How many discover cards could one have? And would the count be different for personal and business cards?

Hard Pull on personal credit?

great find, OP.

add this to the QS:

linkage, no need for creditcards.com

If you are applying as a sole proprietorship, my understanding from discussions with Discover CSR is that your maximum exposure (as a proxy for credit line) will be underwritten together with your personal card. So I was given a paltry line with the option to reallocate from personal to business. Since personal is 0% for life, I canceled the biz application.

Nice find.......... BT fee is capped at $75.

Does anybody know if you have to be a US citizen or permanent resident to be eligible for this card. Last time one of my friends applied for a discover card, and he got a call verifying if he is a US citizen. When he said he is not, then he was denied the card. Is this true for all discover cards? Thanks

This seems to be true for corporations, too.

Got my card today. Checked the paperwork and max. fee is $99 instead of $75 so waiting for them to straighten it out. It clearly states $75 on the website.

Who do they pull and what kind of credit limits are people getting?

Pissed I didn't see this before...

I have a 12 month offer, pulled from experian (I'm in NY), got a $10K limit (about normal for my credit cards), and consolidated all of my other Discover to this card.

Only problem is that they BT to a card only, so I've got to wait a little bit.

If you want 0% on purchases for 12 months and BT for 12, then get the card from discover's main link...but for the professionals, this one with just BT is better.

How long did it take to get this card? I applied online over a week ago and have not even seen a pull yet. All of the others I applied to appeared in a day or two.

I was declined by mail yesterday due to "insufficient time in business" or some wording like that. Apparently they did not like my 0 years / $0 entry. They never did a credit pull so no damage done.

They BT'ed to my Visa Debit/ATM Card and the money went right into my bank account..

I am interested to hear the answer as well.
Thanks.

Has anyone else had a problem with the terms for this offer?

Specifically, has anyone received the card with a T&C page that says 0% BT for 12 months instead of 18 months?

yeah i got the card with the 12 months aswell.

Got the card, but it took them about 2 weeks to approve it. The card's still in the mail though, so unable to verify if BT is for 18 or 12 month.

Got the card

took forever - in comparison to citi/chase/boa

got below average CL - $15 K

did bt

high min payments

but it is still 0%

The same site also mentions a Discover Business Miles card with an offer of 1000 miles for first 12 months you use the card, plus 0% offer on purchases and balance transfers ($75 cap).

The bonus miles offer is not mentioned on the Discover card web site.

I talked to a woman in the business cards part of Discover and she confirmed that you did get the bonus miles if you applied through the link on the creditcard.com site, but not through their site.

I noticed the business cash Discover card offered 5% on office supplies (nice if your office uses a lot of these, and many do) and asked if you could have two business cards mentioning using one for the office supplies and possibly gasoline (2%) and one for eveything else. She said a single business could have only one card, but did mention that if I had two business each might get their own card.

I assume that Discover believes that most who go to their own site have already decided they want a Discover card and hence do not make their best offer. However, they must believe that those coming to them from the creditcard comparison site are considering a number of different types of cards, and want to make an offer that makes their card stand out (many firms offer cards that give one mile for one dollar of spending) and there is little obvious reason to pick Discover over say Capital One or another bank's product. The bonus miles can be such a reason. While you can use their miles for other than trips (useful if you do not get enough for a trip) they are probably hoping that once you get their cards you will use it enough to get a trip.

I asked about the possiblity of getting both a business and a personal miles card and then having the miles credited to one account. Surprizingly that could not be done.

She did indicate that if you changed you mind as to the preferred rewards patten, you could convert a miles card to the Cash Back card and that the miles could convert to cash at a rate of $5 per thousand (with the odd miles left over being lost). Thus a possible usage is to get the miles card, use it for a year to get enough miles for a reward and then convert the card to a Cash Back one so you can ern 5% back on your office supplies.

The 0% on purchases means you can use this for spending (getting miles) while also benefitting from a balance transfer. the Discover card also has the benefit of their checks which can be used for expenses that are not payable by credit card (utilities for instance, although rent and payroll are excluded).

Alas, my application produced a statement they were having technical difficulties and to apply later.

Has anybody paid rent with the business card checks fee-free?

How do they differentiate utilities vs. rent (or bank deposits, for that matter)?

just checked the link...BT offer is now 12 months instead of 18.

R.I.P.

The offer (12-month 0APR-BT/Purchase + 1K "miles" per month) is still valid and is available directly.

We can still have fun after the first year:
If you use a PurchaseCheck to purchase or lease goods or services from a merchant, and you provide the merchant address in the space indicated on the check, the transaction will qualify as a purchase under the Cardmember Agreement.

I got this card too. Skimpiest CL ever. only 5k, and went to 7.5 after complaining and another pull.

Not any more. In the new Cardmember Agreement I got last Friday, there is an insert which says purchase checks will not have a grace period. Also, a CSR told me that they don’t have the promotional 0% APR either. Pretty much useless now.

Got that insert, too. Effective May 2008
My mailer did state 0APR til 2009, as stated on their current page.

With 0% Purchase APR, those PurchaseChecks still let you get around the $75-BT fee, right?

I'm not so sure. Note that it says:

0% until the last day of the billing period ending during February 2009;* then the standard APR, 13.99%
PurchaseCheck Purchases: 13.99%

It appears to me that PurchaseCheck Purchases are not subject to promotional rate.

Has anyone got real experience with PurchaseCheck Purchases and willing to share the information?

the discover business rep has been calling me in the last two weeks at least 3 times a day. I never answered the phone, but finally get tired of it so I picked it up and she just went rambling about approving me for a discover business card with 50K limit, no annual fee etc. I'll just say okay what the heck give me the card so they can stop calling me. she did mention about balance transfer but I'm not sure what the offer term is. hopefully it'll be clear when i get it in the mail, 18 months at 0% is sweet, as long as they dont do the 3% balance transfer fee crap.

I had applied on 1/11/08.

I just called Discover at 877 737 1936 today and my app was finished and approved over the phone.

My business phone number is my cell phone.

I did a BT for $1500 from Citi to Discover at0% until Feb 09.

Purchases are 0% until Feb09 with 5% CashBack

My card was approved for a $8000.00 CL.

This is my 1st biz card (rental property)

Thanks OP!

used this card exclusively for the purchase checks, spent about 5-8k a month for biz utils (water, gas, electric, etc.) They were not making a penny off of me, matter of fact they paid for all the check printing as well..

Too bad the fun is about to end.... Other than that this card is useless....
