Some helpful notes:
1. Must open the two accounts, Convenience Checking and Statement Savings, in two separate applications submissions, online. This can be done back-to-back. Behind the scenes they will be linked together according to your SSN. At the time of applying you can provide credit card for initial deposit. Up to $1000 can be charged to a credit card (MC, Visa, or Discover - no AMEX) per account. Many people report that their charges are showing as purchases. As always, with this type of a charge, there is some risk of being charged as a cash equivalent,
2. Within a few minutes of submitting online, you will receive e-mails acknowledging that the applications have been received. Within a couple of hours, you get will get e-mails telling you that your accounts have been approved,
3. Within about a week, you get the following in separate envelopes: (1) an online password, (2) debit card, (3) savings deposit slips, (3) pin, (4) a welcome envelope with signature card.
In order to enroll for online banking, you can use your SSN and the online password (4 digits, just like the pin, but it says password explicitly - so don't confuse with pin) to log-on. Once logged on, you should see both of your accounts (saving, checking). You can change both your userid and password after you have successfully logged on,
There are no checks issued by default, or so has been the experience of many posters here,
4. Within a couple of days of submitting the application, you will see the charges on your credit card,
There is a $5/month fee if the balance in either your checking account drops below $250. Same goes for the savings account, but the fee for the savings account is waived for the first 6 months.
CLOSING AN ACCOUNT—
You may close your Account at any time.
If you close your savings Account before interest is credited, you
will receive the accrued interest subject to any fees described in this
Account Agreement. If you close an interest bearing checking Account
or money market Account before interest is credited, you will not
receive the accrued interest. The Bank will charge you a fee if you close
a retirement Account and transfer it to any third party. The Bank will
also charge you a fee if you close your Account by sight draft. These
fees are stated in the Service Charge Schedule.
The Bank may close your Account at any time. An Account may be automatically
closed if any withdrawal reduces the balance in the Account
to zero. If the Bank closes your Account, we will send you notice at the
last address listed on our records and a check for any remaining balance
in your Account after deducting all applicable charges. You agree to
pay any fees for closing your Account in accordance with the Service
Charge Schedule and you are liable for any overdrawn amounts. Your
line of credit privileges, if any, will terminate when a related checking
Account is closed. The Bank may advise consumer reporting agencies
and other third parties of an Account that is closed for misuse.
Any checks presented for payment on your Account after it is closed
will be returned unpaid. The Bank is not liable for any check, withdrawal
or other item presented after an Account is closed.
If you violate the terms of your Account or this Account Agreement, the
Bank may close your Account or transfer your funds to another type of
Account with fewer restrictions. The Bank will notify you of any transfer
under these circumstances.
