Can anyone confirm that those who sent overnight applications yesterday by mail are getting in on the CD offer still this morning? I haven't got the delivery confirmation from USPS yet, but it should be there by noon. I'm still praying! |

actually interesting question, given the cd doesn't come to maturity til next year do we have to pay 2007 income tax on the amount that accrues from now til December? This is an interesting question and raises an annoying point about CDs today.... First of all, you pay taxes when the interest is paid. Now, back in the early 90s I remember local banks being very willing to pay you all the interest at the end of the term, so you could defer income into a more favorable tax year, for example. Well, last year I called all the top CD issuing banks and none of them would do this! I suspect it is because with the internet everything is automated now and they can't customize the CD to pay you at the end... and maybe there are tax implications for the bank if they pay at the end... In anycase it removes a very nice tax avoidance scheme... |

No, It is a great deal, and congratulations to all those that got the "cheese" Thought about it when you gave me the info last week and looked into how to get eligibility and just got busy with other stuff. Have locked in a bunch of CDs the last couple weeks and my brain was a little burnt out and did not feel like a chasing another deal. |

We are bound to love even sinners... Is sfchris a rogue or a liar? I cannot love sfchris' roguery, or I should be a rogue myself. I cannot love sfchris' lying, or I should be untrue; but I am bound to love him still, and even though I am wronged by sfchris, yet I must not harbor one vindictive feeling, but as I would desire God to forgive me, so I must forgive sfchris. |

Just got signature confirmation from USPS. Signed by KEVIN NELSON at 9.51 am Ditto. I called this morning, I'm not in the system yet, but I was quite impressed with the CS urgency. They took the time to call downstairs to 'member services' to have them find my stuff, verify it was there and then came back on and apologized for the delay (its been less than 24 hours, pretty impressive apology) and that they got 'slammed' with overnights yesterday and are a little behind, but that I would be setup today....... I'm really rather impressed with how they are handling this so far. |

my 200K cd is visible. yeah, baby! good luck to those who are still waiting for SECU to digest the deluge of cash sent over the last couple of days. i'm actually surprised how fast they've been able to process everything and hold times for the phone have been more than reasonable, too. |

In anycase it removes a very nice tax avoidance scheme... Citibank would be one of them (at least in my state). I had a 6%, 6 month interest deferred CD with them last year. It's part of Citi's standard account opening package, but you have to request the option. |
