When I submitted the BankAtlantic Biz card App.... (the one I got instant approved for 25k)... I tried a 15k BT to my Citi MC. Well this was before I was approved for 25k... and low and behold the 15k is now sitting in my Citi account as a credit balance. I submitted the request to get a check for this balance. Should I submit another BT from this card for say $9500 and pay another $75 fee? If I would have known they would have approved me for 25k... I would have submitted a higher BT number. Duh! |

Reallocating from Professional to Business is better because the ensuing balance won't show up on your credit report and won't damage your credit score.
Good point. Forgot about that. I knew there was a good reason why you always go from personal to business. I agree with r0man's sentiment about trying to get more balances off your credit report by using the CitiBusiness card over the Prof, but one thing you might consider is taking a BT on the Prof card for the first 11 months or so, paying it back and then reallocating to the CitiBusiness line. You might get line increases on the Prof over the course of the year and then be able to reallocate the Prof and more unused CL from the Diamond to the CitiBusiness. The offer on the CitiBusiness should be available for one year after you opened the account, but there's always a risk that it might "disappear." It's also easier to reallocate from personal to business and sometimes impossible to go in the opposite direction (with Citi). You might follow r0man's advice with regard to the extra CL on the Bank Atlantic/Juni-Barclays card. If you haven't done a BT yet on the Juni-Barclays National Parks line, you might be able to reallocate or consolidate the line to the Bank Atlantic and then do another big BT: $17.5k on the Nat Park + $10k unused on the Bank Atlantic would give you $27.5k to play with. Provided that Juni-Barclays lets you do one BT, you would only pay $75 for the BT (vs. $75 on the unused Bank Atlantic + $50 on the Nat Parks = $125), you'd get an extra 3 months on the whole thing (15 months vs. 12), plus keep it all off you credit report. |

Good idea. I will call them once I get both cards. Also... in an attempt to not piss off Citi with too many BT credit balances... is there another BT friendly card I can use? What would you suggest? Is BoA credit friendly? Too bad I haven't gotten my Wells Fargo card yet... I heard you can ACH off credit balances from them. |

I am seeing another Bank Of America account on my latest TC report with a 5,000 limit. This might be the BoA platinum plus mastercard. I guess the strategy I should take with BoA is to try to reallocate all three personal cards (12,000 NEA, 9,500 BankAmericard, 5,000 PlatinumPlus) and move all of these balances to the NEA card and do one big BT right? Is it worth reallocating all of these to the BoA business card? The biz card BT is 0 fee... but for only 9 months. Think its worth it to take three less months to get these balances off my credit report? I really don't care of my credit scores tank at this point... I already have a mortgage and a car. Besides the scores will go back up once balances are paid off anyways right? |

Citi is the only credit balance friendly issuer that I'm aware of among the big banks. Definitely DO NOT try this with BoA. |

I should probably call Chase and ask them if I can get a 16 digit account number to link to my HELOC (which is a 12 digit account).

BofA won't let you reallocate personal to business, so it's a moot point. Instead, reallocate all the balances to the card with the lowest transfer fee and longest 0% period, and do the BT on that. With Citibank, if you have a credit refund pending, do not request a BT until you're done with any credit balances. This will delay the clock from starting on your BT request until you're finally ready. |

The BOA Platinum plus will be a better card to consolidate since it has 0% offer and no BT fee (NEA IIRC has $30 BT fee). The BOA Platinum plus card is a good card to channel other BT into as long as you don't end up with negative balance. |

I am looking at Penfed's BT options. I think PenFed lets you pay off installmant loans... HELOCS... etc. I could theoretically have Penfed BT money to my Chase HELOC and then right before the payment hits on the HELOC I transfer the money out of my HELOC to my Chase Checking? Then I can set up BoA to BT money to the Penfed? I will pay some interest... but I guess this would work right? Or should I just abuse Citi's credit friendly tactics?

Thanks for the warning. I am going to do a search on this. I should probably call Chase and ask them if I can get a 16 digit account number to link to my HELOC (which is a 12 digit account). FWIW, I've done the following with BA 0% $0 fee card: Reallocated 2 cards into a 36K CL BT'ed out $32K to checking BT'ed in $20K from Bank Atlantic 0% card (leaving a $12K balance) BT'ed out antoher $20K to checking (back up to $32K balance) BT'ed in another $8K from US Bank 0% card (down to $24K balance) All seems fine. I did this last month. |

The wife wants to do a Wife-O-Rama now. LOL Life is good. Now I have to start planning her AOR. Any advice I should follow for a Wife-O-Rama? All of our accounts are separate/individual. The only thing we share is the mortgage. Even our car loans are separate. |

I called Advanta and found out I was approved for 10k. I tried to do a CLI over the phone (to 15-20k) but she said that it would have to go through an underwriter. She said she is mailing out the forms needed to submit this... but I may just pass since she said an underwriter would have to look at it personally. She said he would need tax forms and pay stubs which I dont have a problem showing... but she also said when I asked that he may pull another credit report and that obviously wouldn't be good. If I was to try the CLI online... what are the odds of getting approved? Do people typically see instant approvals? Or is it a simple yes/no answer? |

None ! I tried all tricks with Advanta, didn't get a buck in CLI (I was approved for 7.5K with a FICO of 780+ and requsted 2.5K increase). Yes, I submitted my tax returns, paystubbs but underwrites declined. Reasons : (1) insufficient number of years in business (2) insufficient history with Advanta. Wrote a strong letter to their underwriting dept even and got no reply. Advanta Sucks ! Advanta Sucks ! Advanta Sucks ! |

I called US Bank to ask them what the deal with their application is... and the woman in Underwriting said they cannot give credit cards to anyone in New York State as they do not have a presence here. I don't see any inquiries on my report either so I guess this is a no-go with them. Cross off the list. |

Got more mail today: National City Business sent me a letter saying my card was declined because they could not verify the business address. Oh well... i'll cross that card off the Wife-O-Rama. I got all three Bank Of America personal cards as well as my Visa check card for the BoA checking account ($100 bonus) I opened. The CSR activated all three cards and was more than happy to reallocate everything into the NEA card putting that card at a 25,500 limit and the other two (Platinum Plus & BankAmericard) at $500 each. Did BT over the phone to my Citi checking account for 22,500. Very nice. Promotion good till Sept 23rd, 2008. Advanta sent me a letter saying my card was approved (didn't say what limit was on the letter) but I already called them and got the limit which was 10,000. |

Some more interesting things about Advanta : I called up Advanta CSR on 26th and asked her to do $7400 BT out of $7500 limit. For some reason she said the max I can transfer is $7225+$50 =$7275. I didn't get the logic but asked her to do direct deposit $7225 to my BOA checking account. She did it immediately and next day the transfer showed up on my account but never showed up in BOA account and then on 28th, I got a call from Advanta's fraud dept. I was in a meeting so couldn't receive the call. It was a 1-8000 # but required someone's extension and I didn't know the extension of the person and he/she left no voice mail. It was 8 PM central when I noticed the "missed call"; their "Customer Service" is off course CLOSED by 8 PM EST !! Today I called their customer service and demanded an explanation. Lady was clueless and said she sees a note from fraud dept that says the BT is not cleared because the amount is too high !!!($7K is tooo highhh for them !!) but she promised that she will pass the info to fraud dept that the BT was done upon my instruction and ask them to remit the money ASAP. Advanta sucks ! Advanta sucks ! Advanta sucks ! Advanta sucks ! |
