the Memorial weekend holiday (ok - I'm lying to myself - it was due to not following conservative FWF advice). The due date was 5/27/2008.
Statement said:Your late fee was based on your account balance as of the payment due date (05/27/08), which was $ 26,429.00
The Annual Percentage Rate on your promotional or transferred balances has been increased due to one of the following reasons stated in your card agreement with us: you failed to make a payment to us when due, you exceeded your credit line or you made a payment to us that was not honored by your bank.05/28 ELECTRONIC PAYMENT-THANK YOU -446.00
06/02 06/02 PURCHASES*FINANCE CHARGE*PERIODIC RATE Offer 4 223.01
06/02 06/02 LATE FEE - MAY PAYMENT PAST DUE 39.00
I wrote C/S asking for goodwill and they obliged.
06/04/08 04:57:33 I said:A payment posted one day following the due date. However, I am asking for a one time fee waiver considering my very good payment pattern. Additionally, I would like the Finance Charges to be credited and reinstate the 0% offer through the remainder of the promotion period.06/04/08 05:42:23 They said:As a goodwill gesture, we have credited your account $39.00 for the late fee assessed. This credit should appear on your account within two business days. We must receive your payments by the due date in order to avoid late fees in the future.
We would like to inform you that your account was restored to the standard APR on all of the active balances, including:
-Balance Transfer Rates
-Rate Sale Offers
-Intro Rates
-APR Buy-Downs
The changes will reflect in your next billing statement.
Finance charges for purchases, balance transfers and cash advances will begin to accrue from the date the transaction is added to your balance. They will continue to accrue until payment in full is credited to your account.
This means that when you make your final payment on these balances, you will pay interest for the time between the date your last statement prints and the date your payment is credited to your account.
We calculate your finance charges in the following manner:
The daily balance for purchases and cash advances is multiplied by the daily periodic rate each day of the billing period, including the statement closing date. The daily balance includes the beginning balance for purchases and cash advances, plus new transactions and finance charges from the previous day, minus any new payments or credits. The balance subject to finance charges equals the total of all daily balances for the billing period, divided by the number of days in the billing period. The finance charge for purchases and cash advances is the balance subject to finance charges, multiplied by the number of days in the billing period and then by the daily periodic rate.06/04/08 09:30:51 PM I said:Thank you very much for your goodwill. To be certain, the $223.01 finance charge also will be credited? (you stated that the "Intro Rates" have been restored).06/05/08 01:14:09 AM They said:A credit of $223.01 will appear on your next statement.06/02/08 06/02 REFUND LATE FEE XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-7516 $39.00
06/02/08 06/02 CREDIT FINANCE CHARGES XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-7516 $223.01

All personal lines have reported as paid in full Bureau TU EX EQ
PreAOR FAKOs = 769 763 768 (07/19/2007)
PostAOR FAKOs = 788 750 792 (08/16/2008)
CHANGE = 019 -013 024
PostAOR Inqueries 1 12 1 (as mentioned I CLI'd hard where bureau was bumpable) (also note TU still has not reported a 20k line on RBS card - currently 6500) Not a miraculous increase in scores but that may change when the EX inquiries age one year along with the tradelines related to the inquiries. |
