I opened one of these accounts earlier this year with a direct mailer for $50, no strings attached. No time limit. I closed it already. I just opened this online version using my CREDIT CARD. I confirmed on my bill and with customer service that it is considered a Standard Purchase Transaction.

You can get REWARD points if you use your Credit Card. So for all you out there that don't pay interest on your credit cards and only use them to accumulate bonus points or rewards then LOAD UP THE CHECKING ACCOUNT W/ $500 FROM YOUR CREDIT CARD. Get your max bonus at $500 deposit (make sure you get the FREE CHECKING ACCOUNT).

How did you guys close out your accounts and get your money?

My acct is showing the $50 bonus plus my initial $100. But it says you can't wire the money to another bank, only in. And it says you can't close your account over the phone if you still have a balance, you have to write them and request a check, but that there is a fee for requesting the check, which i can not find anywhere on the site as to how much the fee is.

None of their fine print says anything about early termination fee...
it should be no problem closing after opening...use billpay and have
the check sent to you.

They wanted $10 for early closure, as stated in the fee schedule (WA).
I'm just leaving a dollar in there.

I finally got my $50 today.

04/08/08 NEW ACCOUNT BONUS - WFS $50.00

I used the online contact us option. They guy said to contact the local branch for the promo. I told it was it an e-mail online promo. He then forward the case to the Marketing department and I was credited $50 the next day.
