$50 for opening a wells fargo checking with $100 initial deposit. WARNING - The offer claims there are no fees/minimums but it appears it depends on what state you are in. There can be a DD requirement or $1k min balanace requirement to avoid the $5 monthly fee so YMMV with this deal.
Also could possibly be a HARD PULL to open but someone said the wells fargo CSRs claimed it was a soft pull.
Offer subject to qualification. Limit one $50 bonus per household. To qualify for your $50 bonus, you must open and fund a new personal Wells Fargo checking account with a minimum initial deposit of $100 (not including the $50 bonus) by November 30, 2007. The $50 bonus is available with all Wells Fargo checking accounts, including non interest-earning checking accounts, except for Wells Fargo College Checking®, Wells Fargo Teen CheckingSM and Wells Fargo Opportunity Checking® accounts. The $50 bonus will be deposited to your new Wells Fargo checking account within 30 to 45 days of opening. The bonus is reported as interest on your Wells Fargo checking account for IRS tax reporting purposes. Offer may not be combined with any other offer.
Are there any direct deposit requirements? On the link you sent: Free Checking That's Really Free — Enjoy no monthly service fees, no minimum balance requirements, and a Wells Fargo® Check Card with no annual card fee.
But when i look under my state (maryland), i just see a free checking account that requires dd.

Edit:
Apparently this offer requires $100 monthly DD or $1000 minimum daily balance to avoid $5 monthly fee in some states.
Your state is Good (i.e. no DD) if you see Free checking available with this deal (e.g. Texas)
Your state is BAD (i.e. DD required) if the deal only shows Basic Checking (e.g. California)
Basic: Monthly service fee $5.00 * Fee waived with $100 monthly Direct Deposit, or with * $1,000 minimum daily balance
Unless I am missing something that is hardly "No monthly service fees, no minimum balance requirements". Shame on you Wells Fargo for your deceptive advertising

Hmm I took it that there was no DD requirement since the offer did not mention it. But on closer inspection it appears that there is only no DD requirement for the "College Free Checking", which requires you to be a college student (you just enroll in online statement delivery to waive the monthly service fee).
The basic free checking requires $100 monthly DD or $1000 minimum daily balance. Unless I am missing something that is hardly "No monthly service fees, no minimum balance requirements". Shame on you Wells Fargo.
College: Monthly service fee $3.75 * Waived with Online Statement delivery, or * $2.00 discount off monthly service fee with Direct Deposit
Basic: Monthly service fee $5.00 * Fee waived with $100 monthly Direct Deposit, or with * $1,000 minimum daily balance
Check out the fee schedule on the checking account for your state before applying.
I have a feeling this is a regional offer--the "congratulations" page showed a Concord, CA address for my signature card, while the confirmation e-mail showed a Portland, OR address.
OP: do you know where the link came (or "jumped") from?

Sound no minumum balance, any one get monthly charges?
For people that want the Wells Fargo 100 free trades, they would need to open a checking account, this works great in combination of that. I did this about 4-5 months ago
I got this offer in the mail, and got a no fee account by opening both a savings and a checking with a automatic transfer from checking into savings. Banker used 25 from the required 100 deposit to open the savings and started the transfer 2 months from now at 25 dollars a month. He was nice enough to waive the cost of checks (had to ask and gently press him for this by claiming the ad says free with no mention of cost of checks). Said the 50 dollars will take a few months to show. Works for me becuase it forces me to save 25 dollars a month instead of spending it. (all ready doing this with TCF, though they gave me 75 or 100 for opening two accounts....). I'll take free money and keep the accounts. Word of warning, a gold debit card came, with a one dollar fee for in network atm printed receipts, and a 2 fee for atm's not part of wells network. if you get a silver or platium debit card, there are all kinds of fees associated with the debit card. i think I'll pass on the debit card and just write checks when and if i need them.
The good part is you can fund with a credit card for up to $500 & I just confirmed it shows as a purchase not a cash advance. So you could earn some 0% APR money on the deposit.
