I see they have a high apr but had mixed reviews (on other websites)

There only offer two options for withdrawing funds1) Walk into a branch of their bank - Florida only.(2) Send a notarized letter with instructions. So we see that this is NOT internet banking here folks. It was easy enough to deposit the funds!

No, no one on FW has seen the bank in Best current APY/APRs: The Daughter of The Mother - Checking, Saving, and Money Market: All Liquid Accnt Interest Rates! thread.

Nor has anyone followed the link or searched to find this Bank United thread BankUnited Online Savings @ 5.25% APY

I saw them in the apr thread but you are not suppose to discuss the bank just aprs there.

The thread you posted is good but has been locked.

If I can't get funds out electronically if there's no nearby branch, I'm not interested.

I see the conflict here on the FW site.

In the APR thread it says that it's an okay ACH target and in the QS on the old discussion thread it says the ONLY way to withdraw money is to walk in or send a notarized letter, so which is it?

I'm betting that DavidScubadiver has it correct and that you can just EFT funds both ways from another account that has the feature.

Now does anybody know how to link this as the current FW discussion thread for this account. I'm not up to that skill level yet and I don't want to make a mess.

According to bank guy who asked a CSR.

Does not allow ACH withdrawals from your other banks, but allows ACH deposits (according to CSR. CSR recommended their free checking account to simplify withdrawals.)

Of course if you read the comments the CSR's are pretty clueless about the online part of the bank, maybe they've been trained by now. Still (I assume) you could transfer from saving to checking then ACH withdraw, or maybe you'd have to write a check. Given there are better rates avalible I don't see any reason to bother with this bank.

I'm up against FDIC limits and the way rates are changing, it's good to have something in reserve. But for the most part you have a point.

In any case I managed to change the link from the APR page to here and just in case I shouldn't have done that, here's the link to old thread:

I'm stuck on the first question in the application process.

"Do you have a ChexSystems record?"

How in the hell would I know?

Nevermind.. I seem to have confused this bank with OneUnited myself. Dang that's easy to do.

Sorry.

The interest rate has dropped to 5.15%

Be careful of BankUnited. It is a Florida based bank with alot of interest only loans on Florida real estate.

My guess is it could be insolvent in under a year.
