No for every single account that I have (and I tried about 20 institutions). Not even the reported positives: BofA/ING. This makes me think - do people who reported success have the accounts registered as their payment accounts? At the moment I don't have any payment account registered, which could possibly be the reason why it's not taking anything I throw at it. Btw - this is a CitiBiz card that I'm trying to milk. EDIT: I just tried a "mock BT" with my CitiDiv card - and it would allow me to send money to Etrade (which I have registered as a payment account) but it wouldn't send to GMAC (which I have also registered). I have not actually gone through w/ the BT. Personal conclusion - not only does the bank need to be on a "citi-approved" list, it probably also needs to be a bank that has been set up as one of your payment accounts. |

Tried about 8 different banks on the online balance transfer form. Tried money market, checking, credit union... Even ones that were registered for payment. All were rejected. Called CitiBank to see if they could do the ACH to checking over the phone. They said that the only BT they can do is to a credit card or they can mail you a check. Unhappily opted for the check. |

Back when this thread first appeared, I tried unsuccessfully with multiple checking accounts, some which were registered as payments accounts on my AT&T Universal card, some which were not. Just for fun, tried again in early Nov and had no problem doing direct deposit into a Fidelity account (a registered payment account). Repeated it again in Dec & funds were deposited within 3 business days. So, if you tried and failed a while ago, you might try again. Perhaps it's important how long the Citi account has been open or the payment account itself has been registered. Or perhaps it's completely random. It is Citi after all. |

I do not have this option on any of my three new Citi Biz cards. |

That is true, the only account I pay citi from is citizens account being doing that for over a year. Maybe the payment account really is important. I also have this option on my business account. |

another data point: i have two WAMU checking accounts (for the yearly nsf/OD wavier). same kind of account but obviously different account numbers. one worked and the other didn't. the one that didn't had a message saying that account isn't set up for direct deposit. both accounts are registered for payments. |

Question for those of you who were able to BT directly to a bank account: Were you successful doing this on a new Citi card account? Or was it a Citi card that you already had for a while? |

I did a BT about two weeks ago that was deposited directly into my Commerce checking account a day or two later. It was a Citi Professional card I've had since April. |

You may want to have a setup involving BTing to a PenFed or a DCU card, which can be automatically (and no-fee)transferred into the associated checking/savings accounts, and you already know what to do from there. |

Are you implying that those cards: (1) allow negative balances, or (2) can be used to BT to a debit card associated with a checking account? |

Are you implying that those cards: (1) allow negative balances, or (2) can be used to BT to a debit card associated with a checking account? Yes and yes. Also, DCU recently started the electronic deposit service, through scanned checks. Too bad DCU is not on Billpay payee list. |

thecpa said:They have an option of doing a one day transfer to an external account. DOESN'T WORK unless you've made a transfer exceeding $1000 from the external acct into Citibank exceeding a 20 day grace period. Extracting the above tidbit from thecpa's post to formulate the theory below, could the theory explain everyone's reported experiences in this thread? Citi ACH BT Theory: In order for the Citi credit card BT to external ACH account to work, the receiving account must: 1. be registered as a payment account, AND 2. prior to 20 days from BT request, have been used to make a $1000+ online card payment |

You're looking at the right page ... but apparently you could benefit from reading this thread a bit more -- different people get different options presented to them, e.g., I don't have "Receive a check", but I do have "Put money in your bank account" in addition to "Pay up to 4 creditors". |

I have the same issue as donus629. I do want to find out the variables that decide whether I get the ACH option or not though. Do you need to charge to the cards regularly to get this option? Do you need to have a Citi checking account linked to the card? What about a non-Citi checking account? Obviously, ACH is much more convenient than physical check. I find it very curious that you don't have the regular "receive a check" option. Any ideas why? |

Do people with the BT directly to bank account/ACH option use their Citi credit cards regularly? |
