Oh Lord! Don't get me started...

Stick to ETFs, index funds and mutual funds.

... stocks .. i got a couple of those. Soaked $500 in to a penny (sub penny actually) stock. My $500 is now worth ***** 0.2655 ****** I'm thinking about a trip to Hawaii on that much money

Still though .. the van listed in my above post is still the worst purchase.

PS i wanted to sell when the stock was almost double but the wife wouldn't let me ... oh well.

Two things spring to mind immediately...

1. The nearly $2k queen mattress my wife absolutely insisted she had to have, no other mattress would be acceptable. Her family was coming to visit and she couldn't stand to let them sleep on an airbed for a couple days.

2. The $1k patio set in my backyard that has literally been used less than 5 times in 3yrs. Its either miserably hot outside, too cold, there are too many bugs, its wet from recent rain, our backyard is generally a disaster, etc. Another thing the wife just HAD to have.

And I'll add my car comments... I got a great deal on a 2004 Honda Pilot EXL in late 2004, and I'm about to spring for the extended warranty before mine expires in another week or so. But the simple truth is that I do not need such a huge car and should have bought a CR-V or something similar that would be easier on the gas.

6. Golf Clubs (LOL)... what a waste of time and money!

Now I can understand #2, but 6 can be worth it. Just check out the used sporting goods stores and thrift stores for some excellent deals.

I LOVE the unit and the ability to fade out when commercial break starts and fade in at the end of the commercials. BAM! No commercials.

But, after a year of enjoying this fantastic service, I decided to quit T.V. So, after canceling cable, I only get snow on my set. One day, maybe I'll rejoin the world of television and have a use for this baby!

eBay it man. That was one of the best purchase I made from FW. I used it for 3-4 yrs and then sold it for over $400.

Timeshare condo in Vail Colorado. Timeshares are the spawn of Hell and the worst possible deal on the planet, outside of out-and-out pyramid schemes.

Chicken McNuggets that were created in the McRib mold.

House we bought to 'flip' right before the housing market in our area took a nosedive. When we bought - it appraised at about twice what we paid for it. It needed major work (I mean there wasn't even any drywall or floors), so we put a ton of money into it, not to mention all of our spare time for about a year. We had delay after delay, and of course, by the time we got it done - the comps showed.... you guessed it... about what we paid for it.

Ugh.

I am afraid that one day I will go back to television and I don't want to lose this gem.

Is an old Replay unit going to be of any use in a High Def world?
