I have signed up this promotion and bought a couple of electronic stuff from Newegg.com, outpost.com and so on.
I just checked my Citi card rebate status for the unbilled activity, but it doesn't show me the bonus (5%), just shows me only 1%.
Am I missing something?

yes, you're missing the terms of the offer- please read 'em.

I assume its about the timing when the extra bonus will post.

I signed up for the offer when it was first announced. With all the issues on FW and SD I called Citi today to verify that it was activated on my account. I was told that the offer does not exist. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that the offer does not exist and the only way they would honor it is if a I had a pre-printed offer from Citi with my account number on the specific offer. How is that even possible since it was an offer made from within their electronic account management system? I sent an email to customer service via their messaging system and received the response "Unfortunately, we are unable to handle your request through the Secured Message Center. However, we have forwarded your inquiry to the appropriate department for investigation. You should receive a response from them by mail in 10-15 days." I have to say this card is going in a drawer and never being used again. Is there any place to complain to about business practices like these (this is fraud as far as I can tell, I just didn't have the foresight to print out the offer as I was clicking on it).

Just charged $30 in AbtElectronics - will see what happens - signed up on citicards site - are they saying it was never there?!

many people posted in this thread that when they call to confirm/ask about the promo, most of the csrs claim that the promo doesn't exist.

Well, my statement came out yesterday and no bonus is shown. Just the 1%...

^^^ It may take one to three billing statements for your bonus Cash Back to post to your card account after the promotion ends.

That means if I bought something on the first day of this 3-month promotion, I have to wait 3 months until this promotion ends, then another 1 or 2 months to get the CashBack?

I don't think I could wait for as much as 5 months just for something that is still unsure.

Well, if you bought it on the first day, you're screwed anyway -- Please note that it may take up to 2 business days from when you activate your offer to start earning bonus Cash Back.

But generally yes, I think you have to wait 5 months.

And CSRs might not know about the promo if it was offered online to select customers. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. If in 5 months you don't get your bone, fax them a copy of the offer and confirmation, list the purchases you think qualify, and present a bill for 5%

And by fax (above) I meant mail.

The link in this post has the image of the original offer. I have a PDF of the next page with the "activate | not right now" buttons and T&C (also available on SD). Did anyone save the next page, some sort of confirmation after you hit "activate"? We might need all three.

You can point to the fine print all you want, but it's my experience with Citi that if the first statement doesn't show the bonus, it will not at all. Plus the fact that people are getting told that this offer is nonexistent doesn't give good signs. Now if within the the next five statements, my bonus shows up, I will retract my statement. However, if it doesn't, you can take your neg back.

Agree, citi always send you some attractive promotions and then deny them. I opened a citi checking account with 200$ bonus coupon, but the bonus never shows up, and ....they claimed to offer 100 bonus for each family member you referred for their credit cards...never seen any bonus....I do not like citi

Do any of you know when the offer says "electronic stores" would ONLINE electronic stores be OK? I recently made a $1,000 purchase at Lenovo.com and it should qualify as an electronics store. I guess I will have to wait and see.

I signed up for this offer a week or so ago, so it should be activated by now.

I'm planning on getting an LCD TV from Circuit City, which should qualify. So....I'm wondering. If I use my Citi Dividend card and go thru the Dividend Merchant Network link to the Circuit City site, that alone is supposed to get me 1.5% cash rebate due to the Merchant Network. I plan to get an additional 10% off the tv by ordering it online and picking it up at the store, and then paying for it with my Citi card. So, will I get "double" rebate? Will I get the 1.5% due to using the Merchant Network link, plus another 5% for using the Citi Dividend card to pay for it? If one cancels the other out, I need to know whether to bother using the Divident Merchant Network link.

I don't think you can find out. I don't think anybody even knows whether anybody is actually going to get the 5% at all. The CSR's say there is no such promotion. Your best bet is probably to proceed on the assumption that you probably won't get the 5% anyway. Then, three months later, send Citi proof that you qualified for the 5%, and see if they bite. That proof would include a screen shot of you activating the 5% offer.

ETA: If you don't have a screen shot, they might or might not be able to confirm the 5% on the phone. If they do, be sure to save the details of the call. But even if they don't, you might still get it in the end, and it might even turn out to be automatic, as it should be.

I called again today and the gentleman was very quick to see that I did have a promo.

I also got him to agree to send out a letter to me confirming the promotion. It should arrive in 7 to 10 days he said

Did the letter arrive?

Hmmm...I see that my Discover card's ShopDiscover merchant network includes 5% cash rebate back on Circuit City purchases... I wonder if I order it online via their link, and pick it up in the store - would that then qualify? I WOULD be ordering it online, just not having it delivered is all. At least that way I'd KNOW I'd be getting that 5% rebate back, on my Discover card instead of the Citi card where the promo seems questionable.

EDITED TO ADD: according to this, it sounds like I should get the 5% rebate back by picking up in store:
