Must be a scam. Are you serious? Is there any ways that I can verify whether it is a scam or not? I called that # and it sounded real though. |

Thanks Op for 75,000 miles! Applied for all three (the MasterCard and Business MasterCard on the same day, then applied for the AMEX about a month later). 25,000 mile bonuses received within 2 days of each statement closing date (after meeting the $750 spending requirement of course). Citi is actually encouraging cardholders to get both the MasterCard and AMEX versions of the AAdvantage card. I received a targeted email stating that if I signed up for the AMEX they would permanently waive the annual fee on the AMEX as long as I kept and paid the annual fee for the MasterCard version. Of course I had already signed up for the AMEX and the new sign-up bonus was extremely low (something like 2,000 miles). |

Please keep up posted on your attempt. That's very valuable. Thanks.
I got my e-statement for the AMEX version of Aadvantage card and it shows 25,000 bonus miles! My account on aa.com does not reflect the bonus points or the card activity points yet. Hopefully in a couple of days it should.
Update: The bonus miles for the AMEX version of Aadvantage card showed up on aa.com. Thanks OP for 50,000 miles pras
Did you cancel your MC before applying the AMEX? Thanks. No. The MC was still open. pras |

Thanks. 25,000 down, 45,000 to go. Didn't see a mention of the Citi/AAdvantage Visa card with 20,000 mile bonus (at the middle of the page): http://usa.visa.com/personal/cards/credit/visa_signature_apply.html?it=c|/personal/cards/credit/visa_signature.jsp|Apply%20Now |

I applied for both the business Visa and personal MC. Both decisions deferred. I guess we'll see what happens. |

180000 down, many more to go, I hope! I'm am dreading having to fight CSR's to cancel 2 personal AA cards at once. I'd like to consolidate like I have in the past, but it seems I'm at the maximum credit they're willing to give at my HH income. Last two applications were delayed with phone calls to move existing credit over to my two new personal cards. Not sure whether that or canceling is a bigger pain. |

AA site said:2 A total of 25,000 AAdvantageŽ miles may be redeemed for coach class Continental US/ Canada MileSAAverSM awards. For more information on AAdvantageŽ award redemption please see Redeem Miles at www.aa.com/aadvantage The #2 footnote mentions a restriction on travel outside of the US. Does this mean I can't use the 25,000 points for a free off-peak ticket to Mexico for my honeymoon? |

Applied for both me and DH, both deferred. Will see ... Though the citi hilton card I applied afterwards got instant approval and high line. Also, This offer is directly linked on the AA webpage now. Another note for citigold customers: the $85 annual fee can be waived if you link the AA world master card to your citigold account - I was told a while back when I upgraded my account to citigold. I think the other alternative is you can have a diners club card fee waived. Update on results: Both DH and I got the card today, but both with a letter. They moved 10K line from DH's Citi Pro to the new account for a total 15k line, stating total CL for an individual. They closed my Citi PPE (which I was not very happy) and gave me mere 7k line, stating inactive account. Both DH and I got the Pro and PPE for pts more than a year ago and did not have much activity afterwards except I did BT on the pro and DH did on the PPE. It seems to me citi limits total 4 mastercard, since I had 4 accounts and DH had 3. (I believe citi consider Pro as personal.) As for the hilton visa I mentioned, it seemed to be treated differently. It was instant approval after I applied the AA, and had a fairly high line. I am not sure this is because it is a visa. |

I'm up to 85,000. Looks as though AA is continuing to allow "churning" that UAL stopped allowing last year. I tried to cancel one of the biz cards, but stayed with it as they transferred it to a no-fee thank you points card. I'll never use it again, but I didn't have to close. |

They did not want me to churn - they give me 5000 miles to stay until annual fee comes. bula said:I'm up to 85,000. Heads up, Citi's in a giving mood today, I called around 8PM to cancel on a business AA card and was offered 5000 miles to stay. I then called to cancel a personal AA card and was offered 3000 miles to stay. 8000 miles isn't chump change, almost 1/3 of the way to another free ticket. For purposes of comparison, Chase's retention offer for a business United card was 2500 miles. I only took it because it put me over the bump for another RT ticket. |

Or can you call back the next day (or once the 5000 miles posts to your account) and cancel, keeping the 5000 miles? |

I've had the AA gold card ($50 annual fee) for a few years. Last year when I called to close my account they offered me 2,000 miles which I took because it was just enough for me to get a ticket to South America. This year when I called to close my account they asked if I wanted miles or or the annual fee waived. I chose to have the $50 credited to my account. |
