I looked didn't see a post on this

You probably don't see posts about this because people are focusing on how to BT when you don't have a Citi card that can transfer directly to checking.

Green for you....something new...could folks post how long it takes with this option....

where? i don't see it

oh i see it now. definitely new. is this option available on all cards? what about business cards?

This option has been around for every Citi card I have had for at least the last two years. It has been mentioned in a couple of tangential threads, but didn't have it's own. Until today.

I think this is new. When I did a BT in January, I asked if I could it have it put directly into my account and the rep said checks were the only option.

I'm not doubting that you weren't able to do it since I've never done it but reps don't know anything about the online world. That is a whole 'nother ball game.

It is def. new for me...have done many citi bt's in the past and just went online to request a bt and see it for the first time for one of my personal accounts....To be clear, what I see is that you can request money in your own name by 1) having a check sent (old) or 2) directly depositing into your bank account (requests account number and routing)....OP could have added a few more details in his post...

Are people getting no-fee or even a capped fee BTs from Citi lately ?

some of their business cards have no fee BT's, dunno about any personal cards

I haven't had that option in two years that I had numerous Citi cards... Did my last balance transfer 3 months ago.

In 2005 I did a BT to my checking account but I bank with Citi too so not sure if that makes a difference and my Citi credit cards are linked to my Citi checking account for fee waivers too as the card I did a BT from was PPE. I always do my BT over the phone or just deposit a check in to my checking account. So I think the only new thing is maybe Citi is allowing you to deposit in to any checking account any bank online which they might not have allowed before.

OK, made me look. I don't see any changes to my BT page. Could someone be so kind as to point to where this option is?

To the best of my knowledge this has never been available from Citi previously. Perhaps bterwilliger has a special 'in'.

Yes, there are boatloads of 0% no fee BTs from Citi. The rumors of their demise has been greatly exaggerated.

ahh...it is linked right with the option to rec. a check mailed to you......go through the process of requesting a BT online and it will become clear (have to click accept through several screens)....edit, the option is on my CitiBiz cards as well...

OK this time I went and looked at a card that doesn't have a 0% no fee BT and there it was. Most definitely new, but I wonder why it's there for one account and not the other. Thx MB.

So odd, I've had the ACH option on all BT offers thru various Citi cards since at least '05. I only assumed it was common knowledge and practice.

It might be cheaper for them than the check option. Moreover, it's faster and makes me happyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

I'm glad I read your post because all I knew was that fee for BT on my Premier Pass Elite card had been hiked up to $200. I checked my account again and there it was - a BT offer for 12 months and no fee!
Transfer to bank account didn't work though. I kept getting an error so I opted to receive a check by mail instead.

What about credit balances? Can they be transfered via ACH?

as far as i know, it has never worked. it's always been an option online, but that option has never worked.

can anyone here confirm BT'ing to a bank account? not the dumb button online, but actually going through all the way with it

I don't get it. Are we talking about something different here? I read on the various BT threads, that the easiest BT's are with Citi cards directly to the checking account. So, I went ahead and did such BT's on three of my cards that had no fees, that's over 6 months ago. I could see the option on all my Citi cards (business and personal - 6 total), when clicking to see available offers, but the rest had a fee (the 3 that did not were new ones).
So, are we talking about something else?

Edit. And of course I am not talking about receiving a check. Clicked deposit to my account, the money got transfered...

The thread is about being able to electronically transfer the funds vs depositing a check which you have to wait for to arrive and then clear.

Didn't work on mine. I had to get the check.
Its gave me an error and said try again later.

Straight from the BT page for one of my citi cards:

Don't pay for a high Purchase APR or an even higher Cash Advance APR...
Select this offer to enjoy a low rate and get a check that can be deposited into your bank account—then use it any way you want!

Please remember, this 0.00% APR is for Balance Transfers only, and does not apply to Purchases or Cash Advances made using your card. We may increase this 0.00% APR if you default under any Card Agreement that you have with us. Payments are allocated to pay off lower APR balances before higher balances. You may transfer any amount, including any balance transfer fees that may apply, as long as the total amount does not exceed your available credit line.

0% until Feb '08 with an uncapped 3% fee (unfortunately)

just checked all my citi cards.

the bitibusiness card seems to be the best because there are no balance transfer fees and the duration is 12 months from the date the first trasnfer is posted.

im thinking of investing this money for 12 months in some stock. maybe 10 grand.

what do you guys think?

Weird, on my balance transfer page, I click "check for offers" and it presents me with "deposit money in my checking account" the same as it always has. Maybe they targetted that feature to only some users (since all of my cards have had it)?

I just checked my account and there is no sign of the checking account option (just the standard BT and the send a check option). Makes sense, Citi doesn't like me much at the moment (they just turned my down for a CLI due to my outstanding balances from my January AOR).

I just completed a a BT from CITI Business. The option was there to deposit money into bank account but would not accept either of the two account numbers I entered. Could it be that it somehow knows the accounts are my personal accounts and not business accounts?

This option is in neither of my CitiBusiness or my personal accounts.

UPDATE: I just looked at my one old Citi personal acct and it does have the BT to checking option (although this acct does not have a 0% BT offer with capped fee). I think the offer might be dependent on the length of account open since my other accounts are pretty new and do not have the BT to checking option.

I have a new Citi Biz card less than 1 month, can't find this option, my old Citi Personal does have this option

Same here.

Weird, two days ago I had a no-fee 6.90% BT offer on my Dividend.
Now, after I overpaid the card and I was ready to initiate the BT to checking, the offer is gone.

I can confirm both my old Citi personal and my new (4 month old) Citi Biz at 0%
now have this option and didn't before.

Did you try to use this option? Mine kept giving me an error message. See Above

I've pulled $62K in 0%, no-fee Citi BTs in the past month. Offered on my various Business, Professional and AT&T Universal accounts.

Offers in my straight consumer cards (Diamond, Dividend, Etc) seem to all be either $75 or $250 cap. I've yet to see an uncapped offer from Citi, but I'm sure that day will come...

well, just tried it but not working. Try ING Saving account, ING orange checking, Chase checking, Local bank (TX), no go at all. May be only work for Citibank account Too bad I have only Citi Saving account, well do not know routing number ))))

I just tried to use it with my local bank checking account / routing number, and the transfer went through (or at least the confirmation screen says so). Note this is the same checking account I have in their online payment system.

Edit: And then tried with another checking account I don't have in their online payment system. That did NOT work.

I see that there is 0% BT offer to bank account on my drivers edge....it says 6 months 0% from the date of transfer w/o any fee....my doubt is that my purchases intro 0% APR expires in October....will this BT apr be different frm regular purchase Apr?

I doubt no....coz @ the end of month card statement shows total balance on the account which includes BT amt too....can somebody explain me this?

Many of the features that Citibank promotes, DONT WORK:

Citibank has an option to tranfer money online to another Citibank acct holder. DOESN'T WORK.

They have the option of doing one day transfer into accounts. DOESN'T WORK if you have less than $500 in the acct.

They have an option of doing a one day transfer to an external account. DOESN'T WORK unless you've made a transfer exceeding $1000 from the external acct into Citibank exceeding a 20 day grace period.

They have the option of transfering to another Citibank acct holder at ATM's. Doesn't work if funds haven't been in the account for longer than 3 working days, even if you deposited CASH.

I found these things out by going to a level 3 online support agent. The Indian transferred me to the woman that transferred me to the typical IT guy.

Skipping 47 Messages...

Anyone know if citi allows you to do an ACH balance transfer to a bank account over the PHONE. I have a feeling they would reject it online since I haven't made a payment with the account online.
