Be careful of overfunding your Citi account too much. What was the CL of the Citi card in question? |

rigor said:yeah well i guess reverse BT's are one way of WASHING money. anyone could deposit an ACH from anywhere in the world and you could pull it out.
Anyways i think the KEY is to let the check deposit and not ask for it the same week . That seems to piss citi off.
Or they have a fixed day amount that i don't know but i've left money in for 2 weeks, spent a few charges and had no problems asking for credit refund ($15K+), but the time i did a ($14.8K) credit refund 2 days after the credit posted to a $0 account they did hold it for about 2 weeksHmm - so your net result was about the same - 2 weeks hold |

I just got a 10K overpayment check on a 19.9K Citi CL. No problems so far. |

I just requested a 15k check on a $500 limit card. No issues so far. CSR said it may take "2-3 weeks" because the amount was large. Check will probably come sooner. I have another BT pending to Citi for $9500 on a different Citi card. Gonna ask for a check on that one as well. If they ask the reason for this... i'll simply tell them I put the wrong account in and I wanted to pay a different card. Since I have a legit 24k balance on another Citi 0% for life card... the reason sounds legit.

Be careful of overfunding your Citi account too much. The only circumstances is that I have heavily overpaid this account twice within the last 6 months. Other than that, no.

Just wanted to update this thread to show that several people (djscal, apuraja and DjPiLL) have recently reported adverse action from Citi after BT to Citi cards and creating negative balances. This seems to be a new phenomenon as 100s or 1000s of us have done this in the past with no problems. |

No apuraja problems in this thread... djscal admitted he has HEAVILY overpaid his account 2 times in the last 6 months (and I assume this is the 3rd time???) DjPill doesn't have a problem YET... He is awaiting 1 check, and has another BT in motion (which may raise a red flag)... @djpill.... you might consider SPENDING some of that overpayment, showing USE on the card, before asking for a credit Check. @Everyone... I started this, planning to do an AOR.... I have decided to wait a bit. BUT I hope it has helped some people... IF this thread continues, and ADVERSE actions start, PM me so I can update the title and the OP. *NOTE* I wish I had PULLED the trigger on the AOR when I planned to (end of Sept)... I would have had a lot more money to put into the 7 month CD @ SECU!!! |

Actually... I already had a problem. Citi closed all three of my original CC accounts after they saw two credit accounts and a CC on my credit report at 100% (thanks to f'in National City). I have to pay back the 0% for life CC balance of 23k. I would call that a BIG problem.
And how do you think I paid off the 0% for life card? The FATWALLET way... with a 0% BT from Bank Atlantic. All documented in detail in my AOR thread. |

All documented in detail in my AOR thread. WHOOPS... didn't see all the facts here, so assumed what you posted was all the info. However, since they closed your BTFL, you should have been able to keep the terms the same, and pay it off with the minimum required each month. UNLESS, the BTFL had a purchase requirement.... but even then, you could have argued with them (and then sued, if neccessary), saying they CLOSED your account, thus eliminating your responsibility to MAKE purchases... which becomes a severable clause in the Terms.... you could have kept it there! |

Believe me I wanted to fight this. But they came at me hard and strong... and they are in the drivers seat because of the purchase requirement. I can sue... but they can continue to tack on interest in the meantime. If i don't pay them... they can add delinquiencies to my report. Is it worth the trouble in the end to fight them? I didn't think it was. |

Luckily you had a way out... and it is always a good idea to choose your fights wisely. ALTHOUGH sometimes I fight just for the principal... and if they make me mad enough I spend time researching it and make sure I am 80/20 to win before starting.... the BTFL issue needs a couple of good fights (since most are eliminating it, I wouldn't hurt the Members here).... they (the issuers) put clauses in, then eliminate the possibility of us meeting the clauses.... bad way to do business. BTW, you DO know that consumers (or ANY opposing Party) USUALLY win when the contract is written by the defedant, right? ESPECIALLY for the ONE-SIDED agreements, like CC terms.... |

CitiBiz CL: $12k opened 06/2007 Overpayment #1: $7.5k in July Overpayment #2: $16.0k in October No problem getting the balance refund. I've used the card for only 2 purchases so far. |

pdpyromaster said:Oh, also, I had 80k of BT going into my citi card, so I opened up a Citibank account with a 40k PURCHASE from my citi DPR card. Then I just let the 80k of bt's hit can you do it the other way? let's say your CL is rather small ($5k) and you BT $10K into your CITI CC account (for a negative $10k balance) can you then open a citibank account with a $15k PURCHASE? |
