Now to speculate. Was it approval of the 2 SW cards, or the 2 new applications (which I'm going to guess will get declined)? Sorry to hear, hope you are able to salvage something.

Not sure, I haven't been checking. I too am guessing they will be negged, which sucks because I'd much prefer flying xcountry on united than SWA, and staying in a Marriott rather than a Hampton inn.

Oh well, hopefully it won't fubar my credit too bad.

Watch the terms of the Wachovia deal. In the past, the terms have stated something along the line of "6-months from the time the check posts to your account". So if you pay it off and deposit a second check, you can get a second 6-months.

Flarg indeed.

My first orama had Chase do the same drill with reducing CLs (they actually did it twice). After I finally paid off the balances, everything was better. I got most of that credit back on my second orama.

It may indeed have been the reallocation that set them off. Was there any indication that you needed to be transferred to a special "credit ninja" in order to do the realloc? One FWFer got bit that way.

And you can always try getting in touch with a credit ninja to see if they will restore some lines, but they probably did a soft pull of your credit, and unless you can smack them in the face with a ton of liquid funds (substantially more than your AOR money) then I suspect they will not budge.

I didn't have any problem reallocating. I did that right after I got the cards in early nov. when I tried to cancel(and keep the swa points), I did go to a ninja, who told me that he would take the points away if I canceled. I let it go.

I'm thinking it is this last round of apps that did it. I received in the mail today checks to do a cash advance off my Sony card, which appeared to have the original credit balance on it. Since that was probably mailed last week, I'm guessing my desire for United and Marriott points set off the flags.

I'll guess I will just ride it out until I unwind the Sony. I may do it a bit early so I don't have a 99% utilization on my credit report when I do another AOR. I'll close everything except my oldest freedom card and see if they forgive me.

I did send a secure message about this, I'll post the results.

Assuming Chase doesn't reinstate the CLs, I see three possible outcomes:

1) If you leave the Sony as is and keep making minimum payments, then Chase may still decrease your CL's AGAIN down the road. But they may not be able to decrease them much.

2) If you make a medium size payment on the Sony, it will probably make your scores look a tad better, and make Chase a tad happier. But there's still a chance they'll CLD again (they did to me) and this time they'll have more to take.

3) If you pay it off completely, then Chase will probably be moderately happy. However, if the rest of your credit report shows impairment, there is still a chance they will ninja attack again, and this time, they could take almost everything.

4) The only guarantee is that if you pay off the card entirely, and fundamentally pay your other balances down, then Chase will be happy and welcome you with open arms again.

Unless you feel you're on the verge of a cascading credit meltdown, I'd just ride it out.

Well the business line will unwind in February I think, so I will pay that off next month (15K). I might pay a couple grand in January, then the rest by Feb 1st.

I "only" have 11 grand left on the Chase Sony, so I think I will just ride it out, maybe make double payments here on out.

More bad news, my Citi Hilton HHonors was denied.

Good news, my Chase United Card was APPROVED! I think it was approved before my Marriott card app was processed. The paperwork says a 12K line, but after registering it, it looks like it too was dropped down to 1K. But at least I'll salvage some points from my ill advised mini AOR.

With my Hilton and Marriott cards denied, it looks like I'll have to pay out of pocket for a hotel in San Diego in February. The horror!

So, Citi denied me for their Hilton Card... and today I get not one, not two, not three, but four pre-qualified offers for others citi cards and checking based lines of credit.

Do you think I could call up CS and see if I can parlay this into my hotel card? I'm dying to get a free night so my upcoming mega frugal vacation where I take a 4 day jaunt to San Diego with car, hotel and airfare all running me under 400 dollars.
