Yeah, hopefully by AOR 4.0 we will know which issuers pull ICS/ARS and plan accordingly. Except that maybe they all will...

The most telling SSN activity threshold is 6 or more applications within 90 days. As many as 75% of accounts that hit this threshold are likely to become bankrupt or charged off.

That's us, baby! I feel kind of proud.

Discover card arrived and they have NOT reallocated lines as promised. As account manager from New Accounts Dept explained, they reduced my personal CL by 7K in order to approve Biz app for 7.5K and yet keep me under 25K total (I had 24K personal). To go over that amount, I need to fax in proof of income. In the meantime, I re-allocated 7K to Biz.

A rep from ICS returned my call and said that proof of adverse action is not required in order to request the report. Only your info and copy of driver's license. She also said that the report may be in a different format but should contain identical information as ARS.

So the total CL for Discover across personal & business combined without proof is $25k? In that case I won't be able to pick up much new credit, assuming I'm approved for discover business.

ICS report> Do they have that available online?

Yay, I got through to some special AM_EX Dept that can pull frozen reports using PINs... but only nine digit PINs, apparently. EXP is up to 10. They suggested removing the freeze temporarily, while I mentioned that the other two are not frozen. They pulled EQ and approved both my wife's application and mine!

AM_EX pulled TU. BofA pulled both TU and EQ.

BofA declined me once again since I spoke to credit analyst. My other lines are still open (I am really worried about them since they've noticed all my bill pay activity). I just spoke to another analyst about the reason for declining my application, and she told me I am at my maximum exposure. I explained that I am not looking for additional credit and - voila, 5K taken from my Schwab card in order to approve the US Airways app. Hopefully. I'll know in 7-10 days.

In other news, after reviewing my docs, Citi refused to increase my CitiBiz CL from the original 15K due to "max exposure" (but they did pull my report again), and one day later they approved my AA Biz card with 25K CL, go figure.

Wachovia (personal) - declined due to the number of inquiries and new trade lines (phone rep speaking ebonics)
Wachovia (biz) - declined due to high balances on other business accounts (!) Turns out, they pulled EQ Biz report. They approved me for 15K after I spoke to them, but said that there is no promo BT offer on the account. This is possible because I applied at the branch (via their terminal) and did not see T&C.

HSBC spacemonkey's land at Citibank?

Seems pretty typical to me. I had a puny $2500 initial credit line which Citi Dividend card (back when it was actually useful with %5 rewards) and they upped me to a whopping $3500 after 6 months of heavy usage and a new hard pull. Apply for Citi PP, bang $15K. Which I could have then reallocated to the Dividend card. Stop the madness.

Just applied for Chase GM Biz and Chevy Chase Biz cards. I'll consolidate them with Chase Biz Rebate prior to requesting BT if I get them. I am not sure whether the remaining Citi, Chase and HSBC personal cards are worth applying for because they'll want EXP, and if I convince them to pull another report, they'll see the number of inquiries. Number of apps or accounts per issuer is also a concern. If I manage to bump off the inquiries before large balances post, perhaps I'll apply for a few more cards then (especially since I need to repay my current Chase/Sony and PNC personal cards by the end of January).

So, I applied for UFB Direct mileage savings and checking, which I wanted for a while but stayed away from due to hard pulls. I will probably open Chase Biz checking as well while I am at it for $200 + possible $50.

Now I am planning to repeat this AOR for my wife, further improving this strategy. Hopefully she will get AM_EX SimplyCash Biz and BofA Biz, which I did not apply for.

BOFA'S CREDIT DEPT JUST CLOSED ALL OF MY AND MY WIFE'S CREDIT CARDS!

A few WorldPoints cards, 2 Schwab and 1 US Airways Visa, with a total CL over 100K. They left me a message at home with their number - they are now closed. My Biz card is still open...

BofA Deposit accounts seem OK and funds are available. I hope the payments marked as 'processed' on the bill pay screen and as pending charges on the cards will be honored. I just switched the remaining scheduled payments to use HSBC checking as source.

you need to pull the money from BofA accounts!!!! Right now i'm disputing 6 INQ with E_Q to get the number of INQs down fast.

