I recently contacted Countrywide regarding setting up my Countrywide Online SavingsLink account for bill payments. They told me to select account type as Money Market Checking account even though it is an Online savings account. Before they replied 2 days later, I had already setup my Citi cards for click to pay payments with my Countrywide account since I know Citi takes payments from Savings accounts. I had selected "savings" as the account type before they replied and told me to select checking. After the 6-7 days it took to verify the account, it shows up in my Citi bank information as a "checking" account even though I had selected savings. Since the Countrywide SavingsLink appears to be electronically identified as a Checking Account (according to Citi and what Countrywide told me to select) has anyone set up and paid their Chase or American Express credit cards with Countrywide SavingsLink accounts? I don't like keeping money in my checking account because I get a lot less than Countrywides 5.40%. So if I could pay all my credit cards w/ Countrywide and not have to leave money in my checking to pay AMEX and Chase (which only take from Checking accts) that would be great. Reason I ask is because for American Express they are very specific about the account ONLY being a checking account. But since Countrywide is seen as a checking account has anyone successfully made payments from their savings link account to American Express and Chase who only take payments from checking accounts? Or will AMEX reject the payment because its "seen" as a Money Market Checking Acct? I don't want to attempt to pay my entire balance get slapped w/ a late fee if they reject the payment. I also don't want to get charged a fee if I try a small payment amount like $1, then get charged a $25 fee for rejected or non paid funds. So I am wondering if anyone has paid AMEX or Chase successfully with their Countrywide SavingsLink account. When I called customer service they said SavingsLink is a savings account and they only take from Checking. I explained that Countrywide said it shows up as Checking and they said they don't know anything about that and could not guarantee payment would go through. Each bank is telling me its up to the other bank. So I'm wondering if anyone on FW has been successfully paying Chase and AMEX w/ Countrywide SavingsLink as a "checking account" funding source. Thanks for your input. from AMEX: from Countrywide: Thank you for banking with Countrywide Bank. In the event you are setting up your SavingsLink account with another financial institution or direct deposit please select account type as Money Market Checking. In response to your inquiry, due to Financial Institutions not recognizing that the SavingsLink account is a savings account.
