Anyone having issues opening a new PM123 account?

I go to privacymatters.com, click "get it now" and then get a message about a certificate error, but I can't go past it to register anyways.

Using Firefox 3 by any chance?

Yep... tried it in IE too though, same message. Should it be working in IE?

Not sure about IE. I noticed that in Firefox 3 (vs 2) when it has a certificate error (which is an issue at the other end - not your browser), Firefox 3 makes it look like there's no way to accept the certificate and keep going. When you get the error message read it thoroughly - and look for a link, lower left corner I think, something about making an exception.

The short version of what's probably wrong - the security certificate they're using (which provides encryption, among other things) may not match the domain name they have it attached to.

More about the account gives the entire credit report. It's been like that for months on me. It really sucks.

DjPiLL said: So what is broken exactly with this service?

I last pulled on 4/12/08. I tried a new pull now and it still says my last pull was 4/12/08 but the report is good till 5/22/08). HUH?

Also when I click More about this account it doesn't give me the detailed info. It just give me my entire credit report again in the smaller window.

I am in the middle of sueing a debt collector right now and I need to be able to get accurate pulls on my account because if they ding my account I will be sueing for more damages.

I'm on the phone with their "Escalation Center" and this time, the CSR on the phone was able to duplicate the problem on her side. FINALLY!!!

Seems that they notice on my account that I had called about this ongoing issue back in early April so the CSR said she'll submit another problem ticket about this issue. Unfortunately, she doesn't know or have a time frame as to when this problem will be resolved..

For those of you who use PM123, call 1-866-212-2170 which is their Escalation Center (direct #) and report the problem!

Called Escalation today. Talked the CSR through the two issues (1 that you must logout and login again to see a refreshed report, 2 that the "more information" link displays the entire report again). Put me on hold.

Came back on and said it worked fine for him in "their system", so it must be something on my side. I explained that this was not user error and I had tried from multiple computers, various browsers, etc. He agreed to access the account (had to reset my password BTW)... took about 10 minutes then he said, "oh, okay, can you hold just a moment?"

He came back on, said he was able to duplicate issue #2 (details not appearing). Issue #1 couldn't be seen because it has been less than 24 hours since my last refresh. He said he had never seen this before and would forward my case with both issues noted to a technician. He could not tell me any timeframe for when I would hear back, but that I should receive an email from the technical staff... somehow I don't think that will happen. I will report back if I hear anything else.

Update on site issues: The details links ("More about this account") for tradelines are working as of this morning.

Wow... that didn't take long!

The link works for me now too.

Awesome, I guess it's done in preparation to charge us our $29.95 annual fee.

I was considering calling to cancel since bumping is useless now. My reason for a refund would have been that the site doesn't do what it should. The site was broken. Now that things work, it's hard to ask for a refund. Oh well. It's still a good deal for $30.

I had 4 inquiries added to my TU report with the 7/3/2008 pull... by 7/10/2008, I had "re-bumped" them off (I'm now at zero). Apparently they have been re-bumped by DiabloD3 and NoMoneyToWaste also.

Interesting.. I guess it can't hurt to keep trying.

Yay! Finally! And it only took them...........

In case anyone was wondering, this deal still works for the ~$30/year when canceling. I signed up yesterday (7/22) and called in today. Had to speak to customer service and request cancellation to get the offer, so it isn't fully automated anymore.

I'm not sure exactly how bumping works (or if it works at all anymore), but this seems like a good service to monitor credit reports.

The scores you get are not the real FICO scores, but FAKO scores, right?

Correct

I called 988-993-6264 FOUR different times (highlights are numbers you need to push to get LIVE person)

press 1 to cancel your membership
press 2 to place an order of for more information on benefits
press 3 to retrieve member id

to enter member id press 1
to enter cc# press 2
to enter home phone press 3

press 1 to cancel your membership
press 2 to place an order of for more information on benefits

Representative comes on the phone confirming your identity at your street location. I was not successful in obtaining the $29.95/year retention offer. Since milage varies, my four attempts follow:

1) Asked for lower price. Rep put me on brief hold. I checked with my supervisor and at this time there is no other offer available. Since rep said at this time, I asked whether there would be a time down the road when a cheaper plan would be available. She said Unfortunately your account does not qualify for any other offers
2) Asked for lower price. Unfortunately your account does not qualify for any other offers
3) Asked for lower price. Unfortunately your account does not qualify for any other offers
4) Asked for lower price. Advised that some co-workers were getting this service for $29.95 for an entire year. Unfortunately your account does not qualify for any other offers. I see you obtained this service by going directly to the privacy matters website. There are other sites which have products like this. Since I had already tried 3 times prior to this attempt, I gave up.

