Advanta Biz - Maybe a n00b mistake, but I see in the T&C that 0% BT applies to BTs requested with app. I'll have to dig thru my notes to see whether a) I blew it, or b) there's some older offer I can refer to. Either way, I'll be calling them?
Advice, stratgeies? I noticed it too..after the card arrived. However, I called them and it was not a problem to BT to my checking ($90 fee) |

Glitch99 said:You are starting to push it, not really from a utilization perspective but from an actual balance perspective - $59k in unsecured debt against $108k income. As said previously, you are risking adverse action but most likely the 'inconvenience' kind; things that aggrivate but do no substantial harm. You could push a bit higher if you want, but be prepared to fight the consequences - but if you have the assets (the BT cash in your HYSA) to support the debt, you should be able get through it relatively unscathed. Hmmm. In my first AOR about a year ago, I pulled out close to $100K in AOR money which exceeded my stated income by some margin and experienced no adverse effects whatsoever. No calls, no reduced credit lines, no AMEX FR, nothing. In fact, I've even cracked my AMEX's up by quite a bit, received a couple of unsolicited CLI's, and my credit scores are back over 700 even before I've paid off any of the remaining balances. Just a different data point. 2Cor521 |

BankAtlantica Biz - Rolled my Barclays $10k personal CL into this one, making it $20k. I confirmed by phone twice that for BTs, they will accept only a credit card or a card from a large department store. Doing the BT by automated phone teller, I decided to roll the dice and give them a Fidelity Visa debit card number, knowing that this approach failed for at least one other person. If this fails for me...well, I can't BT to my HELOC, so I will have to do it to a CC. My best option seems to be my Citi AT&T Universal w/ $17k unused balance. AMEX is not an option (without risking FR), right? Other possible moves? |

I rolled the dice and tried to BT to Chase Check card. I lost, but not too big - they showed it declined the same day on their website. I know others have had worse. I then BT'd to Citi with a 2k balance on it, and it went through fine. Hopefully your gamble pays off, or at least doesn't delay you too much. |

You could BT it to your generic BofA Platinum Plus card (free BTs, including direct deposit to checking account). |

I think I get (part of) the concept now: Do BankAtl BT to BofA (has the effect of paying off most of my earlier BT) then Do BofA BT to checking (for transferring into MMA or HYS) Time for me to check and double-check that there will be no BofA BT fee at all. Other options: - a card with no cash advance fee (usually just carebear banks and credit unions). - Driving a citibank card to a credit balance (chance of failure, but fairly small one) |

The BofA payoff-refill approach worked great, although I did get a call from a nice BofA credit rep asking what I was doing ("paying off a loan"). It was a quick phone call, and there was no AA in the least. Now on to Discover Biz (0% BT, 18 mos., $99 fee). They gave me a $4.5k CL, so I investigated the idea of reallocating $5.5k from my Discover More card ($10k, $3k BT expiring in a few months). All I really want to do is do a $10k BT to a HELOC, before (or after) writing a check to my Fido MMA. Back in November, what they said led me to wait until December when More would be at least 6 mos. old. At that point I would ask for a CLI on More, then reallocate some of that CL to Discover Biz. At any rate, I waited until Jan. A CSR told me that what I want to do should have been done within 60 days of opening the Biz card -- too late now. [Not that they ever told me that in the first place.] In addition, she said no dice on a CLI on either card. My 8 months of experience with Discover has me thinking they are too fussy about too many things. What do you recommend for an approach: -Try again, this time asking to speak with a senior person -Discover reps tend to be like that, so just try another one and another one and... -Forget it, it's a waste of time -??? |

You should have paid off the More card, reallocated the entire line, and drawn $14.4k on the Biz account - all back in Nov. You would have been sitting here with ~$13.5k for another 15 months (plus interest collected off $14k for the past three months), instead of $10k (at most) for 15 months and $3k expiring soon. And yes, that 60-day time for reallocating is standard. Dont know if calling again will get anywhere, but I guess it never hurts to ask. |

There's no question that I've dragged my heels on a couple of the BT offers. I'll keep calling. Word to the A0R-wise: After pulling the trigger on your apps, plan on staying focused for quite a while... |
