Thanks, but how is this different from Baylor (online app)?

the baylor bt fee is now uncapped. for the life of me, i can't find a workable US Bank and/or Elan BT deal. Seems like they've all gone to uncapped fees, personal and business.

My list of applications is almost ready... However, b* on my wife's reports has not even began yet. I'll probably have to do two separate AORs this time.

In the meantime, I spoke to a Juniper supervisor who told me that once they fail to obtain a credit report due to a freeze they decline the application rather than attempt using another CRA. Experian is what they typically pull for NJ... She also told me that there is no limit of cards you can have with them or applications within a time period, but I don't know if I should believe it. I had my wife close her US Airways and Frontier cards, which were not useful with $900 and 1K CLs. She has 30 days to re-open them. 35K Lufthansa miles may be worth an Experian pull though. Same supervisor also told me that you can reallocate both ways between personal and business cards of the same type/same co-branded partner (e.g. US Airways), which I do not believe at all.

I also called Fifth Third to confirm that NJ is out of their lending area and will not be applying for their card. Wells Fargo requires a branch visit, and there arern't any in NJ. But there are plenty Wachovia branches - do they have any signup bonuses for checking?

What I need to find out in advance is how different issuers treat a freeze - which can be talked into pulling another CRA. Then I'll decide if the remaining cards are worth a hit after I remove the freeze.

Wachovia had a promo going last spring ($50) for free checking account. If there's one going on now I'd still consider these circumstances:
1) two pulls on TU (in NY) (my guess is one with the online app. and the other one when you come to the branch to finish the process as online form instructs you to -- how stupid is that)
2) I had to use pliers to extract the bonus from them
3) though their basic checking account is "free" in that it does not require DD, there's a dormancy fee (I think 1 transaction a year is needed) and one has to keep the acct. open for at least 6 months before closing.

Re: Juniper

Juniper/Barclays CSRs are on par with BofA CSRs in terms of cluelessness. My g/f has the Travelocity Rewards Mastercard from Juniper and there is no way for them to convert the account to anything that would have no fee. The only option is to cancel or pay the fricking fee.

EugeneV said:Wells Fargo requires a branch visit, and there arern't any in NJ.I got a WF Visa in my last AOR. It didn't require a branch visit... or at least it shouldn't have. We have branches in MN, so I did actually have to go in as my SSN on my checking account had the last two numbers twisted and the credit people didn't like that. Anyway, might as well try - put it on a lower position in your rankings

win333 for president!

Eugene, I forgot to ask in the earlier post -- what good do 35K Lufthansa miles do?

1. What do you mean, they are not stupid? They ARE stupid. Both the CSRs (as we all know already) and the execs who STILL cannot weed us out based on our usage patterns and give us more and more signup bonuses.

2. I explain that EXP is frozen because of a current dispute over unauthorized inquiries, which is true. It is not fare to make credit decisions based on false information.

3. Cap1 will approve your app with one of the reports frozen, not sure about two of three.

cyberkost, what kind of question is it? I AM AN ADDICT!!!

You can freeze your report for any reason. You sound like you just came from Red China yesterday.

Unauthorized pull by a current lender does not imply fraud. No reason for fraud alert.

There are lenders that pull all three and use median score as they disclose.

I doubt that any significant percentage of bank employees are b*-aware. Certainly not anyone you'll get to talk to over the phone. TU is the only exception. They've sent out a memo to all CSRs. But then again, they are the main source of b*.

So, no, I do not believe that disclosing that EXP is frozen would set off any alerts. It's just hard to get any credible information about lenders' practices from moron CSRs. But here at FWF we compare notes and manage.

EugeneV: FYI, I was able to get a Well Fargo personal card in June with an 11K limit after requesting a 10K BT with the app. I am also in NJ and did not have to visit a branch. They pulled EQ.

win333: FYI, in NJ it is difficult to find many non-EXP pulling apps. Out of about 35 apps, only WAMU, Barlcays/Juniper, Merrick Hooters, RBS, PenFed, Nat'l City, Suntrust, Wachovia, and US Bank/Elan didn't pull EXP and I went out of my way to find them. Virtually all Citi, Chase, AMEX and BofA apps pull EXP.

I just opened Wachovia Free Checking ($50 bonus via wachovia.com/atm2). Hopefully this will help with CC application... Anyway, they pulled TU. I do not know whether they attempted EXP first.

R0man, thanks for the list!

and only apply for biz credit
B* in weeks (no new accounts on personal)
Then I get to BIZ AOR all over again with TU and EQ lenders, if app is canceled cause EXP freeze WHO CARES I get to apply for more in weeks.

Thats maybe 1,000 lenders(all lenders included)that I can apply for, not all at once but every few weeks I can apply for 10 to 20 30 40 TU,EQ pullers and repeat, FOREVER.

win333, you are bringing some SERIOUS energy to this forum!

do you have a list of business lenders (BT profitable, of course) that you'd like to share? you may have run across some deals that we aren't aware of.

thanks in advance,

-L

Eugene, in my earlier post I mistakenly said that Wachovia pulled EX (twice) when opening a checking account. I checked my records and it was TU that they pulled twice (I have corrected my post). So, I tend to think that Wachovia pulled TU in your case b/c it is TU that they pull, and not b/c your EX is frozen.

alert mods

Well, anyway. I had 0 inquiries on TU, and I think 1 is considered ideal for scoring purposes, so now I've got it.
