Here in Houston, I came upon an advertisement on the drive through window claiming 7.1% on a year-term savings account. This was at the WAMU at Bellaire and Bissonnet. According to the teller, the only stipulation is that you can't withdraw the money for a year.

"Cliffnotes: $500 max 12 month 7% CD, but you can add up to $500 a month. This program will go nationwide in September. Illinois and and Texas accounts can already open it via phone. Georgia and Washington too but it pays 6%."
Does a GA account mean opened in GA? I opened my WAMU account when I lived in GA, but I no longer live there anymore but the account is still open and active.
Actually the $500 max restriction kills the deal. Even if you add $500 every month, it's not worth it. Might as well stick with a 6% savings account promo offer, where u can deposit as much as you want. (Or a CD offering 5.25% or so)
this isnt designed for the FWF high rollers and people with $100k AOR money, this is for the average Joe who saves a couple hundred per month from their paycheck. This would work very well for that type of client
