GEMB (personal) - declined: "AMOUNT OWED ON ACCOUNTS IS TOO HIGH" (pulled EQ) FNBO Biz - still deferred. They called me today regarding EXP freeze and easily agreed to pull another CRA (EQ). BankAtlantic Biz - approved for 10K (pulled TU) Juniper/Lufthansa (personal) - approved for 5K (pulled TU) National City - still deferred (pulled TU) Citi Biz PP - still deferred (EQ, again) I see a third TU pull from Barclays as well (must be for National Parks card) and one TU pull from WAMU. My PM123 FAKO went up to 789 (TU), 786 (EQ) before these inquiries, now at 781 (TU) and 782 (EQ). |

Eugene, once this shakes out, it would be interesting if you could summarize which lenders would not proceed without an EX pull, which would pull a different CRA, but with some work on your part, and which may have tried EX, but then reverted to another with no intervention required. Also, the GEMB denial is noteworthy if you take their reason at face value, since some FWFers had been thinking that leaving SOME balances on cards might benefit an AOR... and least in GEMB's case it might not. |

National City - approved (10K) CitiBiz PP - approved (4K) *** FCU Biz - approved (25K, personal CLI with them denied due to "total exposure limits") RBS - declined (pulled EQ) US Bank - declined ("out of service area", no pull) I requested CLI on the new Lufthansa card and faxed Barclays proof of income. I've tried requesting CLI on BankAtlantic Biz card as well, but they insisted on a new hard pull, even though they just got my report a few days ago. Also faxed same docs for Citi Biz CLI, which I requested yesterday. FNBO still pending. BofA closed one of my useless (not enabled for Billpay Choice) accounts for "inactivity" and re-opened after I called them and complained. |

FNBO Biz approved with 12K CL. Juniper increased my CL on the Lufthansa card to 20K and approved previously rejected National Parks card with 5K CL, but they pulled TU TWICE today! I applied for Wachovia personal and biz cards at a branch. Same apps as online, but the clerk was happy to get referral bonuses and I was happy to make a new friend. Now I see they pulled TU. Then I applied for Citi/AA Biz online and got: "A system error has caused a delay in processing your application. Be assured that we have received it and there is no need to resubmit. We will contact you at the mailing address you provided as soon as it is processed. Thank you!" I suspect they tried pulling EXP. |

I just spoke to a senior credit analyst at BofA who was able to re-activate my US Airways Visa app and pulled a report from another CRA (I did not ask which one). Unfortunately, she noticed all my bill pay activity... I explained that I often accept low rate BT offers from other issuers, and then pay them off via BofA for an additional grace period, and emphasized that BofA cards are always paid from my checking account and there is no money cycling involved. She did not question me further, but said I'll get a response in the mail within 7-10 days. Does not sound good... |

Why not? I applied mostly for business cards first - they won't show up on my report anyway and will not affect average age. I am also not sure of max number of apps per issuer, so I applied for "priority" cards first to make sure they are approved, because otherwise I cannot be sure of the order in which applications are processed. Finally, I was able to remove a couple of inquiries as "duplicate", so the scores are slightly higher for subsequent apps. |

You're correct, the accounts and balances won't show up, but the inquiries will still be on your personal CR. I'm guessing you fall in the inquiries-are-mostly-insignificant camp. GL |

GL Eugene's strategy makes a lot of sense. Order of processing can be important, and the inquiries from earlier apps would be a problem even if the apps were done all on one day. |

I see the strategy, and now that I see he had pretty much zero inq's before starting, I agree it shouldn't be a problem. I forgot he is one of the bumpage aficionado's. Ordering them is pretty much a guess it seems, it is good to see another strategy. |

From the ICS faq... ...These studies have shown that the most powerful predictor of such credit loss is application activity for a social security number (SSN). Accounts with SSN bankcard application activity greater than selected thresholds are significantly more likely to become bankrupt or charged off than accounts below those thresholds. The most telling SSN activity threshold is 6 or more applications within 90 days. As many as 75% of accounts that hit this threshold are likely to become bankrupt or charged off. |
