Thanks for the reply. Can someone please explain me how to determine the first day of new cycle for charter bank?

downhillskier said:ludhianvi said:Anyone received email from charter that their account qualified (or not) for October? I am still waiting.

The statement cycle should end today, so I would expect to see it tomorrow at the earliest.

What is my Rewards Cycle?
* Your Rewards Cycle is the period in which you have to complete your requirements.
* Your Rewards Cycle ends the last business day of each month and begins the first day after your previous cycle is complete.
(so, the last one ended 10/30 and the current one started 10/31)

What is my Statement Cycle?
* Your Statement Cycle is the period in which your monthly Statement is included
* Your Statement Cycle ends the next business day after your Reward Cycle ends and begins the first day after your last Statement Cycle is complete.
(so, the last one ends today, 11/2, and the next one starts tomorrow, 11/3)

Since Charter's turbochecking part of their website is down, you can browse the thread http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/arcmessageview.php?catid=52&thre... for info. Note that they changed their cycles about a year ago, so look later in the thread for the correct info. The Quick Summary is incorrect.

Sad news:

As the financial markets continue to fluctuate, we are working hard to ensure that MORE of your money earns higher-than-average rates.
To accomplish this, several changes to your TurboChecking Account will go into effect today, November 2, 2009.

While the maximum rate that Turbo will pay will be reduced to 1.25%APY,
The maximum balance on which you can earn the maximum will DOUBLE to $50,000, and
You will only need to post ONE debit card transaction per cycle.

This makes it easier than ever for you to earn the maximum rate and enjoy the other unique benefits of your TurboChecking account!

STILL No ATM Fees Nationwide
STILL Overdraft Privilege
STILL No cost Online Bill Pay

Beginning November 2nd, the following rates will be paid when you meet the monthly requirements

* Earn 1.25% Annual Percentage Yield (rate of 1.243%) on your balances of $0 to $50,000, 1.01% Annual Percentage Yield (rate of 1.01%) on all amounts above $50,000, and 0.25% Annual Percentage Yield (rate of .25.%)
on all balances if the requirements are not met each statement cycle.

We've been a rewards checking leader since we began TurboChecking in October, 2007. Be assured that as the marketplace allows, we will pay you the highest rate that we can.

We believe you will find that TurboChecking still offers a good return on your deposits.

Our many thanks to you for your business, we look forward to many years of serving you with the best deposit products on the market.

If you have any questions regarding your Turbo Checking account, please reply to this email or contact us in Albuquerque at 505-291-3777, in Santa Fe at 505-992-1777, or Toll Free at 1-877-91-TURBO (1-877-918-8726).

I've already set up the ACH transfers to get out of Charter. Hey, I can keep it at Alliant and earn 2%, with no maximum.

I'm waiting for the interest and atm refunds to post.. then ACH out immediately. I was finally getting content and confident in my routine, so where can I move my money. I hope this doesn't turn into a trickle effect with the other banks.

Damn it! Charter does this a few days after I finally get checks printed. This seems to happen too much...wasting money on checks because the rates drop. Time to get my money out. Good going, Charter.

Is it ok to get all 25K out of charter using ACH in one go or we should do transactions of less than 10K?

Unless Charter imposes the $10K (per day?) cap it's absolutely Ok to pull whatever amount. Currency report (at $10K threshold) is triggered for cash transactions only, if that's what you're worried about.

Ok, thanks for the reply, Yeah, that is what I was worried about.

Now, to find a bank to put this money in. Where is everyone planning to put this money to earn high interest? I am planning to open account with Bank of Sierra. Does anyone have an experience with them?

How do you do the ACH out with Charter? Go into the Bill Pay section and find another bank you bank with?

You pull from the bank you're moving the funds to.

I know you can do this when opening a new account but how do you do it with an existing bank account? I could deposit a check from Charter to get the funds out but it's the slow way.

The receiving bank needs to have ACH capabilities; then you use their ACH system to transfer the funds.

Thanks for the info. I'll see if the incoming bank does ACH transfers in.

I read on Bank Deals that Heartland only accepts Arkansas residents now. I found that out after I was about to open another account there.
