Ok I am going to start a Wife-O-Rama this week. Possibly tomorrow. I posted her info in the quick summary. She doesn't have much in the way of major credit cards. Two Chase and one HSBC. She used to have a Citi but they closed it on her due to inactivity (bastards). She may have another Citi lying around based on her CR. I am going to ask her to call them to find out. She has very good credit scores so I am hoping that her scores along with the HHI will net her some decent limits. I used many of the same credit card offers that I used on mine, but I weeded out some of the crap that I learned from my AOR. Oh and I have to also find a daily spender for her to use. Right now she is using a Chase card... but she may be better off using a different bank (maybe one that doesn't have as generous BT offers so I can reallocate Chase). She likes the Chase cash rewards because it credits her statement every month so it would be good to find something similar. |

Received a TON of cards today in the mail. Felt like a kid on Christmas. Anyways... received a few new approvals: RBS Platinum Mastercard: 8,000 Limit Wachovia Visa Signature: 10,000 Limit AMEX SimplyCash: 3,000 Limit M&T Bank sent a letter wanting the name of my business. Should I give my name as my business? Should I pursue this further? Thoughts? I am still waiting for the Chase business card to arrive and hopefully be approved. Does Chase business normally take this long? |

I need a plan of attach for my AMEX cards. I was approved 7,000 for the Blue and 3,000 for the SimplyCashSM. Both of those are 0% purchase cards. I applied for INNYC card and I was instantly approved with the limit being sent in the mail. I didn't get that card yet though. I am going to assume thats another low limit card. I know people requesting crazy CLIs. WHat is the best plan of attack for AMEX? Should I try to get good CLIs and then reallocate to INNYC for the 6mo BT deal? Is it even worth the risk of the FR? I don't have an issue with the FR... I can definitely back up my income and show my assets/bank statements to them. I just don't want to spook them too much because as you can see their initial limits were kinda low. |

I do not think she will want to get the Penfed because she will probably want one of her OWN cards... you know one that she can hide the statements from me. |

Wow... I am still activating cards. I received my WaMu card today... and I am glad I made another call to their customer service BT department. They had a dammed 26k pending balance transfer still active... even though I had two idiots from the customer service department telling me there were no BTs active AND none would be active until I received the welcome package. Luckily the guy I spoke to was able to cancel the request and I will get a letter in the mail saying so. |

I am working on a home improvement project so not all the BT money will be sitting in the bank. I am spending a lot of it on the project so I don't have to touch my 5.5% CDs. I am considering either BoA AAA for simplicity (I just opened a checking account with them)... or I may try Countrywide. I need a bank that also does checking so I can easily move money to checking to pay these cards off. For the wife... i'll probably just set up another $100 BoA checking account and AAA card since that will only be in her name and it will be easier for her since we have a ton of local banks here. |

I called Discover about my Business account with them. The account was still pending (maybe a letter is on the way to me). She asked me the nature of my business... projected revenue (I keep telling people $0 when they ask this question that I don't want to lie). Well after all of that she gave me a $5000 limit for the Business Miles card. Not bad I guess. Tomorrow ill try to reallocate the Discover Personal to Business and then do the BT. |

I called M&T this morning and they said they cannot process the information unless I give them an actual company name. They do not accept my name to go under the company name. I could have given them a BS name to start... but I had a feeling they would probably try to do a search for this company name. They also said they haven't run my credit report yet and they couldn't until they received this info. Another user on here reported that they actually asked for a business license. Sounds like you need to jump through a lot of hoops to get one of these cards. It might be best to just drop this application... not worth it for a 6 month BT. |

A GE MoneyBank account appeared on my credit report today with a 13,500 limit. Not bad. That card is 0% BT for 6mo but it has a $250 cap so I will just use for utilization. I may add this card to my wife's AOR for utilization for her since they gave me a decent limit. |

I was doing a little pre-number crunching to find out how many MMAs I have to open to stay under the 100k FDIC limit... and when I add up all my future BT money as well as the money I currently have in HYS for my Citi 0% for life deal... I will be starting off at 180k of BT money earning interest. Daym! Now I just have to figure out how to avoid adverse action. LOL For those that have asked where I am going to park my money... I am most likely going to go with a Countrywide & Indymac while doing most of my billpaying from Indymac. I will use Bank Of America AAA as a backup.... but I don't like the idea of parking cash with a bank that I currently hold a high BT balance with. It would probably be very unwise of me to screw around with AMEX and CLIs while I am carrying this high a balance so I probably won't push the envelope in risk of a FR. I'll definitely keep using 30k WaMu, 24k Penfed, and 13.5k GE Money for utilization. I will need it. I am even considering making my wife an AU on my WaMu so she gets that utilization benefit as well. Think thats worth it? |

