Yay, FR is over, AND they gave me the 20K increase that they originally denied me. My AMEX CL is now about 50K |

Did you end up closing any of the accounts preemptively? |

Nope, everything is still open. So should I try another CLI?

What all did they require from you and what did they accept. Did they accept the paycheck stub and a note or did they insist on more? |

What did you do about AMEX FR? What happens if you do not respond? VerbalK said:DAMN,
Just noticed that all my AMEX cards a flagged for FR. I didn't do anything to them since opening and reallocation. The only thing I did was request two cards on my gold for the 5000 MR point (which I got, along with the other 25K) I did request a CLI about 2 weeks ago, but that was denied in about a day because it was too soon from opening. Nothing but requesting the cards in the last two weeks, and I got FR'ed.
And what makes it worse, as a student last year, my 1040 only showed about 20K in income. I called and asked them if I can send a paystub and a note, and the woman said "yes", but who knows if they will read it. I've always placed my personal income at 60-65 and household at 115 (I include my roommate who makes about 50K) I have her paystub too. If they asked biz income, I always said between 2-4K, which I figure I could find a way to document.
So on monday I am definetly canceling all my business cards, but that still leaves me with about 12 grand in 0% money on my two other cards. Should I pay them off and close them down too. I'd also hate to lose my 40K+ MR points. |

I gave them the form to pull my 1040, and also attached a letter explaining my part-time student status and my paystub (and my housemate's) justifying my 115K HHI. Not sure if they looked at it or not. Seemed to be pretty much a formality. |

i cringe when i see people apply for 3 citi cards.. seems like they only ever will give you 2, and you always get 3 pulls, rather than just a sorry letter. |

I applied for a Citi AMEX, Professional, and Business TYN and got them all... and I already had three existing cards with them (one with a 24k balance). Maybe the two cards you are referring to are two personal.

Hey, I am trying something, wonder if anyone else does this. Since I still have 0% no fee BT offers for Citibusiness and AMEX IN:NYC (and plenty of room on both), any feelings on making all my minimum payments via BT? I know some BT can take more than a week, so I have to be on the spot, but they should work, correct? |

Max out the BTs on your cards and earn interest on them before you make the min payments.

I was trying to keep my utilization respectible, so citibiz was at about 87% to start. Now it is down to about 83%. INNYC was at 50%, but with a CLI it's down to 30. Since I can't pull a check from them, and don't want to get hung up laundering with only 3 months left on my offer (and thanks to SECU CD, little wiggle room to cover any delays) |

I guess you could do it. But doing a BT is usually significantly harder than normal billpaying methods. Doing that work for just the amount of a minimum payment may not be worth it. Now... if you used free credit on a 12mo card to pay down a 6mo card, and did it in a sizeable chunk, that might make some sense. |

Well, Mark, I'm joining you in noob! finance charge land. I got hit with a finance charge on my IN:NYC. Apparently the BTs I did to make the minimum payments (as mentioned above), got chalked up as purchases. I checked the website BT page, and it indeed says the rate will be the same as purchases (though I could have sworn that's not what it said a few weeks ago).
I'm not too worried though. For the next couple months of my intro period, the $510 at 15%APR should not put a major bite into my profits.... But I'm not going to use BTs to make minimums anymore. |

Heh, frickin' noob I do remember the AMEX terms as being kind of strange with regards to BTs made after the intro period. I guess that's what got you. This is of course where it's important to keep the terms and conditions with you so you can check the fine print before leaping. I agree that it won't amount to a huge financial amount. And heck, it may even make you look like a more profitable customer to AMX! |

Updates and an mini-Bonus-o-rama. Haven't updated in a while... in short I added a targeted Wachovia card. No fee 0% BT for 6 months. The deal was expiring so I took a chance. Got approved for 7500, to out $6750. Hit on TU I then decided to jump at the Southwest cards deals through chase. Chase Southwest(approved, 10K) hit EQ - $59 fee, 16 RR credits Chase Southwest Biz(approved, 15K) hit EQ - $59 fee, 16 RR credits Reallocated the limits to my chase sony and chase biz cards. Tried to cancel to get the annual fees back, but was told both times they would take the credits back. Plan to cancel in late Jan after I use the trips. Also applied for Chase United Mileage Pluswith the 25K miles after $250 spent (pending)12/17 hit EQ Amex Starwood Business Preferred Guest Card(denied - multiple reasons hit) EX Chase Marriott Business, free night + 20K pts, (deferred) 12/18 hit EQ Citi Hilton HHonors 15K pts, $25 cardselection (deferred) 12/19 Other Bonus sought
Did the Fidelity thing (with AOR money so I'm including it in the results) $100 credit 15K United Miles - 10K still pending |

The Southwest ones were from last month. We'll see. If I can get the united pts, I'll use that for one of my upcoming flights, and sell the SWA ticket. And if I miss on the Marriott, then then I have the Hilton as a backup for a free night or two. I figured it's a little risky, but I figure my results will be interesting, so i thought I should post it. |

FLARRRGGGG!!!! I just logged in to notice that both my business and chase lines are being reduced to only a few dollars over my balances. It looks like they are chasing me out. Any advice. It looks like when I tried to shift the Southwest available balance over and cancel the card set off a red flag.
Damn, I had close to 100K of available lines with them (now down to 30K and likely to shrink). Looks like my greed for SWA tickets is going to cost me big time for next years AOR. |
