I as well was told I would receive notice in a day. Clearly you received notice quicker than that. How did they notify you?

My BOA limits are crappy, got 2 instants (both request were for $20K with $125K income)

$1500 went instant to $2100

$2500 went instant to $3600

markkundinger said:Yesterday, I got an email informing me my CL had been "increased" to $23.5k. But it was already at 23.5k, so there was no change.I've had this happen a couple times with BofA. I'd get either an email or a letter in the mail with BT checks indicating my new CL was X amount and it had actually already been that amount for some time.

$15,000 / Instant! / $24,000 / $24,000

Congratulations! Your credit line increase request has been approved. Your new credit line of $24,000.00 is now available for purchases, cash, access checks, and balance transfers.

Another data point. $0 balance on all cards.

BOA Card #1 (old MBNA), Old CL = 19,000. Instant new CL 30,000 (30,000 requested).
BOA Card #2 (World Mastercard), Old CL = 10,000. Instant new CL 19,1000 (25,000 requested).
BOA Card #3 (Plat Plus, new card), Old CL = 5,000. 5-7 days decision (20,000 reqested).

120k Income, Homeowner, Professional/Management

I have two largely identical cards with $2500 limits (two free ipod offers last year with 2k BT) and currently both have ~$1800 on them.

My results, posting a 50k income and 30k additional income. Home-owner, Teacher/Admin.

Worldpoints card:
$2,500 / 5-7 days / $5,000 / (not yet returned)

MLB card, reporting 50k income and 60k additional income:
$2,500 / 5-7 days / $4,000 / (not yet returned)

While I may have hosed myself by putting different added incomes, if asked I'll just say that I failed to include my parents in the first request. It was for the sake of science. I figured a controlled experiment in the second case, telling them what they wanted to hear, would have a more favorable outcome. No dice.

Judging by the small second request and continued delayed response, it probably makes a significant difference if you actually owe a significant amount on your BoA cards.

For those that have already requested CLI, can you also clarify a few points?

1. What is your utilization for BofA currently?
2. Do you have any BT or amount owed at the moment?

I'd like to gather more info before attempting this. Thanks.

Thank you OP for the wonderful thread. My question is that did anyone get instant CLI approval while the card has a balance on it? I currently have a BoA world point with $10800 balance over CL $12500. Any response will be much appreciated.

Went from 3800 to 6900 but I requested 15k. I had just requested and received a 5000 increase on one of my FIA cards in the last month as well. Don't know if that factored into the decision or not.

$3,100 / instant / $15,000 / $6,200

I tried last week for three cards before this thread was posted. All got instantly increased. One increased from $28,400 to $34,000, one from $24,000 to $30,000, and one from $14,800 to $20,000. I was not being too aggressive for the CLI request though. Actually, I do have 4th card with $5,000 CL. I did not do the CLI request for this card coz it is just opened for 1 month. Anyway, I will give a try for the 4th card. It never hurts.

I have done this in the past, and after a couple of successful increases, I have never been successful.

In unsuccessful cases, the response has been "you will get a letter in 5-7 days", and the ensuing letter stated that relative to my income, I already have enough credit across all BofA credit lines.

So that has led me to believe that whether or not you can get an increase is tied to your income and current aggregate credit held across all BofA lines. On the other hand, before I reached that ceiling, I remember being successful several times. Usually, either the approval was either instant, or very prompt.

So may I ask all the posters who had success with the CLI to also post the aggregate income they provided in the form? Perhaps this can help us figure something out about the rules used in approving / denying the CLI.

In my case, the glass ceiling was reached at $37.7K aggregate credit, and my individual ann. income is $74K.

Thanks, OP. It's crack enough for me.

I increased all three of my BOA lines. Data points for everyone!

$12,600/ instant/ $20,000/ $20,000

$7,000/ instant/ $15,000/ $11,600

$5,000/ instant/ $10,000/ $10,000

Self-Employed, 20K income, own w/$0 payment, 85K other income
I'm not carrying any balances with BOA right now.

Now off to do DH's...

$3,800/ instant/ $10,000/ $6,900

$35,500/ 5-7 days/ $50,000/ ?

Same stats pretty much, no current BOA balances

I was a little surprised about his second card not being increased, but I suppose the original line is high for our stats already from reallocating and consolidating other cards.

My request was approved instantly. My CL went from 15k to 24k (I requested 24k).

I currently have a 8k balance (BT at 0% for 12 months, 3 months left until the 0% expires). I have never used the card, and only have used the account for the 0% arbitrage.

Hope this helps.

Has everyone checked to see if they received any inquiries? I did an CL increase through their website a month ago, when it had the same language regarding there be no inquiry unless you are notified that it is required, and I got a "wait 1 day" for review message. They never notified me that an inquiry was required, and a day later I got an increase from $8K to $15K. But, I looked at my credit report the following week, and there was an inquiry from them.

EDIT: maybe it is on crack...just got instant approval from $15K to $20K...I don't have any balance on the card.

I added a BALANCE column to the QS. For those who have already contributed, it would be very helpful to know what your current balance was when you requested the CLI.

In other news, a post on fatwallet.com made BOA run out of available credit as they issued 2 Billion dollars in additional credit due to a computer glitch and are now unable to open new accounts ....
