I don't know what's taking them so long to ACH money into their bank. I openned a 4-month internet CD on 9/5 with ACH funding. So far the money is still sitting in my bank on 9/17!!! I called on 9/14 to inquire the status and the rep confirmed that the CD was openned on 9/5. I'm waiting to receive the paperwork of the CD. Isn't it unusual for a simple ACH to take this long?

I am in the same situation. It's been 8 days since i opened the 4-month CD.
The money is till in my bank. I called and they said they have the backlog, etc.

I have tried to contact them via their email address
"customercare@indymacbank.com" <customercare@indymacbank.com> and not had any reply. this is the return address they used to send me email about my CD applications.
I have sent 2 emails to them (sept 13 & sept 18) - they never replied!

Just a warning to those who need to contact indymac - don't reply on their email address, they don't reply - use the phone

I am in the worst situation. I sent them a check 2 weeks ago but the money is still in my bank. I called them and they told me they have no idea where my check is, even they received my signature card which was in the same envelop. I am about the cancel the account if they still can't find it.. Very bad experience! So, don't send them any checks!

To all funding by ACH, have you received and returned the authorization agreement (with a voided check or statement copy) in the new account kit? Do they ever pull the ACH deposit before you send this back? If they don't honor the rate past the 12 day period for ACH because of their delays in sending out the new account kit, is it better to go ahead and send them a check then? Their email says you can send a check before receiving materials to lock in the rate.
<edit> They said on the phone they pulled my ACH 2 days ago, even though they haven't received paperwork from me and that my account is already earning interest. We'll see when/if the money leaves my BoA money market, from reports here it doesn't sound good. I guess I can't move that money from one BoA money market to another while I'm waiting to see what IndyMac does.

More generally, has anyone who opened a CD in the past few weeks received their new account kit? I opened the account on 9/7 and mailed the check about a week later. They cashed the check on 9/18, but no new account kit yet.

CD opened 9/1. ACH transfer 9/14. Received account kit on 9/20, dated 9/17. Enclosed letter indicates I've until 9/29 to send the fund to lock in the rate in the attached rate sheet. A call to Indymac confirmed that the CD was already funded and rate was locked on 9/14 and I can send the signature card at any time.

I guess it should be here in a few days then. Thanks!

So, you started earning interest on 9/1?

I've been with indymac for the last 4-5 years. Never had any problems with them. Their CD rate is always the highest locally. Been holding a couple of CDs with them and an MMA. Their billpay service is a little iffy though.

Opened CD with them August 25
They ACH'd today

rate is 0.2 lower than when I applied. (5.55 instead of 5.75)

Still haven't received any paperwork...

Jen, i have not even received the welcome kit. It's almost 2 weeks now. The fun is still in my account at the other bank. I called them last week and a CSR said they are having a back log and they will pay interest from a second day that i opened the account. Ha ha, i dont believe so. I would like to do the ACH. I dont feel comfortable to send them a check with the amount of 100k. So i'll wait.

Maybe IndyMac is catching up, I was expecting a longer delay from reading this thread. I applied online on 9/20 with an ACH transfer, The funds were pulled last night 9/24. So maybe I will have to wait for the welcome package but at least will get the 5.75%. Better luck with Countrywide, Applied same day as IndyMac and got a Fedx overnight package yesterday from them. Will now overnight the funding check to them

I just found out you don't need anything from IndyMac to login to your new account. Like I said, I applied on the 9/20 funds pulled on 9/24 and started earning interest that day. I thought I might need to wait for welcoming kit to go online, So I called and was told just use your full social with no dashes for user name and last 4 digits of social for password. Was nice to see the account and confirm I got the 5.75%. So all in all opening was very smooth and fast with IndyMac

Has anybody funded this with a Credit Card? It says "Credit Card Advance" which I'd assume means Cash Advance and not purchase, but I was curious if anybody tried it and it proved otherwise (and how much you could send).

My Internet FR MM is showing 5.120% !! I have over 70K in it but their website is saying rate is still 5.75% !!

alert mods

Are you guys getting monthly paper statements for the Internet First Rate MM? Just wondering, I opened my account in August, and haven't gotten anything. I'm guessing the statement date would be the same for all. Didn't sign up for web access. Hopefully, will get a statement this week.

alert mods

Mnsweeps,
Mine shows the same. I called my branch after seeing your post but they say the computer shows the higher rate (without looking my account specifically). I mentioned the lower rate and they said someone else also called earlier. I guess we need to check back tomorrow since the website rate page does show an update today but I cannot figure out what was updated.

sleepybum,
you should get a statement but I'm not sure when. Interest is always credited at the end of the month so statements are calendar month based and not based on signup date anniversaries. My statements go to the branch so I don't pay attention to the dates too much. I even get monthly statements for the CD's since they pay interest monthly.
