LaSalle Bank which just tied a knot with BOA recently is now offering $100 for opening a new checking account.
I opened my new account just begining of October with $50 "Checkilicious Offer" and got the incentive posted last friday ....now they have $100 offer...damn!
But I guess its a time to share it with other FW members so they can get in who missed last time with even more bonus.
The minimum balance to open a checking account to earn the $100 cash bonus is $250. To be eligible for the Bonus you are required to sign up for a LaSalle Money Card debit card and open a new Statement Savings Account with a $100 minimum opening deposit. You are also required to make a purchase with your Money Card within 60 days of account opening. Bonus will not be considered part of the new checking or savings minimum opening deposit. Bonus will be credited to the savings account within 120 days from the date of account opening provided the stated requirements have been met. Bonus is limited to one per household, may not be combined with any other offer, is not transferable, and may be considered income to you for tax purposes. Offer available for a limited time and is for new accounts only with funds not currently on deposit.
All accounts are subject to applicable terms and conditions, including but not limited to minimum balance requirements and monthly fees. Effective 10/12/07, the Annual Percentage Yields (APYs) for the Checking with Interest Account were .15% (balances of $0.01 to $2,499.99), .25% (balances of $2,500 to $24,999.99), .30% (balances of $25,000 and over). Effective 10/12/07, the APYs for the Select Services Checking Account were .20% (balances of $0.01 to $2,499.99), .35% (balances of $2,500 to $24,999.99), .40% (balances of $25,000 and over). As of 10/12/07, the annual percentage yield for a Statement Savings Account was 0.35%. The interest rates and APYs are variable and may change after the account is opened. Fees may reduce earnings. The monthly fee for falling below the minimum balance requirement on a Statement Savings Account will be waived for the first six months from the date of account opening.
Account access available at all ATMs owned and operated by LaSalle Bank and Bank of America. Access at Bank of America ATMs is limited to cash withdrawals.

You have to open two accounts, but otherwise should be easy to manage. It looks like opening the Convenience checking with $250 minimum balance to avoid fees and the Statement Savings also with minimum average daily balance of $250 to avoid feed is the easiest way to go. Last promotion they accepted CC's as funding, and it counted as a purchase. YMMV
Thanks, OP. Did you fund that other offer with CC? If so, was it classified as a purchase? And did you get a hard pull as a result of applying?
Porqin: You only need $25(corrected: $100) in the Statement Savings account (to open it) - minimum balance fee is waived for 6 months. The monthly fee for falling below the minimum balance requirement on a Statement Savings Account will be waived for the first six months from the date of account opening. More details (charge schedule, etc.) are here (pdf).
Okay, I guess I erred on the side of caution. I didn't get a hard pull last time I opened an account, but it has been like 6 months.

can anyone confirm that funding with CC still counts as a purchase? and which bank was the credit card from?

Using a cc on these is alway YMWV esp. chase (there have been multiple FW posts on problems from them)....the worst case is that they recharacherize these as cash advances...
It is indeed a soft pull and you can use any credit card to fund the account, will be counted as PURCHASE. Its an easy way to make another $10 by funding the account with $1000 with a credit card which has 1% ca$hBack

You can fund checking account and savings account with credit card up to $1000 and considered as purchase. That's $20 bonus for a 1% CashBack CC.
Checking account: Two types of checking account. Convenience checking account requires $250 minimum balance (daily) to avoid $5 fee, but no DD required. Direct Plus Checking requires ANY amount of direct deposit to avoid $5 fee. You can switch between these one account to another by calling them.
Does anyone know if Paypal ACH push considered as DD?

Only Visa/MC are allowed for funding?

I think small banks usually check DD carefully. So paypal or ing might not work.

Ask them for your maximum cash advance limit, and the avaliable cash advance limit. If these two are the same, then bingo! You can ask them for your maximum credit line and avaliable credit line too, just to make sure that the transaction has actually been processed.
It is A PURCHASE. . not a Cash advance(ALWAYS - DOES NOT DEPEND ON BANK!). . and if you really want to be evil .. just open every single type of account they offer w/ 1000 and then close all but the ones you need. Reap all the benefits from the 1k x 1% x # of accounts + up t 60 days float time(depending on card) of interest in your HYS.
I just signed up for an account. Hope the bonus shows up even though I am already a BofA customer. Also, how did you guys sign up for an account? I first created a convenience checking account and after I filled that out, I proceeded a new application and created a statement savings account.
I hope it goes through.

It appears you can close your account any time without fee as long as you don't request a sight draft.
"CLOSING AN ACCOUNT—You may close your Account at any time. If you close your savings Account before interest is credited, you will receive the accrued interest subject to any fees described in this Account Agreement. If you close an interest bearing checking Account or money market Account before interest is credited, you will not receive the accrued interest. The Bank will charge you a fee if you close a retirement Account and transfer it to any third party. The Bank will also charge you a fee if you close your Account by sight draft. These fees are stated in the Service Charge Schedule"

I opened checking accounts with LaSalle back in 2/07 for the wife and I for $100 bonus for each. So they didn't hold the one per household line then. Also, closed them both without incident well before 6 mos. The $100 bonus was credited very quickly....probably a week or 10 days after opening. Not sure if things will change now that BOA is involved...notoriously slow payers. Oh and I funded both accounts with a Citi CC which showed as a purchase.
Applied for my wife yesterday on this one, thinking about one for me too, although I've done 2 or 3 other checking accounts in the last couple days...my Chex account is probably ready to explode.

Edit: To remove excessive quotes.
I checked online today. My cash advance limit stays at the maximum. My available balance, however, decreases a lot. I didn't make any big purchase, so I'm assuming that it was $2000 from Lasalle.

I opened checking and charged $250 to my Citi CC. I am waiting for it to clear and confirm "purchase." I then plan to open the Savings and charge $1,000. It may be a few days apart. Do these accounts need to be opened at the same time, or it doesn't matter?

Had anyone have any luck in getting the banks to lower the cash advance limit, or to remove it altogether? I really don't want this "feature". I usually tell banks to NOT set up a pin for my cards, too.

I applied for both accounts yesterday (10-30-07) and funded each with $1000 from Schwab card. Schwab shows a transaction date of 10-31-07 and the merchant as ABN AMRO NORTH AMERICA - CHICAGO as a purchase.
I also got the previously mentioned email and then a 2nd one a little later for both checking and savings stating:
Dear 4myfamily,
Welcome to LaSalle Bank. Your online application for a Statement Savings account has been approved and opened. Your Welcome Kit will arrive in the mail within 3-5 business days. Upon receipt, please sign the enclosed signature card(s) and return it to us at your earliest convenience.
Thank you for choosing LaSalle Bank. We look forward to serving all of your banking needs.

Just applied for the Convenience Checking w/ Money Card and Statement Savings separately online - charged $1000 each on my Citi card