You don't want a live person. You want the automated way of getting the deal. It's in the QS.. called the Vance_Wade method I believe.

Edit - I just read the post above saying someone did get the offer via talking to a real person..

So, looks like YMMV.

I went directly to www.privacymatters.com I did not opt for the additional Privacy Matters Identity program. Did you? Did you sign up via an email invitation?

Just trying to figure out how to get the good deal.

I called twice and didn't get the offer. They said the offer is not available currently.

Just trying to figure out how to get the good deal.
received PM from chronostiltzkin:

Sorry, I didn't realize there was a message in my inbox, and sorry again that I won't be able to offer much help.

I went to privacymatters.com and signed up for the 7 day free trial I believe. It was really confusing and I ended up with a subscription to 2 programs. I called in and asked why I had 2 subscriptions, and said I only wanted to be able to check my scores. The phone rep said something to the effect of "Oh, okay, well I'll cancel the ... one because you don't need it."

Then I called in later to cancel the other service and the rep offered me the 1 year for $30 deal.

Hopefully this helps if you still needed it.

Based on this, I suspect you need to enroll initially in both services (Privacy Matters 123 and the Privacy Matters Identity programs)... talk to person to cancel Privacy Matters Identity immediately.... call next day to talk to rep - attempt to get the year long deal.

`

Tried to get the 29.95 annual offer on the phone but failed (twice) on the automated system and with CSR.

Is this deal even worth anything? Bumpage seems dead.

DavidScubadiver said: Is this deal even worth anything? Bumpage seems dead.

It depends on your need.
One year credit monitoring for all three at this price seems worth to me.

Wouldn't this be the time of the year when first FWers to jump on the $29.95 retention offer are charged? I think I've been using PM123 for a little bit over a year, but have not been charged as of yet.

No, this offer was supposed to expire automatically.

Shakuni, I can't make sense of your response. What I said was that I did a 7 day free trial around mid-Aug 2007, then called to cancel and got a retention offer of $29.95 for a year worth of service. I did use their (sometimes crappy) service for *over* 1 year (it's late Aug 2008 now), but have not been charged. I have been following this thread and have not seen *any* reports of anybody (who got on $29.95/year deal) getting charged.

My specific concern is that I don't know WHY I'm not being charged. It could be either b/c the credit card I gave them at registration no longer exists as a result of consolidation and closing card in order to avoid annual fees (in which case I should get in touch with them) or it could be that I'm in for some sort of a free ride (in which case I should probably NOT get in touch with them).

Thanks for the post ............

Got this lovely response when logging in today. Of course, I have not contacted the company in any way. Is this just the 1-year expiring?

What I meant was that your membership will automatically expire after one year.
I got charged the $29.95 fee few weeks after. Maybe their system was so screwed up from FW assault that you got lucky due to a combination of factors.

I became a member on 9/6/07. Was never charged $29.95. I am unable to login since "your membership was cancelled on 9/8/08."

I will see if my cc is charged.

I was "canceled" on or around 09/04/08 ... I see a credit (dated 09/04/08) of $1.00 from PrivacyMatters on the AM3X card I must have used when I registered a little over a year ago ...

When I click on "Returning Members", the popup that typically shows the 2nd login page now comes up blank except for Property Load Error - Please verify property file.Has this been seen before? If so, is it my computer, my PM123 account, or their system that is screwed up?

I'm getting it too. It's probably their system.

Me three.

Ok, now my wife's PM123 year-long membership came to an end and instead of anticipated $29.95 charge she got a credit of $1.00. It looks like they refunded a $1.00 charge of exactly a year ago. When are these clowns going to charge $29.95? Or are they going to do it at all?