Did they say what is the problem???

good luck

I do'nt full understand bill pay, but it doesn't sound worth it!!!

I've never sent proof and I have total CL with Discover of $27K across 2 cards. Granted, not much over $25K, but over nonetheless.

OTOH, I was never able to get the Discover dining rebate card that was available a few years back. Denials said something about having reached a limit on total cards issued with Discover. Didn't make sense, seeing as some folks here have around 4 Discover cards of various types, IIRC.

Wow - sorry to hear that! I think somebody got spooked with the fact that you were insistent about getting more credit. Given the current "credit crunch", some banks may become extra sensitive. I think I'll leave BofA products out of an AOR for now. Wouldn't want to lose the billpay benefits

Billpay Choice it is...

My wife and I have separate BofA logins and no joint credit cards, but the Checkfree Billpay part is still linked from MBNA days, when we had a single login. We still have a joint list of payees and source accounts except for billpay-enabled credit cards.

When I spoke to an analyst regarding my new application auto-declined due to Experian freeze, she noticed all my billpay activity. She told me that she will approve me for a new card and re-allocate the limits with her supervisor's approval, but instead they closed all our CC accounts, including one that was not even billpay-enabled.

I escalated this as high as I possibly could, offering any sort of income and assets verification and suggested that they can disable my billpay functions, but got nowhere. I asked if my Premier rep could give them a call (bluffing, as I am not currently Premier customer, but as I suspected they cannot tell) and was told that it would not make a difference. They would not even keep that card without billpay open with a measly $500 CL.

They reiterated that they are not accusing me of fraud (only of billpay abuse). I am not black-listed and can re-apply at any time.

Can you give us an idea as to how much was too much? Like your typical number of transactions or total $$ sent per month?

alert mods

I kept my FIA cards nearly maxed out and then either paid in full on the statement date so that no utilization would be reported or paid down to 50%-$1 if I did not care about scores. This went on for years, until I asked for trouble.

In other developments, I was told by a CSR that Discover would approve at most 1 app per 10 months (at least if you already have a Discover card), including business cards. Thus, my Discover Miles application was cancelled.

Chase would approve at most 2 biz apps, including co-branded cards. My GM and Chevy Chase apps were cancelled as duplicate. Credit analyst told me that I am at my max exposure with them. I reallocated 20K from United Biz to Chase Biz Rebate then.

Key Bank (Citi) denied my app. Principal Bank also, due to number of inquiries. I am not very hopeful of getting the BofA US Airways card after what just happened. So, this sums up my AOR.

Apps submitted: 13 personal, 14 biz, 27 total.
Apps approved: 3 personal, 11 biz, 14 total.
New credit: 35K personal, 101.5K biz, 136.5K total + AM_EX Gold Rewards Biz (NPSL)
BofA - lost credit: 59.7K personal, 56.1K wife
Rewards (pending): 25K MR points (x2), 35K Lufthansa miles, 25K United miles, 25K American Airlines miles, 30K ThankYou points and $30 from CardSelection

I will post the results of my balance transfers and BT fees later.

As to which issuers can be talked into pulling another CRA when EXP frozen, the answer is, pretty much all of them (with some work). This manual review, though, may attract a lot more attention to your apps than you would want to though.

I will update OP after my wife's AOR. If after b* and some payoffs my scores will be AOR-ready, I will continue from where I left off.

EugeneV - I'm sorry to hear about the BofA action - sounds a lot like what they did to me. Regarding your BofA Biz card - in case you're carrying a 0% balance on it, make sure you keep checking it frequently.

When BofA closed my personal credit cards, it took them a month before they decided to close my biz card (account closed due to adverse effect on personal cards). I thought what the heck - no problem. Two months after biz card closure - my statement printed with finance charges. BofA Biz changes the rate b/c of account closure and cancels the promo rate. While the account agreement doesn't say they can, they just do and once your account is closed - CSRs are of no help.

Am I correct that you're still waiting to hear from Chase, Citibank, and HSBC on several apps?