Nice AOR! Would it be possible for you to show the % util on each card you did a BT. It looks like you've gone way over the FWF recommendation of 49% on personal but I can't be sure. Thanks. |

Pill, I also think a util breakdown would be useful. Before locking up money in CDs or T-bills, make sure to have a good projection of when you will need to pay off short-timer CCs (6/9 month), as well as accounting for the minimum payments, which will actually be pretty dang significant over the next few months. You don't want to run into a cash flow problem. My last AOR had a close call about 9 months into it when I had to pay off a card, but the T-bill wasn't going to mature for about half a month after the due date. I think it's a GREAT idea to have a large deposit balance with a bank you have a BT on. After all, do you think BofA will be more or less alarmed at someone with a $40k credit card balance if they also have a $180k deposit account? It's only if you start using the account for something resembling check kiting or money laundering that they may get ticked. |

I am even considering making my wife an AU on my WaMu so she gets that utilization benefit as well. Think thats worth it? FWIW, I'm "parking" (love that term) my money at SBoT in their Hometown Rewards Checking account. Unlike BoA, their rates haven't gone down for this product, instead they've lowered the rates for some of their other prodcuts a bit. There are no guarantees, but a rep tells me they have every intention of keeping their 6.01% APY, and they're trying to persuade more of their local customers to switch to this Rewards Checking account because its costs are a lot lower than their other accounts. Also unlike BoA, there is just one interest rate, as long as you meet the monthly requirements. As you know, setting up a joint account will make up to 200K FDIC insured. Their bill pay is easy to use with the same type of features as BoA's on-line banking, although I like BoA's user interface better. You also have unlimited checking/bill pay with no penalty, unlike a MMA with BoA and others, which have a limited number of withdrawals during a statement period. (I was told you can get around the withdrawal limit by establishing a BoA MRA (Master Relationship Account) and "sweeping" the money between BoA checking and the BoA MMA account.) The main negatives are that opening the account isn't as streamlined as at banks like BoA, it takes about 3 weeks to get the check card, and you have to meet the requirements to get that 6.01% APY. On the other hand, so far they've been accurate with accruing interest at the correct rate, unlike BoA. |

This is a very brief guesstimate as to where I will stand as far as utilization once all my BTs are done. Let me know what you think. Looks like personal will be just under 49% (isn't that a good thing?). Personal: Citi 0% for Life: 23400/26500/89% HSBC: 9500/10750/89% BoA NEA: 22500/25500/89% National City: 13000/15000/89% RBS: 7000/8000/88% Wells Fargo: 5200/6000/89% Wachovia: 8800/10000/88% WaMu: 0/30000/0% PenFed: 0/24000/0% GM Money Canine: 0/13500/0% AMEX Blue: 0/7000/0% Existing Store Creditcards: 0/10000/0%
Total Business: 89400/186250/48% (this is not counting my dad's cards on my report) Business: (aren't these OK to run up?) BankAtlantic/Juniper: 42000/42500/99% (after reallocation) CitiBusiness: 11000/11500/99% (Citi AMEX, Professional, Biz after rellocation) Advanta: 9700/10000/97% Chase: 25000/26000/98% (I am guesstimating this since I dont have my Chase limits yet... already have 21k in card limits) Discover Business: 10000/10500/96% (after reallocation)
Total Business: 97700/100500/98% (give or take) I am going liquid with all my funds. Gonna split money between Countrywide, Indymac, and maybe Presidential and BoA if needed. I am not afraid of a FR if they just want documentation of assets. I am not fudging any of my info. As one other poster said in his AOR "I am in it to win it". |

Here is the big question for the experts here: What should I do with my AMEX? Should I ask for CLIs just for utilization? With all the available BT money... I don't think its worth pulling money from AMEX. But if I can get away with a CLI for utilization i'd be willing to do that. |

Might as well ask for a CLI from AMEX, they're giving them to everybody (if they do ask you to fill out a fancy form for more info, then hold off, that will ding you with a hard inquiry). Your utilization doesn't seem much more than the "common" FWF template. Which doesn't mean you won't have adverse action, but it's not ridiculously aggressive. Your dad's cards, if theyr'e still open, probably WILL still count towards your utilization, so that's good. |
